Chapter 106: Vaudrille Capital City
"Sorry to interrupt, but would it be okay if we could set up camp with you all?" The knight asked
"My answer is leaning more toward no. The last time we accepted someone, they were being chased by people, and we had to fight to survive. So, are you being chased by anyone?" Kai asked
Sasha turned toward Amaya to figure out what Kai was talking about, but she shrugged her shoulders, not knowing what he was talking about either. So, she looked at Gwen and she said that she'll tell her later.
"Haha, no, not that I can think of. Unless you want to count that wyvern flying around here somewhere." The knight laughed dryly.
"Wyvern?" Kai took the monster out of his inventory and showed it to the people there.
It landed with a loud thump, which startled everyone there.
"This wyvern?" Kai asked
"Y-Yes, that wyvren." The knight, no, everyone was shocked by two things. Kai casually showed them the corpse of the wyvern, and the fact that he also had space magic, a type of magic that is super duper rare.
They all looked at him, seeing the smirk on Kai's face. They knew not to get on his bad side, seeing how he was able to kill the wyvern that gave them a hard time.
"Tell me, why can't you go somewhere else? It's honestly annoying to cater to randoms who just waltz on by. Like, the woods are huge, just go find a spot and camp there. I don't wanna talk with strangers." Kai waved them away, put the wyvern back in his inventory, then continued to eat his meal.
"What a rude bastard." The mage scoffed
"No, I don't blame him. We were intruding on them. Let's go find another place to set up camp." The knight turned around to look for another place to camp when someone stopped him from doing so.
"No. I want to camp right here, and nothing will stop me from doing so."
"Y-Young miss!" The knight called out.
"Hey, you, blockhead. Do you know who I am? I'm the daughter of Duke Calaback! Show me some respect!"
Kai looked at the girl. She was around his age, cute, modest body, had a wand on her hip, and was crossing her arms.
"Am I supposed to be scared or something? You aren't even the head of your household. What are you doing, going around flaunting your father's power like it's yours?"
"Tell her, Kai!" Amaya cheered him on.
"Y-You! Don't think I will let this go!" The girl growled.
"Let me make myself perfectly clear. I don't wish to kill you because I don't like hurting pretty women, but don't test me." He stood up and approached all of them, releasing his overwhelming power that forced them all to their knees.
"Your status, your position, it means nothing to me. I don't fear you, I don't fear your father, I don't even fear that fuckass goddess Gracia. So, I'm going to make myself perfectly clear. Fuck off or I'll make you regret your actions."
He released his power and went back to eating.
A bit later, the knights and mages stood up and took their leave.
"Nice. You handled that without killing them. Good job." Gwen patted Kai on the back
"Do you think I'd kill anyone who annoys me? I'm not heartless!"
The three girls nodded, not putting it past him.
Amaya tossed her plate to the side as she finished eating. "Glad we wont have to see her again."
"Nah, we probably will. I saw a badge on her chest that said HA. That probably stands for Hero Academy. We might see her there." Kai pointed out.
"Ugh. I forgot the Hero Academy is filled with stuck-up nobles and arrogant bastards."
"Haha, we'll be fine. As long as you're strong, people wont mess with you."
"So let's get as strong as we can before we enter it!"

Kai thought Ashenfall was an amazing city with its unique architecture, but that paled in comparison to Vaudrille.
Kai didn't even know how to explain how the city looked. It felt futuristic, but more so in the magic sense, not technology. The buildings were still the typical Medieval fantasy type buildings, but the advancement of magic compared to every other place Kai had visited was night and day.
"Woah! And I thought Ashenfall was fucking gorgeous!" Sasha exclaimed, looking around the city.
"So many places! This city is so big!"
"Vaudrille is five times bigger than Ashenfall if I'm not mistaken," Gwen said, pulling out a book, flipping through its pages.
"Oh yeah, I'm definitely buying a house here. Fuck staying in an inn."
"Me! Me! I wanna help pick out the house!" Amaya raised her hand.
"Sure. Gwen, do you wanna go with her?" He asked
"Sure. What type of house do you want?"
"A mansion, of course. Plenty of rooms.....Just get the biggest one available on the market. Make sure it has a guest house as well. And a big yard."
"Got it. How will we keep in touch? We don't know where the Adventure's guild is, so it's not like we can meet up there."
'Like this.' Kai spoke in their minds
'Oh yeah, I forgot you can do that. Sweet, see you later.'
'Byeeeee!'
"Ready to find the guild?" Kai asked Sasha?
"Yup. Let's go."
The two of them roamed the City, searching far and wide for the Adventurers Guild. Since the city was large, it took them a while to find the place, even needed to ask people where it was.
Eventually, they did find it, registered with them, then left to look around until Gwen and Amaya were ready.
They passed many places, stores, schools, churches, and many more points of interest. But then, something caught Kai's eye: people chained up in cages on wheels, being taken somewhere.
"Slaves," Sasha muttered under her breath.
"Slaves?" That was odd to hear. Kai knew that there was no discrimination between races in this world since all lived together. There was no specific kingdom or land dedicated to one specific race, so it's not like people snatched them up from foreign lands.
Not to mention, Kai saw elves in that carriage while the king and queen of Sarkylla were both elves. This meant that slavery was built on something different than discrimination.
