Chapter 120: Polly wants a cracker?
"Tell me who you're working for!" Kyana demand. She held an arrow to Junnie's eye as she threatened him.
He tried to fight back, but that was when he learned that he was no longer able to use his mana.
"W-What happened to me? What did you do?!" Junnie lunged at Kyana, but she just smacked him back down.
"Your. Boss. Speak. NOW!" She raised her voice and mana. Since Junnie could no longer use mana, he didn't have a way to defend himself from being pressured by someone who did have it.
"Like I'd tell you!"
"Gwen."
"Got it." Her hand morphed into dragon claws.
Junnie flinched, not knowing that Gwen was a dragonkin.
"W-Wait! Wait!"
Gwen simply smiled and cut off one of his arms.
"ARGHHHHHH!! GOD F-FUCKING DAMMIT!"
"Are you going to speak now?"
"G-Go to hell!" He yelled, his face turning pale, and tons of blood pooled onto the ground.
"Where the fuck do you think I was for all this time? I just came back to kill all of you." She stomped on his knee, crushing it.
"Nnnghhh!! I-I'll talk! Fuck! I'll talk!"
Nadya healed Junnie's wounds so he wouldn't pass out from the pain or die from losing too much blood.
"I-I'm just a middleman, a person who sees the potential products that can be sold. Women sell better than men, especially if they're beautiful and have mana. You fit every category, and since you came here as a newbie, it was easy to target you."
Kyana frowned. "So you earned my trust before betraying me in such a cold way?"
"T-That's right."
"Who is your boss? And where is he?"
"I-I don't know."
Kyana stabbed an arrow into his thigh, twisting it around to hurt him even more.
"Argh! I-I'm serious! Like I said, I'm a middleman! S-Someone who works for my boss comes here every month to check up on things. He goes by the name Cloak, since he wears a black cloak. He tells me what the boss wants. If I have some products waiting for him, he takes them. That's all I know! I swear!"
"A name!"
"I-I don't know his name!"
"Junnie!" Right as Kyana was about to hurt the man even more, he spoke up again.
"B-BUT! I heard Cloak mention his name in passing. Well, the name they call him."
"And? What is it?"
"The Wolf." He spoke.
Her face contorted with annoyance. "The Wolf? Why do I feel like you're making this shit up?"
"We're back! These bastards had a lot of good stuff back there. I'm sure most of it was stolen, but hey, I don't care. Money is money, yessir!" Kai said as he came back.
"Got anything out of him?" Sasha asked
"Kind of. I just don't know if he's giving me the full truth."
"I am! I swear!"
Kai walked over to him and stared Junnie in the eyes. "Let me have a crack at this interrogation. Tell the truth, man."
"I'm just a middleman who works for The Wolf. I don't know his name or where his base is, but a man named Cloak comes every month to tell me what I need to do. He should be arriving tomorrow. That's all I know."
"He's telling the truth." Kai smiled
"W-What did you just do?"
"Showed him what would happen if he didn't tell me the truth."
'Nah, I just hypnotized him.'
"Ugh! Now we have to wait a day for this Carl bastard to arrive!" Amaya pouted.
"Cloak, bastard, not Carl." Sasha corrected her.
"C-Can I go? I told you the truth!" Junnie pleaded
Kyana stared into the man's eyes, then slammed him so hard that his neck snapped, killing him in one blow.
"Damn! I'll make sure not to get on your bad side." Kai joked.
"So what's the plan now? Wait for this Cloak guy to arrive?" Gwen asked
"I'm glad you asked. Here me out, y'all. How about we do some synergy-building exercises?" Kai suggested.
"Ugh!"
"Hell no!"
"I'd rather die."
"You're crazy if you think I'll do that again."
"I-I do not wish to do that again."
Kai crossed his arms, pouting as he sat cross-legged. "Y'all are no fun."
---
After a day of waiting, the mysterious man named Cloak arrived in Crestfield. Just like Junnie said, he was wearing a black cloak that covered his head, arms, and legs. Not only that, but he had a mask on to hide his face.
"There he is. That's our guy." Kai whispered as he and his girls lay on top of a building to spy on the man.
"Why are we up here?" Gwen asked
"We're spies. Spies hide in places like these." He responded.
Kyana pointed at the man. "Wait, look. He's going to the guild. Maybe he has a contact there."
"Had a contact there. We burned the place down, remember." Sasha reminded them.
"Shit. I forgot."
The moment Cloak noticed that the guild was destroyed, he knew that something was wrong. So instead of meeting up with Junnie, he decided to leave the town altogether.
Kai nodded, impressed by Cloak's action. "Smart. He's leaving, so he doesn't draw any suspicion. Let's follow him."
While Cloak got back on his horse and left the town, Kai created a barrier around everyone, using it to fly all of them in the air to follow the man, making everyone inside the barrier invisible as well.
With the occasional stop here and there, it took around three days to arrive at the place Cloak was riding to. It was a large fort, one way bigger than any fort Kai had ever seen before. Unlike the bandit forts and strongholds, this one was cleaner, proper, and professional.
Behind the walls, however, was an entire community of traffickers, illegal slave traders, and other types of scum that plagued the earth.
"This place, it seems familiar." Kyana pointed out.
"How so?" Kai asked
"When my team betrayed me, I was drugged and knocked out. However, I remember waking up and seeing large wooden walls with a creaking door that opened. If I remember correctly, the password for entering should be Polly wants a cracker."
"Pfft!" Kai covered his mouth and couldn't help but laugh. It reminded him of parrots back on Earth, which completely caught him off guard.
"Come on, let's see if Polly really wants a cracker." Kai joked, lowering the barrier so they could walk toward the entrance.
