The Immortal Witch will Trade 10,000 Lives for a Simple Wish

Ch. 88

Chapter 88

* * *

(A Demon King being asked for help by a Hero? That's pretty surreal... But I guess I have no choice but to do my best...)

Good grief.

Yuurai shrugged her shoulders and glanced at the priest who was still under Mental Corruption.

The priest had taken on a mummified appearance, and it was unclear whether any consciousness remained. Even if someone claimed the soul was already dead, Yuurai would believe it.

"...There's no point in going further. Let's kill him."

"Huh? Y-You're going to kill him?"

As Yuurai released the Mental Corruption and summoned the Blade of Darkness, the blonde-haired young girl hesitated.

"I'm going to kill him. Because of him, my comrades were injured or killed. The town was destroyed too."

"But... killing someone is..."

This girl still wasn't used to killing. That was natural from a human perspective, but Yuurai found it somewhat refreshing.

"...The fact that I naturally think about killing—I've really become tainted by the Demon King, huh."

"I don't know what he did to the priest... but isn't it enough already?"

"Well, maybe. There's no need to forcefully kill him... ah."

Suddenly, the strength drained from the priest's body. It seemed he had died. Weakened by Mental Corruption, his soul had likely been extracted by the effects of Angel Summoning.

"...Ah, the priest... is dead?"

"Yeah. And while we're at it, the Choir is already dead too."

"...Huh?"

The blonde-haired young girl turned her gaze to the Choir for the first time. She let out a brief scream upon seeing their headless corpses.

"...Was it the Demon King who did this?"

"That's right."

"...Murderer."

"That's right."

"...I'm a murderer too, though."

"Judging by your reaction, it wasn't by your own will, was it?"

"...That's right. I never wanted to kill anyone..."

The blonde-haired young girl began to shed tears.

For someone who was devoted to God, living in the Holy Capital probably wasn't a problem. But for someone with a Japanese sensibility, life in the Holy Capital must have been incredibly painful.

"...It must have been hard. But don't worry. I won't let you go through anything like that again."

Yuurai knelt down and gently embraced the blonde-haired young girl.

Yuurai's body hadn't fully matured yet, but the young girl's body was even smaller, making her feel like she needed to support her.

However, there was no time to wait for the girl's tears to stop.

Yuurai decided to wrap it up at a reasonable point.

"By the way, it's about time you told me your name. Like I said earlier, I'm Yuurai."

"...Rifiris. My name over there was Hinata Yukine. 'Hinata' as in sun, and 'Yukine' as in sound of happiness."

"I see. I'm Yuurai. ...My name over there... what was it again? I forgot already."

In truth, she remembered, but chose to pretend she didn't.

Rifiris might be able to guess her original gender from her name. Telling her carelessly might cause confusion.

"Ah, just so you know, the fact that we're reincarnators is a secret between you and me, okay? I haven't even told my comrades."

"Got it. I'll keep it secret."

"Alright. Then I'm off to slay the Angel. Rifiris, wait here..."

"Take me with you. I don't want to stay here anymore..."

"Alright. Let's go together. But don't hold it against me if you die, okay?"

"...I'll hold it against you, so protect me properly. You're strong, right?"

"Such a demanding little lady."

"...I'm five years old. Unlike you, with your middle schooler-like body."

"Yeah, yeah. ...Excuse me for a moment."

"Huh, what?"

Yuurai picked up Rifiris. A five-year-old's legs would hinder movement.

"Don't bite your tongue."

"Mm."

Yuurai exited the chapel.

The Archangel was radiating light intensely, and buildings were collapsing in its wake. It was even trampling the town itself.

Its target was probably Fia. Apparently, she was still alive.

Yuurai climbed a tall building to get a better view of the situation. Fia was focusing almost entirely on defense, but because the Archangel was attacking without regard for collateral damage, the destruction was quite efficient.

"...That Archangel has huge boobs."

"...Rifiris. Don't say what I've been purposefully avoiding. You're ruining the serious mood."

"B-But... they're just so big..."

"Try to stay focused. The town is actively being destroyed, and lots of people are dying."

"Y-Yeah, you're right. Sorry..."

"Well, I get it. It's hard to feel like this is real."

Yuurai began moving toward the Archangel. Thanks to Fia drawing its attention, she wasn't being obstructed.

However, Fia was probably nearing her limit too. Yuurai didn't yet see her as a comrade, but she had helped her comrades and was helping her now.

(...Using her conveniently and discarding her afterward—that would be just like a Demon King. I should treat Fia properly.)

"...Also, this is faster than running myself."

Yuurai summoned a ten-meter-class Fiend. Since she had Concealment active, even the Archangel wouldn't notice. She climbed onto its shoulder and approached the Archangel.

"No way! You summoned such a huge Monster in an instant!? That's ridiculously overpowered!"

"Well, I am that kind of Monster."

"...You're way too strong, Demon King. A Hero could never match you."

"Ah, so Rifiris really is a Hero? Well, if Rifiris had the power to properly control that Archangel, I'm not sure even I could win."

"No way. I'm never summoning that thing again."

"I see."

Thanks to the Fiend, Yuurai and the others quickly reached the Archangel's feet. Even at ten meters tall, the Fiend only reached the Archangel's knees.

"Demon King, what are you going to do?"

"I want to climb up to the Archangel's head. Rifiris, can you summon an Angel?"

"Impossible. I've got no magic power left."

"I see. Then... bear with me for a bit."

"Huh...?"

"Fiend. Throw us up to the Angel's head."

"...Huh? W-Wait, that's way too reckless..."

The Fiend obediently followed the order, grabbed Yuurai, and hurled her into the sky.

"Aahhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

Rifiris screamed. Yuurai figured if she had the energy to scream, she was fine. A normal person would've passed out. As expected of a Hero, her body was tough.

Yuurai and the others reached the top of the Archangel's head and began to fall. She had been worried because the Fiend acted rather roughly, but they somehow made it. Since the footing was unstable, she grabbed onto the Archangel's hair.

"...I'm going to die. I shouldn't have come..."

"It's too late for regrets."

"I'll defeat you someday."

"Don't joke about that. It's not funny."

"So, what now? This Archangel doesn't even seem to notice we're on top of it, and normal attacks probably won't work, right?"

"I'm not going to attack. I'm going to take control."

"...How?"

"I don't know if it'll work. But I think it might. Just watch."

Yuurai gently set Rifiris down on the Archangel's head. Rifiris clung to her nervously.

(The Evil God said that when I fight as the Demon King, I should use that name. It would let me draw on a different power than Corruption. And the Demon King... should have the power to command others. Also...)

A magic she had never had the chance to use before might finally come in handy.

"I wonder if Rifiris knows. The strongest demon, Satan, is said to be what the angel Lucifer became after falling into Hell. Well, I'm not sure about the details, so I might be wrong."

"I sort of know... So what about it...?"

"I'm going to make this thing fall and become a demon. Then I'll make it my servant."

"...Huh? Is that even possible...?"

"Won't know until I try."

The Evil God said that this Archangel could be dealt with.

Then it must be possible.

"......Now then, I suppose I should introduce myself. I've always said I was just a Demon King in name only, but just for now, I will fight as the Demon King. ......I am the Dark Witch and the Demon King, Filanzer. With my power, I will crush you."

Magic overflowed from within Yuurai.

It was an overwhelming amount of magic, enough to cancel out the Concealment Magic.
