Chapter 10: Kunai throwing test (10)
Hm, that was surprisingly quite easy. Well, that didn't matter now. What did make his ears perk up, though, was the fact that the next exam was Kunai/Shuriken throwing.
Hm, he was quite good at that.
He once again placed himself in the middle of the pack. He wanted to witness with his very eyes how good his future classmates would be.
There were roughly 40-ish students here, with 2 students going at the same time. By 20 turns, everyone should be done.
He was in the second queue. And for those wondering, the queues were not generated by gender at all—it was just 2 randomly picked lines. Though as he looked at who was in his queue:
Nawaki Senju, Mikoto Uchiha, Hiashi Hyuga, Hizashi Hyuga, Minato Namikaze, Kaito Uchiha, Takeshi Uchiha.
He was noticing a fairly distinct pattern.
'I see, they are already separating the ones that show promise from the regular kids,' Seijuro would ponder to himself.
Well, he didn't mind that. He would watch as Nawaki went up first.
He wondered what the boy would do.
The boy looked rather proud.
"Let me show you the skill of a future Hokage!" Wow, he had balls of steel.
As he launched the kunai, he quickly ran through some hand seals.
Ox → Dog → Dragon → Rat → Dog → Boar → Snake → Tiger
"Shuriken Shadow Clone Jutsu"
Hm, that was an A-rank jutsu.
Wow, a kid seriously possessed such a technique.
Even the instructors looked stunned—an A-rank jutsu.
He truly was the grandson of the First Hokage.
He watched as 20 kunai hit the targets. 2 of them hit dead center... everything else... was off mark.
Like 30 shuriken even missed.
"Pftft... next Hokage huh, if that's all you can do, you're hopeless." That was Kaito's inner Uchiha speaking out.
Wow, the Uchiha truly had a hate boner for the Senju.
"Hmph, as if you can do any better." Hm, Nawaki had some pride—he could admit that for sure.
"Nawaki... 7 out of 10," the examiner said after counting the points.
"Bwahahahah, all of this for 7 points." Hm, Kaito was really rubbing it in.
"Let me show you how it's done." The boy took a kunai and a shuriken, and threw them toward the target.
Not once hitting dead center, but he got quite close a couple of times.
The sound of metal making contact with wood could be heard.
Hm.
"Kaito, 8 out of 10," the examiner said, looking carefully at the stab points.
Kaito turned around and looked at Nawaki all smug.
"Shuriken jutsu is the Uchiha clan specialty. No Senju shall ever beat us at this."
Nawaki looked annoyed.
"Stop acting all high and mighty. The Senju are better—you just got lucky!"
"How dare you accuse me of being lucky? I hit it!" Kaito said, getting angry.
He was losing his shit seeing this child stick out his tongue and all.
"You bastard!"
"You two, stop it." Renji stepped in, stopping the two kids from fighting each other.
"You got lucky," Kaito repeated, with the Uchiha's signature arrogance.
"As if I would ever lose to you," Nawaki said, refusing to believe he'd lose to an Uchiha without the Sharingan.
As things stood right now, his only true rival was—
The boy's gaze landed on Seijuro.
He was looking forward to Seijuro's results.
Next was Mikoto... she scored... 9 out of 10.
Takeshi got a 6 out of 10.
The Hyuga brothers averaged a 7.5.
Hiashi got 7, and Hizashi got 8.
Minato got a 7.
Hm, they were allowed to go twice, and the total of their scores would be their final score.
When it was Seijuro's turn, he held the kunai, tossed it up and down a bit to get a feel for its weight.
Then...
THUMP
Right in the center. That's where it hit. Taking out another kunai, he got a feel for the weight and then—
THUMP
Straight in the middle. And again.
And again.
His score: 10/10.
Perfect. All 10 of his kunai landed in the middle. He was quite polite about it all—he was trying to get himself that top spot.
Next was shuriken... and... same thing.
🥇 Top 10 Kunai and Shuriken Throwing Test Rankings 🥇
Seijuro Kurama – 20/20
Mikoto Uchiha – 19/20
Nawaki Senju – 17.5/20
Kaito Uchiha – 17.4/20
Takeshi Uchiha – 17.3/20

Hizashi Hyuga – 17.1/20
Minato Namikaze – 17/20
Sadao Inuzuka – 16/20
Tama Aburame – 15/20
Yes, this was how the top 10 looked. And yes, if you were wondering, there were a lot of 17s. Not his fault—the kids were good. Well, not as good as him.
Seijuro was quite nice throughout it all, never really boasting. All in all, being quite polite.
"YOU!"
Seijuro almost jumped out of his skin, looking up to see Nawaki.
"How did you get all of them perfectly?! Even with my awesome jutsu, I couldn't do it!"
Seijuro tilted his head.
"Well, first I felt its weight. It was roughly 68 grams, give or take 0.93 inches, and the target was like 30 feet away. The diameter of the sign is roughly 0.3 inches—pretty small. With some basic math, one can calculate how to find the best spot each time."
What seemed like smoke started leaving Nawaki's head.
"You... you used math..."
"Please don't tell Oto-san about it. She will never stop nagging me about it." The boy seemed on the verge of tears.
Was it really that deep?
Yes.
For him, it was.
If Grandma Mito found out... he would be forced to actually study math...
No.
