Chapter 8: Through Linda’s Eyes
Linda stood behind the bar, wiping its surface with an old cloth while casting a puzzled glance at her son.
Adam seemed different since the accident—there was something in his eyes, in the way he walked, even in the tone of his voice when he spoke to her. She couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was, but it felt like he had changed overnight.
That morning, when he woke up and spoke to her, he seemed more mature, calmer. He was no longer the anxious boy she had known, the one who always felt like he had to prove himself to the world.
There was an unfamiliar confidence in his words, as if he was no longer searching for the world's recognition but already knew who he was and what he wanted.
And now, standing on that stage, holding the microphone, he looked like a completely different person.

The music began playing, and the bar gradually fell silent as the first words left his lips.
"I walk a lonely road, the only one that I have ever known..."
A shiver ran down her spine.
His voice was... incredible. It wasn't just beautiful—it carried something deeper, something that made her chest feel tight. She had heard Adam sing many times before—at home, humming while washing dishes, or practicing in his room—but she had never heard him sing like this.
This wasn't just singing.
It was emotion.
It was an experience.
She looked at the audience, at their shifting expressions.
Some had stopped talking, others had fully turned their heads toward him, absorbed by his voice. Even Marcus, who stood near the stage with his arms crossed, raised his eyebrows in clear astonishment.
"Is that your son?" one of her coworkers whispered beside her.
Linda simply gave a small nod, feeling something tighten in her throat.
"He's good... No, he's amazing."
She didn't reply, just kept staring at her son, trying to grasp what was unfolding before her.
How had he changed so much? How had his voice become so mature? Where had the timid boy who once feared facing people gone?
But she couldn't deny the truth before her eyes—Adam was shining.

When he finished singing, there was a brief silence before applause began.
It wasn't thunderous, but it was genuine, born from real appreciation. And in Adam's eyes, she saw something she hadn't seen in a long time—happiness, fulfillment, and the feeling that he belonged here.
At that moment, she realized one thing...
Adam was no longer just a boy dreaming of music. He had already begun shaping his future.
