Chapter 93: The Battle of the Labyrinth
"Hello, Sir Paladin. I'm here to explore the labyrinth." Kassandra spoke with Paladin, who was in charge of overseeing the stronghold.
"Ahh, Guildmaster, nice to see you. Everything has been taken care of in the dungeon, and you are free to explore the Labyrinth. We are just looking around to make sure we didn't miss anything around the place."
"Take your time, we're in no rush to see you all leave." She smiled.
'Uhh, I am. Hurry up and go!' Kai thought to himself.
"Thank you, Guildmaster. Pray that you and your companions have a safe and fruitful expedition." The paladin bowed.
"We appreciate that, thank you. Alright, we'll be on our way."
As they all started to walk again, the Paladin noticed Kai and stopped him.
"Um, excuse me, young man?"
'Please don't be talking to me. Please don't be talking to me. Please don't be talking to me!'
"Oh, Kai, I think he's talking to you," Kassanda called.
'Fuck!'
"Me? Oh, I apologize. How may I help you, Sir Paladin?" Kai smiled
Amaya and Gwen almost couldn't contain their laughter seeing Kai in that position.
"Are you a follower of Gracia?" He asked curiously.
Kai smiled and answered politely. "I am not, sir paladin."
"Hmm, strange. I sense divine power from you."
"That makes sense." Kai nodded.
"It does?" He asked
Amaya gasped. "Oh shit, is he gonna tell them?"
Gwen smacked her stomach. "Shhh! Lower your voice."
"Yes, I recently came from Highgrove, where the first hero's tomb is. I participated in the sword pulling event. So it's not surprising that you would feel divine energy on me." Kai explained.
'I swear if you don't fucking believe me, I'm gonna hypnotize you to mind your fucking business, you bitch!'
"Ohhhh!" The paladin laughed. "That's right, I forgot that even was taking place. My mind has been focused on my work lately. My apologies if I made you feel uncomfortable."
"No, no, it's okay. I understand."
"Wow, he really smarted his way out of that." Gwen nodded her head, genuinely impressed.
After that interaction, they parted ways, and the expedition team arrived at the Labyrinth entrance.
"Alright, everyone, this is your final warning. Behind these doors are both treasures and death. If you have a family or arent confident in your abilities, I advise you to leave right now. You only have one life."
Some people truly listened to her advice and left. The initial hype and excitement had worn off since they were now truly going to be in the face of death, and that scared them. So, around 200 people decided to drop out, leaving 800 people.
"Alright, I'm going to assume everyone here is confident in their abilities, or just don't care, so let's go." Kassandra nodded at Kai, and he helped her push the door open.
The moment the doors opened, a huge wave of dark, deadly, violent energy washed over their bodies, dragging them inside the labyrinth, closing the doors behind them.
"W-What was that?"
"What happened?"
"Did you feel that?"
"Hey, hey, wake up!"
"T-That power! It felt like I was about to die!"
"Oh no. We fucked up." Kassandra said, her voice eerily low but full of panic.
"Why? What happened?" Kai wondered. He didn't even notice his girls clinging to his body out of fear.
"This isn't right. A labyrinth should be filled with multiple rooms full of monsters and treasures. Each room we enter, the harder the monsters will be until we reach the monster that rules the place. But in some rare cases, a labyrinth will only have one room."
"Why is that bad?" Kai asked. The book he read about Labyrinths didn't have this information.
"It's bad because if there is only one room, then that means there is either a very, very strong monster, or there is a demon using the place as its home."
"We have a smart one on our hands." A dark, gritty voice that echoed throughout the room spoke.
Suddenly, rows of torches lit up the dark place, revealing the layout of the room. It was a large throne room with a throne on the opposite side of the adventurers. Marble floors, elegant decorations, and lots of blood.
"How kind of you to enter my home." The demon said, stepping down from its throne. He had pale skin, red eyes, and wore a silky tuxedo that spoke loudly about his fashion sense. He had a disgusting, red aura that surrounded his body that felt like the cries of many souls.
"A vampire!" Gwen growled.
"Kai, this is dangerous. Vampires are powerful demons. I'll need you right next to me while we face him!" Kassandra said, sweat dripping down her face.
"Face me? Oh, no. I wont be lifting a finger. You all will be facing them." Suddenly, hundreds of blood bats flew into the room, which then turned into vampire-like creatures.
"These are vampire-spawn. Born from the dead bodies of you mortals." The vampire smirked.
"So the Bandits weren't trying to summon a demon or explore the Labyrinth; they were feeding you and building you an army!" Kai pointed out.
"You seem fairly strong for a human. You'll make a wonderful Vampire-spawn."
"Over my dead body!"
"That's exactly what I want, you're dead body."
'Fuck, this guy is giving me the chills. What are his stats like?'
[Name: Dante Demigorgan

'What the fuck!' This was the most powerful person Kai had ever seen in this world. 'Fuck! Thank my fucking dad, I have a shit ton of points to spend! I gotta use it now or we're all dead!'
"Everyone! Attack!" Kassandra ordered.
"Wait, no!"
It was too late. Everyone charged in before Kai could tell her how dangerous the man was.
"Heh, fools." Dante lifted a finger, and the vampire-spawn ran like zombies toward the adventurers.
Kai quickly used his power to increase the amount of protection aura his girls had, ensuring their safety. Then, he turned to Dante to make sure the man didn't move from his spot.
"It might be interesting to fight you." A cold voice said right behind Kai.
"Kai! Watch out!" Sasha jumped in front of Kai to protect him, but she was easily swatted away like a fly.
"Sasha!" He stopped her from crashing into a wall using his Telekinesis, then dropped her where Gwen and Amaya were, healing her in the process.
"You seem to care about those women. Let me change that for you." He blitzed to their location, almost killing them in one strike, but Kai had placed a barrier around them just in time.
"Impressive," Dante smirked
"Fuck off!" Kai blasted the vampire with a massive fireball, not holding back his strength.
"Kai, I'll help!" Kassandra shouted.
"No! Stay back, you'll die. I'll handle this." He pulled out his dragon fang daggers and locked in. He was so focused that he forgot to increase his stats.
"Interesting! I really want to make you a vampire-spawn! No, better yet! I'll turn you into a vampire and make you my right hand!"
Kai scoffed. "I'd rather admit that my dad is a deadbeat than become your right-hand man."
"Very well, vampire-spawn it is."
