Chapter 7: Chapter 7:The Advisor Appears
London, Early Morning
Victor Black no longer cared about the game between the police and Margaret Wilson. No matter who won, he wouldn't be involved. Of course, from his standpoint, he still hoped that Margaret could win and successfully escape this ordeal. After all, on his grand chessboard of revenge, he needed a great many chess pieces, and this woman was precisely one of them.
As a chess piece, of course, it needed to bring out its maximum value. If it was only used once, it would be a bit of a waste.
Therefore, regarding Margaret, Victor just smiled faintly and said, "Good luck."
London, East End
The morning sunlight spilled onto the streets of London. There was heavy traffic and a bustling crowd. Victor drove slowly forward. The prosperity of the city and the hustle and bustle of the streets outside the window blended together, presenting the colors of the world. As he watched, he was somewhat lost in thought, and an inappropriate thought suddenly popped into his mind:
"Maybe, forget it. Let go of the hatred, start a new life, and enjoy this prosperous world."
As soon as this thought emerged, a huge sense of shame welled up, making him feel extremely ashamed. At the same time, the scene of that night twenty years ago instantly flashed before his eyes, as vivid as if it had just happened.
The softness in his heart vanished completely, replaced by coldness, hatred, and anger.
"I want revenge! Kill all my enemies! As long as they were involved, whether they were guilty or not, I won't spare any of them!"
He roared inwardly, then accelerated the car, stared straight ahead, and drove directly towards the East End. He had to make preparations, preparations for the second murder.
Killing a person is not difficult. Anyone can do it. However, killing a person while ensuring one's own safety is an extremely difficult task. It requires meticulous planning, extremely careful actions, and one can't be too unlucky.
Once, Victor asked his teacher, "How can one commit the perfect crime?"
The teacher told him, "If you are smart enough, cautious enough, and patient enough, theoretically speaking, it is possible."
Victor was a math teacher, and he liked to think with mathematical thinking. In his view, murder was just a math problem. He always set a result first, and then deduced backward to create various conditions. Finally, he guided the target to follow the conditions he set and step by step move towards death to complete the murder.
If an accident occurred during this process, he would not hesitate to give up and lay out a new plan. He understood that if he wanted to finish his entire grand chess game, he couldn't take risks halfway and must ensure his own safety.
London, East End, Urban Village
At nine o'clock in the morning, at the entrance of an alley in the urban village, Victor slowly parked the car. He didn't get out of the car but sat inside and looked towards a place twenty meters away. There was a two-story commercial building there, and his next target, David Smith, lived there.
There were a lot of people in the urban village, and the population density was even higher than that in the center of London. There were cars everywhere on the street. Victor's black Volkswagen was unremarkable, and no one paid attention to it.
He just sat there quietly, waiting for the target to appear. He waited for three hours. It was around 11 o'clock when a middle-aged man with messy hair and wearing slippers yawned and walked out from the first floor. It was David Smith.
After going out, this guy first went to the coffee shop next door. He reappeared twenty minutes later. Then, with his belly sticking out and a cigarette in his mouth, he slowly walked up to a van, opened the door, got in, started the car, and gradually drove away.
During the whole process, Victor just watched quietly. He neither got out of the car nor followed. He just watched expressionlessly.
After David had been gone for more than ten minutes, Victor then started the car and left the place from another direction.
London, Suburb, Niutuo Mountain
Next, throughout the whole afternoon, Victor was getting familiar with the surrounding roads. He drove back and forth several times on the road from the urban village to the outskirts of the city. He walked on both the main roads and the small paths himself.
It was not until it was getting dark that he drove out of the urban area and headed towards the nearby Niutuo Mountain. By the time he returned to the urban area, it was already noon the next day. That is to say, he had stayed on Niutuo Mountain for a whole night and a whole morning.
During this period, he did a lot of things. In short, all the necessary preparations had been made.
When he got home, after a quick wash, the extremely tired Victor went straight to bed without saying a word. He was really exhausted.
Next, all he needed to do was to wait quietly. By next Friday night, it would be time to launch the plan. And at that time, he believed it would be very interesting.
Office of the Serious Crime Unit of Scotland Yard
Just when Victor Black was sound asleep, the atmosphere in the office of the Serious Crime Unit of Scotland Yard was extremely tense.
"Hello, my name is Sebastian Gray. People like to call me 'Lazy Fish', hahaha." A young man reached out his hand and said to James Morrison with a playful smile. This person was somewhat special. He had a face that always looked sleepy, but his eyes were extremely bright, as if he could see through everything.
He was an advisor dispatched from the Ministry of the Interior. Nominally, he was here to assist in handling the case, and in fact, he also had the duty of supervision.
James reached out his hand and nodded faintly, saying, "James Morrison."
Seeing James's attitude, Sebastian pouted and felt bored in his heart. So, without further ado, he walked to the chair beside him and plopped down, acting very familiar with the place.
James didn't care either. He remained serious and sat back in his own seat.
"Regarding this case, currently..." As soon as James opened his mouth, Sebastian waved his hand and said, "Let's talk about the case later. James, I'll be honest with you first. This time I'm here. Although nominally I'm here to assist you in handling the case and supervise you by the way. However, I'm rather lazy. I just like to slack off, don't like to move, and even less like to meddle in other people's business. So, just pretend I'm not here, and you can investigate the case as you like."
James understood these words and secretly heaved a sigh of relief. He had originally worried that the dispatched advisor would be difficult to deal with, but now it seemed that this person was not bad.
So, he showed a smile and said, "That's good."
Sebastian also smiled and said, "Let's talk about the case."
"It all started five days ago. That night..." James began to describe the details of the case in detail.
Half an hour later.
Sebastian rubbed his chin with his hand, pondered, and murmured in a low voice, "John Wilson was killed by Margaret, and that should be correct. But Margaret is definitely not the Ghost. The Ghost is someone else. Then, what is the relationship between Margaret and the Ghost? A cooperative relationship? No, no. If they were in a cooperative relationship, there would be no need to go through all this trouble and involve the police. They just needed to cooperate with each other, and they could easily kill John, and Margaret wouldn't be so easily suspected. If it's not a cooperative relationship, then what is it? Hmm~ Could it be that Margaret was just being used and was a chess piece? Yes, that's right. If that's the case, everything makes sense..."
After muttering for a long time, finally, Sebastian raised his head and smiled wickedly, saying, "I think I probably know the truth."
