The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 235: The Distant Battle

At the same time that the Padric family's banquet reached its climax, faraway Seldo Port also welcomed a new day under the twilight of dawn.

This bustling port, standing on the eastern coast of the New Continent, was once the forward post of the Aus Empire's Gold Route. Despite the passage of time making it less glorious than in its prime, it remains a significant stronghold for the Empire on the New Continent and a crucial supply channel for the Imperial Navy in the region.

The port, built along the mountains, stretches across the winding coastline with dense stone brick buildings shimmering like fish scales in the sunlight. On the wide docks, merchant ships and warships were docked interchangeably, and the massive cranes were slowly lifting and lowering, stably transporting crates of supplies to the warehouses.

Dock workers and soldiers flowed back and forth, each performing their duties, maintaining the prosperous operation of the port.

All should have been as such—

Yet today was different, as a loud explosion shattered the morning silence, and when people awoke from their serene dreams, Seldo Port was already stained with blood and fire!

"The volcano! The volcano has erupted!"

"Damn it... how many years has it been dormant, and why today of all days?!"

Gazing at the billowing smoke rising from afar, the faces of the residents at the port were filled with terror.

The once-busy docks are now crammed with ships hastily evacuating, the streets pervading with a sense of burn, and soldiers running and shouting on the city walls. The sea to the west surged with waves, while to the north, the millennium-slumbering volcano finally awoke. Billowing black smoke shot up to the sky, and the burning magma, like crimson serpents, slithered down the ridges, devouring everything in its path. Scattered flames drifted into the city, instantly igniting into raging fires.

But what truly brings despair is not the roar of the volcano, but the aura of death that quietly creeps in under the guise of the eruption.

The moment the volcano erupted, the billowing smoke and lava rampaged around, illuminating the northern mountains of Seldo Port!

Amidst this chaos, a shadow exuding the presence of Netherworld Energy silently arrived.

General Sebes, the Fear Demon, stood at the volcano's mouth, coldly overlooking the battlefield.

He did not command his army to attack directly but quietly dispatched the Undead Army for a surprise attack under the cover of the eruption.

Clusters of ghosts and skeleton infiltrators traversed through the smoky chaos, stealthily approaching under the cover of the black mist and lava.

They moved like ghosts from the Abyss, silently scaling the northern highlands and swiftly exterminating the sentries stationed there, securing the critical vantage point before the Imperial army realized.

It was a bloodbath.

The Imperial soldiers had no time to react, their full attention on the sudden volcanic eruption, without even having their equipment ready.

Once the highlands were secured, the terrifying war beasts of Hell surged forth. These beasts from the Abyss seemed born for battle, their heavy claws crushing the charred rocks, and their crimson eyes glowed with a bloodthirsty light in the flames.

Their emergence tipped the scale of victory swiftly towards Hell!

However, Sebes did not hastily advance due to the advantage.

He understood well that humans are not as insignificant and weak as other demons might think, and their cunning far exceeds the imagination of the typical demon.

Therefore, he chose to hold tight to the highlands, constructing a strong defensive line and waiting for leisure to act.

Knowing the importance of the northern highlands to Seldo Port, the local garrison quickly organized a counterattack. Imperial gunners lined up for rounds, spellcasters united to cast spells, and even a small bayonet charge was organized in an attempt to reclaim the position from the demons.

However, these counterattacks seemed trivial in the face of the Hell Army's impenetrable defense.

It was Sebes' coldness and patience that dictated the course of this battle.

In the face of the garrison's struggle, he never showed the slightest hint of underestimation but steadily expanded his gains, building a Demon Fortress on the highland. Massive rocks and obsidian transported from Hell were cast into fortified walls; the Undead Mages used the remains of the dead to reinforce the defensive works, while blood-red magic patterns flowed on the fortress, writhing like living creatures.

Twenty Magic Crystal Cannons were then deployed on the ridgeline, their long barrels aimed directly at the core region of Seldo Port.

Sebes' lips curled into a slight smirk, his eyes gleaming with cold disdain—

He had already foreseen the fate of this harbor.

It was destined to meet its end under the shadow of fear.

At least for a time...

...

The Hell army finally completed their deployment, leaving the Imperial garrison with no opportunity for redemption.

When the Magic Crystal Cannons gathered their first trace of magical power, the doom of Seldo Port had already arrived.

The night curtain descended, the acrid scent of sulfur pervading the air like an invisible hand gripping the throat of the entire city. The garrison had just started their night patrol, trying to guard against potential enemy attacks. Yet, before they could steady their footsteps, an eerie red light quietly flashed in the northern mountains.

The next second, a deafening roar ripped through the night sky—

A long beam of light tore through the heavens, howled down, and crashed into the central market of the port.

Boom!

The violent explosion devoured everything in an instant, blazing flames shot to the sky, and the once thriving market turned into a mortal Purgatory in an instant!

Burning rubble and twisted metal scattered like raindrops, the fierce shock wave ripped through the surrounding buildings, tossing the vendors' goods and merchants' bodies alike into the air.

The bloody scent mixed with the thick smoke, spreading out!
