The Invincible Full-Moon System

Chapter 1489 1489: Not From This Realm

Great Elder Rosa turned to look at Viora and could tell from her face that it was the truth.

Rex was telling the truth.

For some reason, Viora was the one who approached him.

But that doesn't make sense since Rex and Viora did not have a history, even Rex confessed that today was their first time meeting. Something was odd here but Rex gave her no time to think, "Priestess Viora, regardless of our situation, do you want to help me?"

"Y- Yes…" Viora answered whisperingly, avoiding Great Elder Rosa's gaze.

Once she said that, Rex smiled.

"I have no bad intention, I don't threaten her to do anything, and she still wanted to help me," Rex repeated—forcing Great Elder Rosa to focus on him—again. "Do you still want to believe that I'm a bad person? Someone who could threaten you and your house?"

At that moment, Great Elder Rosa didn't understand what was going on.

But Rex already painted the narrative clearly.

If she still insists that he was someone bad then she would look ridiculous.

"I'm not a dangerous individual, I'm only lucky to meet with Priestess Viora," He continued.

"Perhaps I'm being too rash," Great Elder Rosa nodded in understanding—but she still didn't move from her spot, she had no intention of sitting down. "But you must understand, there's a reason I'm acting like this, and I believe you are aware of that reason"

Upon hearing this, Rex frowned—he didn't know what she meant by that.

Intruding into the fortress was what he thought instantly.

But from Great Elder Rosa's face, he couldn't help but feel that it was something else.

Just then, Rex's eyes flared for a brief second before returning to cold again.

"You're not from this realm, you're from the Mortal Realm," Great Elder Rosa suddenly said.

Viora's eyes widened when she heard this.

She found it odd initially that another candidate appeared out of nowhere, one that nobody knew, and now it all made sense. Rex wasn't from this real. He was the candidate from the Mortal Realm, someone who crossed over here.

Rex, on the other hand, frowned hard when he heard this.

He didn't expect his real identity to be exposed that easily.

Then again—he was not that surprised since someone from the Spirit Realm crossed over to the Mortal Realm, a lot of individuals would certainly realize like himself, the Witch of Chaos, or even a seer like Qonvale.

Since the Aurelius Noble House was of nobility, this wasn't surprising.

It wasn't surprising for them to have someone like her.

Someone who could easily tell that Rex was from the Mortal Realm.

Viora was shocked but she quickly recovered.

Though this was shocking, it didn't change the fact Rex was one of the Scions of the Vertex.

He was destined to be strong regardless of his origin.

"Now…" Great Elder Rosa smirked, walked past Rex, and sat down. "Now we can talk,"

Pausing for a second, Rex nodded and sat down across from Great Elder Rosa.

And from the first time since he stayed in the Spirit Realm, he took someone seriously.

From another room to the side, Amanir and Linthia were observing silently.

Rex told them to wait in the other room earlier—none of them knew the exact reason but they assumed he didn't want them to be on the way. Talking with a noble like Great Elder Rosa could turn badly as quickly as a snap of the fingers.

"Our fate here would depend on that woman accepting to do Rex a favor," Amanir mumbled.

Linthia turned towards him, "What happens if she doesn't?"

"Then we're all in trouble, Rex only has a limited time in the Spirit Realm—and if that woman refused to help, we'd still go to the Nameless Dragon Arena tournament," Amanir explained, there was a tinge of worry in his tone. "Rex would try to gain Princess Davina's attention no matter the cost and that's not a good thing"

Despite his answer, Linthia could tell there was a reason more profound than that.

For some reason, Amanir wasn't willing to say it out loud.

"What are you really worried about?" Linthia finally asked directly.

She could tell from his face that he was dancing around what he truly worried about.

Upon hearing this Amanir sighed, "Can you not feel it too?"

"Feel what?" Linthia asked, leaning closer curiously.

"Rex... the air around him grows heavier—more volatile with each passing day, "He murmured as his eyes remained fixed on Rex, who sat on the sofa, his expression hard—as stone. "He is like a slumbering volcano, its peak already smoking. Sooner or later, he'll erupt and when that happens..."

Amanir exhaled sharply, "He's a Werewolf. A rampage won't just be ugly, it'll be catastrophic"

Linthia gulped when she heard this.

She remembered the incident that befall Ratmawati City.

Back when she was still in hiding, blending with Humans, the incident caused quite a ruckus.

Many thought Humanity in the continent would perish as Ratmawati City was about to fall.

Millions died at the hands of a rogue Royal Black Prince, which was Rex.

So Rex going on a rampage here would be unimaginably bad.

Not to mention, there was also the problem that here, in the Spirit Realm, they were isolated.

No Evelyn, no Kyran, no Adhara, Flunra, and even Gistella.

If Rex really did explode and went on a rampage, there would be no stopping him. When that day arrived, blood would drown the Spirit Realm. And now that Amanir said it—Linthia began to also become conscious of the weird air around Rex.

Since he remained stoic, it was hard to tell what was in his mind.

But seeing that the air emanating from him was changing into a lethal one, Rex must be really holding back something inside. Perhaps, he was holding back his violent side. And as Amanir said, he could explode at any moment.

'He did say everything depended on this journey,' Linthia thought inside worriedly.

Rex said that if he failed, the Empire would crumble along with everything that he built.

It was enough of a reason for Rex to feel more and more pressured by each passing day.

Even though it was hard to read what was in his mind, Rex underestimated them—he thought that they would be oblivious but they weren't. Linthia and Amanir realized the shift, and although did not say it aloud—they were preparing for the worst.

On the other hand, Great Elder Rosa finally opened her mouth.

"What are you doing here in our realm?" She asked with a firm tone.

Though it was a question, it was more of a demand towards Rex—she was scrutinizing Rex thoroughly.

But inside, Great Elder Rosa's heart was pounding.

She observed Rex up and down, probed him with her life energy, and realized that despite his origin, his current body is in fact, an actual spirit. At this moment, he wasn't a being from the Mortal Realm, he was actually a spirit exactly like everyone else in this realm.

And that caused her to frown, it was a troubling realization.

'Throughout history, there were only a couple of entities that could cross into this realm by creating an actual spirit body. It's a long-lost technique, the last time was several millennia ago' She thought, both worried and amazed at the same time. 'Had it not for him being sloppy, I wouldn't have realized he's from the Mortal Realm'

However, the fact that she almost couldn't tell what Rex was was nott what she was worried about.

'How long is he going to stay in our realm…?' She thought inside.

Since his body was like this, she couldn't tell how long Rex could stay in this realm.

And that begged the question, what if he could stay here permanently?

"I can't tell you the reason why I came to this realm," Rex finally answered, his gaze unflinching as he contemplated on what to say with a pause. "But I'm not here to cause a ruckus or with bad intentions, I can attest to that, you can rest assured. I'm nothing more than a passerby"

"Passerby…" Great Elder Rosa squinted—she liked that word. "How long are you planning to stay?"

"A bit over a month. Sooner if I get what I wanted," Rex replied.

Considering that Great Elder Rosa knew about his origin, she basically holds a card over Rex.

If she wanted to, she could capture Rex or inform him to the Spirit Emperor.

So there was no point in lying to Great Elder Rosa, he was going to tell the truth instead.

For a fleeting moment that felt like hours, Great Elder Rosa remained silent, watching Rex as if she were deliberating inside whether she should help or not. As she glanced over to Viora, who was as nervous as Rex as if her life was on the line too.

"Even so, is there any real reason I should help?" Great Elder Rosa shot a question.

Rex leaned forward and clasped his hands together.

He stared at Great Elder Rosa—with his crimson eyes, pausing an uncomfortable amount of time before he opened his mouth, "I have quite some standing in the Mortal Realm. I have a lot of things going on. Many people I care for and also many enemies,"

Upon hearing this, Great Elder Rosa raised an eyebrow, "What are you down there?"

"I'm an Emperor," Rex answered with a flat tone.

Great Elder Rosa didn't react but Viora sucked in a cold breath when she heard this.

As she expected, a Scion is never someone normal.

"I can't tell you the reason I'm in this ream, but I can tell you this. If I fail, I lose everything," Rex said, his voice dropping an octave lower with each word. "I'm trying to be civil because I have too much at stake, but if I fail here… I'll get angry, and I can't promise how things will turn out then"

"Oh, there it is," Great Elder Rosa smiled in amusement. "Are you threatening me?"

"Am I?" Rex mused without an expression.

Just then, sensing the crackling tension once again, Viora intervened.

"Great elder," She called with a professional tone. "We must be diplomatic about this,"

Rex gestured towards Viora once he heard that, gesturing for Great Elder Rosa to listen to what she had to say, "Here's the deal, you will help me with some things, and in return, I'd do anything you want. You can ask me to give or do anything on behalf of the Aurelius Noble House,"

As soon as he finished saying that, his eyes slightly widened.

A sharp, primal warning surged through his senses—danger.

His senses, honed by countless battles, screamed at him but the warning came too late.

Before Rex could react, a jagged, thorn-laced blade was already at his throat.

Despite the obvious, Rex didn't move from his spot. He had the intention of moving but even if he wanted to, he could not. Thorned roots had already coiled around his limbs, tightening with unnatural strength. The sharp barbs dug into his flesh, drawing thin lines of blood that seeped into the twisted, pulsating veins.

Then, Rex saw it.

A monstrosity of roses and thorns, humanoid in form yet utterly alien, loomed behind him.

Its blackened, bark-like armor gleamed under the chandelier's light.

Its spindly limbs were adorned with spiraling, living thorns that twitched as though savoring their capture.

Meeting Rex's gaze, the creature tilted its head slightly—its crimson, faceless visage burning like embers in the void. A dark crown of thorned roses rested upon its head, regal yet ominous. No sound, presence, anything.

This thing had moved faster than even his senses could register.

Seeing this, Viora's heart skipped a beat.

She couldn't believe it, Great Elder Rosa was actually threatening a Scion!

Before anything happened, Viora wanted to stop her but she couldn't.

Her body refused to move, shackled by the tension.

"Let's say that I kill you right now," Great Elder Rosa said—still sitting gracefully with both her hands stacked above her thighs. "That blade would slice unevenly through your throat, blood splashed everywhere until your head was severed from your body. Your soul will be banished back to your realm and that would be the end,"

"Other than the hassle of calling someone to clean the bloodstains, what could you possibly do to me?" She added, stating the fact as clear as the day. "From my point of view—I see no consequence heading my way"
