The Incubus System Chapter 801. Annoying Prisoner

Puriel blinked at my response. "Half-consent? How does that even work?"

I rubbed my temples, feeling a headache coming on. "Well, you see, in my line of work, things aren't always black and white. Sometimes, a little persuasion is necessary to get the job done. But I assure you, I don't cross any lines."

Puriel's reaction was nothing short of dramatic. She gasped, her hand flying up to cover her mouth in sheer disbelief. Her eyes widened to the size of saucers as she grappled with the revelation I'd just dropped on her.

"Persuasion? So, you're already down that evil path? Did you... did you rape them? How many girls?" she asked, her voice trembling with shock.

I held up my hands defensively. "Whoa, whoa, slow down there," I protested. "It wasn't rape. Not even close." I pursed my lips, searching for the right words to explain the complex situations. "Okay, maybe I... talked sweetly to them. But in my defense, one of them was my stalker, and the other was a demon hunter wannabe."

Puriel's brow arched, a skeptical expression etched across her features. "So, let me get this straight," she began, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "You want to say that you did it all for the 'Greater Good'?"

I shrugged. "Kinda," I admitted as I pondered how to elaborate on my rather unorthodox approach to dealing with certain individuals. "Look, Puriel. Sometimes, to protect innocent people or maintain the balance between realms, you have to resort to unconventional methods."

She leaned in closer, her azure eyes searching mine for any signs of deception. "And these 'unconventional methods' include sweet-talking your way into someone's trust?"

I nodded, acknowledging her astute deduction. "Well, it depends on the situation. You see, there are times when you encounter individuals who are either too stubborn or too dangerous to reason with. In such cases, a little persuasion can go a long way."

Puriel's eyes narrowed as she crossed her arms, clearly not buying into my justifications. "What a lame excuse. You just want to sleep with them, you horny incubus," she complained, her tone dripping with sarcasm. Her hands were planted firmly on her waist, emphasizing her disapproval.

I couldn't help but let out an exasperated sigh. "No, I'm not," I replied.

She arched an eyebrow, clearly unconvinced by my protestations. "Ha!" she scoffed, as if my denials were nothing more than a poorly constructed charade.

I raised a hand in a futile attempt to plead my case. "I'm serious. But I did have my reasons," I defended myself, my words trailing off.

Puriel's skepticism was unwavering, and she didn't hesitate to throw another jab my way. "Because you were horny?" she sneered, a smug grin tugging at her lips.

I shook my head vigorously, desperately trying to make her understand. "No, no, no! It wasn't like that," I protested vehemently. "In the case of my stalker, she had been a persistent thorn in my side for ages. I mean, she was relentless. So, it was a matter of either having her become my woman or getting her out of my life once and for all."

Puriel raised an eyebrow, her expression softening ever so slightly as she considered my words. "So, you're saying you resorted to... a relationship of convenience?" she inquired, her curiosity piqued.

I nodded, relieved that she seemed to be grasping the situation. "Exactly," I replied. "But there's more to it. Her Network company happened to be a valuable asset that I needed at the time. So, I made a decision and decided to take her as my woman."

"And the other one… She wants to take revenge, and she needs strength for that. I'm just helping her," I reiterated, hoping to finally put an end to this particular line of inquiry.

But of course, Puriel wasn't one to accept simple explanations.

"Lame excuses," she retorted, her expression unyielding. Puriel was a tough nut to crack, and it was clear that my attempts at justification weren't gaining any traction.

With an exasperated sigh, I gave her a flat stare. "You are quite annoying for a prisoner, ya know," I grumbled, feeling a growing sense of irritation.

I decided to retreat from the conversation, at least momentarily, and made the impulsive choice to lie down and try to get some rest. My eyes were closed.

But Puriel wasn't about to let me off the hook so easily. "No, don't sleep yet," she insisted, her voice firm and unwavering.

I ignored her and kept my eyes closed.

She shook me vigorously, her voice calling out to me with an urgency that brooked no refusal. "Ethan," she implored.

With a heavy sigh, I reluctantly opened my eyes.

"Now answer me," I began, my voice unwavering and resolute, "About ten years ago, have they ever taken your power in large quantities?"

"Not really," she replied cautiously, my voice low as if merely speaking of those events might resurrect them. "But indeed, they took my angelic power more around that time and started to decrease two years ago. But that has increased again recently," she confessed.

"I see…" I murmured, my mind racing to make sense of the revelation. It was becoming evident that the glowing liquid they had injected into Jill contained a mixture of Puriel's angelic power.

"Why did you ask that?" she inquired, her tone laced with a hint of annoyance.
