The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1417: Archangel of Knives (3)

Rex managed to reach Iris in time.

He could sense the wickedness inside of Stelios and was ready to protect Iris.

Observing Stelios attentively, Rex could gauge his strength and abilities and prepared a counter to deal with him. Casting the King of Kings skill as well as the Latch of Chains skill simultaneously, he easily suppressed Stelios' abilities.

Choosing the Latch of Chains skill was the right thing to do.

It would be way harder to fight someone like Stelios without such a locking skill.

Despite not being able to tap into Nivellen's power properly, he could still deal with this kind of enemy.

Boom!

Managing to strike a savage uppercut, empowered by the Brutal Impulse ability, Rex knocked Stelios off the ground and even broke some of the bones in his wings. Not stopping at that— keeping a merciless flow of attack, he leaped and charged his claws with all kingly energies.

Enhanced with the Primordial Step skill, he easily reached Stelios by the time it took for him to blink.

It was a flawless combo, leaving Stelios with no way to avoid this attack.

Recognizing that this was a real chance for him to land a direct hit to Stelios and potentially swing the tide of the battle in his direction, Rex also poured his red force and cast Honeyed Claws skill into his claws—and slashed down in a vicious arc.

His sharp black steel claws, coated with gold liquid pierced the air, creating a sharp grating sound.

No matter how strong he is, he wouldn't be able to come out of this unscathed!

Swoosh!

Rex poured everything into this attack.

In the next second, his eyes widened when his reality suddenly distorted like a broken movie.

Everything became blurry and broken but it returned back to normal in an instant.

However, once it returned back to normal, his eyes widened seeing that his claws missed—Stelios oddly shifted a couple of meters to the side, avoiding his slash by a hair's length. Rex could not stop his arc and missed, he couldn't believe that he missed.

What happened…?

Just before he could register what had happened, Stelios slapped Rex away with his wing.

Boasting his insanely fast reflex, Rex managed to hold onto Stelios' wing before he was thrown away.

He dragged Stelios with the momentum, hurling them both hundreds of meters away.

Rex reacted this way so that he would still be in the way between Stelios and Iris.

And he succeeded.

Both of them rolled across the snowy ground roughly, the influx of energy that was produced by their clash was probably reaching the Zahara Consortium they didn't care. Stopping exactly across each other on their bellies, Rex and Stelios gazed ahead and slowly pushed themselves up to their feet.

A daunting smile crossed Stelios face while a frown crossed Rex's.

Despite his success in keeping Stelios away from Iris, that move earlier was scary.

It felt like I had no control, almost as if nothing in my arsenal could block that distortion. Even though he somehow managed to avoid my attack which should've been inevitable—I still had a fraction of a second to redirect my attack to him again.

With my reaction speed, I definitely could do that. I know I could do that. But somehow, I can't.

It's like every essence of my being acknowledged that I missed and there's nothing I could do.

System, what the heck was that?

Spooked by that ability, Rex shifted to the System for help.

He knew that the System, with its upgrade, could easily analyze that eerie occurrence.

And he was right.

<Scanning complete!>

<At that moment, the user was struck by a Heavengate's Retribution called Slash of Destiny>

Upon reading the notifications, Rex tilted his head as a thought came to mind.

Is it the same as the Demons' Hellgate Ruination?

Rex recognized the name of the skill was similar to the skill used by the Demon Lords he fought in the past, so he couldn't help but wonder if a Heavengate Retribution was similar to the Hellgate Ruination, a troublesome skill.

<Yes, it's an ultimate ability akin to an Awakened's Pneuma Spell and a Werewolf's Moon Ability>

Does it mean this power is unique to only Stelios?

<Yes, each Archangel has their own Heavengate Retribution>

What does it do, this Slash of Destiny?

<It's an ability that tapped into the power of the celestial realm, borrowing a power from the Angels' God to sever a destiny that the caster doesn't want happening. Anything that was severed would be destined to not happen>

"What…?" Rex whispered in shock, he couldn't believe what he was reading. "It's that strong?"

Despite being almost able to be calm in any situation, his expression betrayed him.

Such an ability was way stronger than anything he had ever heard.

And worst of all, this wasn't Void!

Once again, Rex was reminded that Stelios was not the strongest Angel, he was only one of many—Archangels under Void. Even though he was only an Archangel, his ability was completely broken, the ability was beyond Rex's wildest expectations.

Now with the information of the ability, he realized what had happened earlier.

Initially, he thought Stelios used a movement ability that moved him a few meters to the side but as it turns out, he was the one who was moved instead. On top of that, the feeling of him accepting that he had missed wasn't his either.

It was an induced feeling from the Slash of Destiny ability.

Stelios must've cut the destiny of his attack striking him earlier, making it inevitable for him to miss.

"You look pale," Stelios suddenly commented, straightening his back. "Are you still confident?"

Upon hearing this, Rex snapped out of his trance.

Possessing such a strong ability, I'm sure he couldn't use it multiple times in a row. It must've some sort of drawback or else he would've avoided by uppercut earlier. No need for me to be shaken. But this also tells me to avoid this battle.

Rex came to a decision.

Once Iris got into a safe distance, he would be escaping from Stelios.

He didn't need to fight.

Inspecting Stelios, Rex narrowed his gaze, trying to remember how Stelios used the Slash of Destiny.

Tch! It's no use, I didn't catch how he did it. Even if I know how he did it, I can't use the Seize of Twilight Moon Ability. Not when Nivellen was in her state, it would only burden her. I could only hope that he couldn't use it more than once at a time.

Swoosh!

Just then, Rex's eyes focused back ahead and saw a knife heading towards him.

Creating a barrier of red force, the knife clashed against the barrier—creating huge friction.

Upon clashing, a reddish steam sizzled from the knife, causing Rex's eyes to widen.

He's also a force user? What can't he do?!

Empowered by this red force, the knife cuts in a few centimeters deep before being deflected.

It pierced and shattered the ground to the side.

Despite Rex's more powerful red force than normal, trained to push through the limit of possibilities, Stelios' red force didn't lose out too much. Since the knife was able to pierce through a bit, it was clear that his red force was also very strong.

"Strong red force, the strongest I've seen," Stelios applauded. "But how about this?!"

Grabbing two more knives from inside his robe, Stelios threw one at Rex and the other to Iris.

Upon seeing this, Rex protected himself again from the deadly knife and created another red force barrier to intercept the one heading towards Iris. A powerful clanging sound resounded when the knife hit his barrier.

Rex gritted his teeth, the knife felt heavier now than before.

However, his attempt failed as it quickly pierced through and grazed his shoulder.

It was the same with the barrier protecting Iris' behind.

Crash!

Unable to contain the concentrated force from the knife's tip, it pierced through the barrier and cut through the distance between it and Iris. Rex's eyes widened—as the knife pierced through Iris, drilling a hole through her chest.

Her head snapped back violently before she was throttled forward by the force of the impact.

It was not a fatal wound.

Iris was able to react in time and avoid having a deadly blow to her heart thanks to the red force barrier.

But even then, she was still hurt and fell to the snowy plain weakly.

Seeing this made Rex's eyes turn red—anger burns his face as he would not accept someone being sacrificed when he's around. That would make him a failure, that would show him that he wasn't able to protect the ones near him.

And he couldn't have that.

ROAR!!

Boom!!

Rex's aura exploded outward, vaporizing the snow around him as he let out a dominant roar.

He glared at Stelios with his power on full display.

Being faced with Rex at full power, Stelios spread his arms—welcoming the challenge.

As a Werewolf Hunter, he wasn't going to back away from a confrontation like this.

Swoosh!

Empowered by his wrath, Rex's aura surged higher, and in the blink of an eye, he vanished from his spot and reached Stelios. Channeling origin energy into his claws, he hacked Stelios across his face, leaving drawing blood from that attack.

Giving no time to breathe, Rex charged forward and bit down on his shoulder.

Sinking his fangs deeply, using his Absolute Predominance Fangs to burn through the flesh, Rex didn't show mercy and whipped his head upward—throwing Stelios toward the sky. Making this move, he was also influenced by the Primordial Step skill.

He was on the second step yet his speed was already blazing fast.

Rex struck Stelios again, hurling him away like a ragdoll.

Despite the blistering speed with which Stelios was hurled away, Rex closed the distance in a heartbeat, his third step thundering against the ground with a powerful surge of moonlight energy. In a blur of motion, he appeared behind Stelios and unleashed another devastating strike, sending him hurtling in the opposite direction.

The brutal momentum from the impact only amplified Rex's relentless assault.

With ruthless precision, Rex followed through with a third strike, battering Stelios lie a ping pong.

Each blow came faster and more punishing than the last, leaving no room for reprieve.

And all of that happened in a span of a single blink, ex unleashed three deadly blows in that moment.

Once he was on the fifth step, Rex stopped and charged his fist—vicious flows of kingly energy could be seen flowing down from his King Mark to his fist. Naturally, Rex was going to use the strongest skill he has in his arsenal—the Brutal Impulse Moon Ability.

"Raarggh!" Rex grunted as he delivered the violent punch, summoning sinister writings to reality.

However, as he did that, something weird happened.

<Warning: the user's emotion has been cut!>

Following this notification, Rex could feel the anger inside of him suddenly vanish completely.

His eyes widened as a whisper crept out of his lips, "What happened…?"

Experiencing a sudden drop in anger made his Brutal Impulse ability weaker and also created a gap, that Stelios took advantage of perfectly, "Did not I tell you?" He whispered hauntingly. "I'm a Werewolf Hunter, I'm tailored to defeat you!"

Crash!

Stabbing both wings forward, Rex's eyes widened when his Brutal Impulse ability was canceled.

No, it's not canceled—but deflected instead, firing the beam skyward.

Despite the bleeding wound inflicted by Rex's consecutive attacks earlier, a flicker of amusement could be seen dancing in Stelios' eyes at the sight of Rex's stunned expression. Seizing the moment, Stelios' hand darted, his gaze glinting with dangerous intent as he prepared to strike back.

Just then, a moonlight string could be seen materializing above Rex.

Giving no thought to his move, Stelios swung—aiming to sever Rex's connection to the moon.

'No Werewolves stood a chance once I cut their connection to the moon' Stelios thought evilly.

As his knife was about to reach the string, a devastating force struck his guts from below.

It caused Stelios' eyes to widen, coughing a mouthful of blood.

"Didn't you say it yourself…?" Rex chimed with a playful smile. "I'm not only a Werewolf!"
