Chapter 19: Chapter 19: The End of an era
WHEN THE GIANT FALLS,THE EARTH SHAKES.
…
Two days after escaping the cave, Han Wu ran far from the Crimson Moon Sect. Then, a sudden flash lit up the sky — an explosion so massive, it marked the end of everything he once believed in.
…
Two days had passed since Han Wu entered the cave. Now, far away from the Crimson Moon Sect's territory, he was running again. His clothes were torn, and his breathing was heavy, but he didn't stop. He had escaped. He had survived.
He was almost 60 km away from the sect's border — meaning around 105 km from the sect itself — when he suddenly froze mid-step.
BOOM 💥
A massive explosion lit up the sky behind him.
Even from this insane distance, the bright flash blinded him for a second. A giant mushroom cloud started rising in the distance like a monstrous hand reaching for the heavens ☁️🔥
"What… was that?" Han Wu muttered.
His heart sank.
Even though he was far, too far to make out any details, he knew.
The Crimson Moon Sect was gone.
Still, without stopping, he ran faster. His mind raced. What the hell kind of explosion was that? How can I see it from this far?
Then—
Time rewinds ⏪
One day before…
The sect was almost empty. In less than a day, most disciples and elders had escaped. But there was one person who remained.
The sect leader.
He sat alone on his throne. Silent. Calm. Waiting.
BOOM 💥
The invasion had begun.
The outer sect was annihilated in seconds by just a Nascent Soul mid-stage cultivator. But when they reached the inner sect, they were stopped. A powerful protection and hiding array blocked the way.
"Ugh! You low-level Nascent Soul dogs can't even scratch this array," one of the invading elders snapped.
Then, a cultivator stronger than Nascent Soul stepped forward. His eyes narrowed.
"Let me try."
He unleashed a powerful attack — ten times stronger than anything the others had used — and BOOM 💥 it hit the array hard… but it only made a small dent.
He clenched his jaw, humiliated. In rage, he shouted—
"DEMONIC ARRAY!"
BOOM 🔥
The attack shook the entire inner sect. The array nearly shattered… but it held. The cultivator dropped to one knee, drained.
Another elder, even stronger, stepped forward.
"Junior, you disappoint me," he said coldly. "Let this senior show you how it's done."
He raised both hands.
"DEMONIC ARRAY!"
BOOM 💥
This time, the protective formation cracked and shattered into pieces. But it took both of them an entire day to charge and unleash those attacks.
Inside…
The sect leader opened his eyes.
"So… they've arrived."
Now in the inner sect, the invading elders looked around. One of them scoffed.
"Hmph, the outer sect ran like cowards. But the inner sect is also empty? Crimson Moon Sect really is full of cowards."
Another elder stepped forward, his expression serious.
"You fool. That's not cowardice, that's intelligence... But more importantly, can't you feel it? Their leader is still here."
Everyone froze.
"What? Why didn't he run?"
"Maybe he wants to die 10 years early," one of them muttered. "Either way, it doesn't matter."
The leader of the invading Demonic Courtyard stepped out of the shadows.
"We'll sacrifice his blood for our Demon God. It's all we need to strengthen ourselves. No need to kill thousands… but truthfully—" (in his mind) even if they were still here, we would've killed them anyway. All in the name of power… all to survive.
They entered the hall.
There he was.
The Crimson Moon Sect leader… still sitting on his throne like a statue.
"Look at this old man," one elder laughed. "Enjoying his last moments."
The Demonic Courtyard leader stepped forward.
"Come out, you old bastard."
He glared at him.
"Look, I don't want to kill you. But if I want to protect my sect, I have no choice. We've been rivals for decades, but now I'm stronger. I will live another hundred years… you? Your time ends now."
The sect leader smirked.
"Oh? You really think the Crimson Moon Sect is famous for ancient techniques… for no reason?"
The Demonic Courtyard leader froze.
"Wait—everyone RUN!"
The sect leader raised his hand.
"It's too late."
BOOM 🔥
A hidden formation, one he had planted long ago, suddenly erupted. A sacrificial array that required the blood of a person that has crossed the Nascent Soul stage.
"That person… is me," the sect leader said.
"You won't leave alive. Not a single one of you. Now… you tell me—who was the better leader?"
"NOOOOO—!"
Vines faster than anything they had seen before exploded from the array. They wrapped around the weaker cultivators instantly. But the three strongest — including the Demonic Courtyard leader — dodged them.
"Hmph. I knew it wouldn't be enough to trap you three," the sect leader whispered.
He stood.
And smiled.
BOOM 🩸
His body exploded into blood and spiritual power. That sacrifice caused the entire formation's power to spike violently.
The three tried to run.
In just one second, they had already shot 1 km away—
But it was too late.
BOOM 💥
An explosion tore through the sky.
The same explosion Han Wu had seen.
The Demonic Courtyard leader raised a shield. The two other elders did the same, barely protecting themselves.
But the rest? Gone.
Nothing left.
The entire Crimson Moon Sect territory — boombazed into ash 🔥
No one survived within 30 km.
Just silence… and smoke rising into the heavens ☁️💀
