THE LEGENDARY TRAVELER WITH SYSTEM (DxD/Multiverse)

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: With Great Powers Comes Great Responsibility

'Now I understand why this is a High-Mid Rank dimension...'

The strength demonstrated by Supergirl, or even by the Fake Santa Claus, barely reached the power of a High-Class Devil.

And, from what he could see and hear from the people shouting for Supergirl to kill the Fake Santa Claus, things were going from bad to worse for her.

Therefore, as Zaydas saw her hesitating while the Fake Santa Claus entered what seemed to be a second phase, he spoke while floating in the air: "Just kill him."

...

"What?" Mechanically turning around, she was slightly surprised to see who it was.

"Why are you here?" she yelled upon realizing it was the same boy from the restaurant earlier. "Don't you see he's entering the second phase? I can't—"

"But, Supergirl, if you don't kill him, many people will die, right?" Zaydas interrupted her, smiling slightly. "And if you're defeated, does running away now accomplish anything?"

"You dare to smile?" she snapped at him.

"If you don't do it, I will." He removed his hands from his pockets, floating a few meters away from her.

"No! You can't!" she protested.

"Why not?" Zaydas pointed to people not far away in the city. "Look, do you see them? If you hesitate now, many innocent lives will be lost. But why? Why should the lives of villains matter? What about those who are brutally murdered, as he himself said?"

"I... No, no, you're wrong!" She messed up her hair, clearly confused.

"Supergirl, with great powers comes great responsibility," Zaydas warned. "If you stay on the fence, you're not being a hero, you're being a coward!"

"I am not a coward!" she shouted.

Meanwhile, the Fake Santa Claus was nearly completing his transition into the second phase.

Sighing, Zaydas said, "You want to take him alive, right?"

"Yes, that's right," she nodded.

"Okay."

As Zaydas's words dropped, a pair of black mercury wings formed on his back. They curved in a sideways "U" shape, and downward, they split into four curved points that tapered sharply, each about one meter in length.

"What are you?" Supergirl could no longer see him as just a human. Or rather, as human at all.

Zaydas smiled at her but didn't answer. When he moved, his expression turned serious.

"Whoosh!"

"Fast?!"

That was all she could think as she saw him flying.

It was so fast that a sonic boom echoed right after he disappeared, and before she could even process it, Zaydas was already in front of the Fake Santa Claus, who began freezing at an alarming speed. His distorted expression glared at Zaydas with hatred.

Snapping out of her stupor, Supergirl flew toward him.

As she approached, the cold overwhelmed her.

'How cold is the ice he's creating?' she wondered.

Meanwhile, the Fake Santa Claus, with one of his grotesque arms stretched out and now frozen under a thick layer of ice, was entirely encased.

Taking her eyes off what looked like an ice sculpture, she turned around but didn't find what she was looking for: "Where did he go?"

But she didn't have time to think, as the frozen Fake Santa Claus began to fall.

"I'll remember this!" she shouted, flying and catching the frozen Santa Claus from below. Flying into the distance while carrying him, she thought: 'He was annoying, but he said something cool. With great powers comes great responsibility… I'll remember that!'

"We're saved!!"

"Hooray for Supergirl!!"

"Wait, wasn't there someone else helping?"

"How do I not remember?"

"What are you talking about? It was just Supergirl fighting that monster!"

At home, Zaydas lay on the bed, arms and legs spread out, staring at the ceiling.

Freezing that Fake Santa Claus, even though it seemed easy and simple, took a lot of Demonic Power to create ice that strong and resilient at such a scale. It didn't drain him completely, but it left him concerned in case he needed to do something like that again in the future.

When he returned to his dimension, he had less than 50% of his Demonic Power left. Of course, about 15% of it had been spent just to perform the Dimensional Leap. Not everything had been used up healing the girl and freezing the Fake Santa Claus.

'That Supergirl… She seems young, at most 20 years old,' he thought. 'If I had stayed there, it would've been problematic.'

Just from Supergirl's attitude, he could tell that even though she hadn't killed the Fake Santa Claus, she might have asked him a lot of questions—questions he didn't want to answer.

This wasn't running away; it was a strategic retreat to avoid a troublesome woman...

'I need to get stronger… Not just that, I want to expand my arsenal of useful abilities,' Zaydas thought to himself. 'Great Sage, I want to open the third gate.'

[Affirmative!]

[- 4,000 AP]

In the next moment, locked information was unlocked as the gate opened.

'Telepathy and Hypnosis…'

They weren't bad abilities, but he could already use them—though now they had become more powerful. Believe it, they were at least 200% stronger compared to before, so the cost had been worth it. But again, they weren't exactly what he wanted right now.

Thinking for a moment, he commanded: 'Great Sage, open the fourth gate.'

[Affirmative!]

[- 8,000 AP]

In his mind, records locked behind the "gate" were inserted into his brain: information about Flight and Aerokinesis.

Two abilities that practically complemented each other.

He was tempted to open the next gate, but before gaining some control over his new powers, he didn't intend to continue unlocking more gates.

'This should be enough for now.' Zaydas then got up. 'It's still early morning here… First, I'll head to the INN dimension to rest and recover my Demonic Power. After that, I'll return to the DC AU Dimension.'

Zaydas appeared right above the Great Tree.

Zabuton, who usually didn't come out, became alert, but upon seeing him, returned to its burrow.

Flying, Zaydas wanted to test his new abilities, starting with Flight and Aerokinesis.

He had already been capable of flying, but the hidden knowledge from the flight ability turned him into a master of the skies, basically. It was as if he had lived his whole life as a bird, and flying was like walking for people: as natural as it was swift.

And when he used Aerokinesis, his speed doubled.

By using the wind, he essentially became part of it... To simplify, it was like a ghost, where not even a thick wall could stop him from passing through. In Zaydas's case, the wind simply moved around him without the slightest resistance. Because of this, it didn't produce any sound.

'This is incredible!' Zaydas mentally exclaimed.

He managed to go from 0 to a thousand miles per hour in the blink of an eye.

This speed was far beyond his previous capability.

Zaydas wanted to test something. He stopped mid-air, but he wasn't truly still. His entire body was moving at an incredibly high speed while he remained in place. However, while he himself was moving rapidly yet stationary, everything around him seemed to be in slow motion.

The falling snow, the running animals... In short, it was as if he could slow down time when, in reality, he was moving at an extremely high frequency—even his eyes—which made everything appear slow to him now.

'This is cool, but incredibly tiring to maintain…'

While this could be very useful in combat, it overwhelmed his body and mind. Even his eyes started to ache a bit.

Stopping, he began flying normally again until he landed on a tree, sitting on one of its branches.

Several hours later…

'Great Sage, mark the coordinates of the DC AU Dimension.'

[Done!]

[Beauty Salon – Elegant]

A typical playboy was watching two beautiful girls: one with black hair in twin ponytails with red streaks, and the other with straight blonde hair featuring red ombré tips, a side fringe, and strands falling to her chest.

The playboy, who had short, light-brown hair styled casually, expressive brown eyes, wore a discreet earring in his left ear, and displayed a calm, confident smile, saw that the two girls were about to leave and confidently walked toward them.

The black-haired girl, holding a lollipop between her fingers, imagined what he might say.

However, contrary to her expectations, he pointed at the accessory on the blonde girl's bag, holding back a laugh.

"Hey, hey, isn't that thing from an anime?" He laughed with his eyes closed, speaking mockingly: "Wow, you're such an otaku!"

His voice became shrill with his mocking laugh: "What garbage~!"

"The garbage here is you."

A cold voice echoed from behind the playboy, and he turned around angrily but froze immediately after.

"Move aside."

Bumping his shoulder against the playboy's, making him stumble into the counter, Zaydas, who had said that, began walking away.

"Wow…" The girl holding the lollipop between her fingers let it fall to the ground without even noticing.

Whether because of his attitude or his looks, he was ten times... No, a thousand times better than that guy!

"Did you see that, Marin? Ahh, so cool~"

"Yes, I saw. Calm down, Nowa."

"But, but…"

"By the way, he's already gone."

"That's such a shame…"

"Who was he…?"

"Did you say something, Marin?"

"Nothing at all."

Meanwhile, the playboy from before looked as if his soul had left his body. He stood there petrified, leaning against the counter, unable to react. Soon, a yellow bodily fluid began trickling down his legs...

"Ew, he wet himself!"
