The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 243: Rift

The inspection of the Magic Crystal Cannon Factory is about to conclude.

The goblin engineers in the factory are still immersed in the shock brought by the blueprints depicted by the Demon King. Some are excitedly whispering among themselves, while others are eagerly discussing how to assemble the first prototype. Someone suggested first making a model out of wood, while others ambitiously proposed to use high-quality steel directly. As for Luo Yan, his gaze has already shifted to the distance—a small figure is quickly traversing the bustling area of the factory, striding towards him.

That fellow's name is Snick, the community director of the goblin community.

Although not long ago, he was an out-and-out nobody, ever since he received a promotion from Lord Demon King, becoming the chosen "minion" of the Lord's Mansion. From that day on, this guy has become a prominent figure in the goblin community of Black Wind Castle, with a large group of followers trailing him whenever he goes out. Goblins shorter than him couldn't even see his eyes, only his large nostrils.

But at this moment, he looked serious, with a rare solemn expression, as humble as a tail-wagging French bulldog.

"Lord Demon King—" Snick jogged to Luo Yan's side, panting heavily, desperately trying to appear more formal, "I have important intelligence to report!"

Kun Bu Tongya glanced at Snick, then at Luo Yan, wisely choosing not to inquire further. Instead, he waved to the surrounding craftsmen: "Alright, alright, put the war chariot matter aside for now, everyone get back to work!" He then saluted Luo Yan and led the craftsmen away, leaving behind a relatively quiet space.

Luo Yan stood with hands behind his back under a steel frame outside the workshop, nodding slightly to signal Snick to continue.

Snick licked his lips, a hint of excitement in his eyes, but there was more of a cunning glint.

"Lord Demon King," he lowered his voice, a smug smile formed by the wrinkles on his face, "I have discovered some suspicious fellows in the goblin community."

Luo Yan raised an eyebrow.

"Oh? Be more specific."

Snick lowered his voice again, subconsciously rubbing the corner of his clothes, his tone tinged with a little goblin-specific slyness: "They don't steal, don't rob, don't gamble... They don't even brag about how many treasures they snatched from humans, nor do they flaunt their junk! You might think it's nothing, but they are goblins! I've never seen such quiet and low-key fellows in my life!"

Luo Yan lightly responded with an "Mm," indicating he understood, while Snick diligently continued.

"Your servant—humble me immediately realized their oddness! According to your instructions, I didn't startle the snake, but let my underlings mark these fellows secretly! I later found them to be even more suspicious than I imagined. These guys never work, don't even do small trades, they just wander around the community all day, or they stare at the entrances to the Magic Crystal Cannon Factory!"

At this point, Snick's thin frame suddenly straightened, in a manner suggesting he was seeking credit, he chuckled.

"Lord Demon King! Just one word from you and I can lead people to deal with them! You know we goblins, though generally honest and gentle, will never be lenient in dealing with such deceitful fellows! And I assure you, we won't leave a single trace..."

The corners of his mouth revealed a hint of a dangerous smile, his eyes flickering with bloodthirsty excitement, as if he couldn't wait to gut those sneaky goblins.

However, looking at the eager Snick, Luo Yan merely smiled calmly, speaking nonchalantly.

"No need, just continue to monitor them."

Snick froze for a moment, blinking somewhat in confusion.

"Lord Demon King, are you saying... to leave them be? But... Snick feels they are about to act."

"Isn't that just perfect then."

Luo Yan said calmly.

"Snick, do you wonder why I arranged for you to do these tasks? Do you think I don't know who is behind them?"

Snick hurriedly lowered his head, retracting the clever look, sweating profusely.

"Little, little me wouldn't dare!"

Luo Yan faintly smiled, speaking calmly.

"Killing them would be easy, with their puny army compared to the unruly vassals in my Maze, they're merely flea leg hairs. If I wanted to do it cleanly, I would've acted during the Lord's meeting, at most declaring it as food poisoning. Do you think the Dragon family would stand up for them?"

Snick felt a chill in his heart, shivering involuntarily.

Recalling that he was also in the conference hall at the time, if Lord Demon King indeed had decided to kill, wouldn't he have been...

Seeing Snick trembling with fear, Luo Yan suddenly smiled warmly and continued.

"Now, now, just a hypothesis."

"Yes, yes..." Snick nodded fearfully, forcing a weak smile on his face, his eyes twirling quickly, he replied, "Lord Demon King, how wise... You intend for them to act and reveal those behind them?"

"Exactly."

Snick's mouth opened slightly, hesitated a moment then couldn't help testing, "But if... they are indeed plotting something dangerous?"

"Then let it happen."

Luo Yan shrugged lightly, his gaze calm enough to chill the spine.
