Chapter 230: Lord Meeting
The Padric family's carriage slowly entered Black Wind Castle.
Seeing the familiar golden emblem, the demon guards at the town's entrance hurriedly made way.
Feistin lifted the curtain of the carriage window and instructed the guard standing next to him.
"Go to the City Hall and tell the people there that the true owner of this land, their Lord, has arrived."
"Yes!"
The demon guard nodded quickly, mounted his skeleton horse, and galloped towards the City Hall, not daring to stop for a moment.
Feistin sat back in the carriage and signaled the driver to continue on their way, heading directly to the Lord's Mansion.
This master-level Shadow Demon gave plenty of face to the Demon King beside him, even though this Demon King was only at the Silver Level.
Luo Yan appreciated Mr. Feistin's goodwill, nodded in gratitude, and then lifted a corner of the curtain, casting his eyes over the thriving city as the carriage resumed its journey, admiring his territory.
The situation here was indeed quite incredible. In just a few months, such a large transformation had occurred, with a city built on wasteland. Even though he was somewhat prepared, he was still slightly shocked by the scene before him.
In the Underworld, there was no sunlight. The mirror light towers at the top of the Magic Crystal Cannon Factory emitted a soft glow akin to moonlight, illuminating the entire city.
At this moment, the Underworld was welcoming the morning. The factory bells rang across the city skyline, announcing the start of a new day. Goblin laborers, dragging their fatigued bodies, exited their homes, yawning as they streamed along the paved roads towards the factory. Some old craftsmen were guiding young apprentices at the gate, while market vendors began busily organizing their goods.
Everything was in a lively yet orderly manner.
Luo Yan's lips curved up slightly.
Even though he could see that Black Wind Castle still harbored many unstable factors, at least now it was no longer an isolated island with nothing.
The carriage stopped at the entrance of the Lord's Mansion.
It was a three-story villa, with exterior walls constructed from dark stone bricks, solemn yet not lacking in luxury.
The two stone statues at the entrance were especially valuable at first glance.
Feistin was the first to alight, smiling slightly as he said, "This was built with your money."
Luo Yan got off the carriage and looked up at the building, his expression complex.
"What a waste," he said with a hint of helplessness in his tone. "I come back only a few times a year."
"A Lord needs to maintain a certain level of prestige, otherwise his servants might forget his existence or suspect you have a mountain of debt. I've saved you as much money as possible, but necessary expenses must be made," Feistin said with a light smile, pausing for a moment before adding, "Besides, Mia hopes you'll come back to see her more often."
Luo Yan paused for a moment in silence, then nodded gently and walked forward.
The news of the Lord's visit spread quickly throughout the city, as if it had grown wings. Prominent figures in Black Wind Castle gathered at the doorstep of the Lord's Mansion, waiting to pay homage to the true master of this land.
Among the crowd were wealthy merchants from the Trade Union, craftsmen from the Craftsmen Association, mercenary leaders, and curious citizens. There were goblins, little demons, beastmen, and a few rare humans like Luo Yan.
The former gathered near the carriage, offering compliments and flattery to Luo Yan. It was just like when Edward visited Thunder City. Sometimes, Hell and the surface really weren't that different.
Meanwhile, the onlooking citizens surrounded the area, craning their necks to get a better view or flying onto rooftops, whispering among themselves endlessly.
The biggest difference between them and citizens of Thunder City was probably just their smaller numbers and their varied kinds.
"Is that the legendary Demon King?"
"A vampire? Or an Enchanting Demon? It can't possibly be a human... What race is he?"
"He looks more composed than I imagined... Hopefully, he can keep Black Wind Castle prospering."
"Why does the Padric family support him so much? Is there some other deal?"
"Shh! Don't let him hear you..."
Little demons everywhere tend to speak without restraint.
Luo Yan listened to these discussions, his expression remaining calm.
He was well aware that his every move was being scrutinized by the numerous factions in Black Wind Castle. They were guessing, evaluating... and he was silently observing them too.
Feistin stood beside Luo Yan, smiling as he spoke softly.
"If you want to get to know your subjects, the simplest way is to call them to a meeting."
"That's exactly what I plan to do."
Luo Yan stood at the entrance of the Lord's Mansion, his eyes sweeping over the crowd that had come to greet him, his voice loud and clear as he spoke.
"Since everyone is here, let's go inside."
The distinguished upper-class participants exchanged glances, suppressing their doubts, and entered the Lord's Mansion one by one.
Even several citizens who had initially just come to see the commotion were, due to Luo Yan's random selection, messily invited inside by the guards at the mansion's entrance.
Mia gently held Luo Yan's arm, smiling as she followed him inside, silently asserting her claim, while also seemingly demonstrating the Padric family's support.
Vivian, though wearing a cold expression, was clearly able to see Mia's effort in helping her brother, thus said nothing, simply moving gracefully to squeeze in on the other side of Luo Yan.
Feistin observed with a smile, his eyes full of interest, yet he made no comment.
