The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 253: Utter Madness! (Part 2)

"Reason?"

"For the order and stability of Hell."

Goliath's expression didn't change at all, and his tone was calm, just like discussing tomorrow's weather.

Looking into those alluring eyes, the Witch Demon, who had lived for a thousand years, continued slowly.

"If Sebes is judged by the Truth Department for betraying Hell, it would be as good as admitting the conspiracy behind Seldo Port. This would not only affect the morale at the front but also shake the belief of the middle and lower-ranked Demons, even affecting the stability of Hell..."

"That's simple."

Not wanting to hear his high-sounding reasons, Karamos chuckled lightly and interrupted him.

"Just say he was bought by the Human Empire and took refuge in the false god on the surface."

Goliath said expressionlessly.

"This accusation requires more serious evidence and would affect his reincarnation after death. Do you think he would accept that?"

Evidence...

Karamos didn't think much of it.

He wouldn't naively believe that this ancient guy, who had lived for a thousand years, would care whether a Gold Level Horror Demon would be a goblin or a Demon in the next life, let alone that underneath that meticulous mask lies a pure heart.

Evidence.

If that was useful, there wouldn't have been the subsequent "Black Wind Castle Plague" and "Goblin Uprising."

"Just be straightforward, you want to make a deal with him."

"This isn't a deal; it's for Lord Demon God. Compared to a traitor who betrayed the Demon God, being imprisoned for corruption is obviously more suitable as an explanation, no matter who it's for."

Goliath looked directly into Karamos's eyes and continued without showing any emotion.

"Of course, this does not change his crime, and the punishment to the Dragon family is the same. It's just that if we discuss this behind closed doors, there's no need for outsiders to laugh. And as an exchange, I can vote in favor of Mr. Feistin's proposal... approving Luo Yan's entry into Parliament."

Karamos knew this guy wasn't doing it for the Demon God, nor for Hell, and certainly not for the Dragon family or a small person named Sebes, but for the feathers on his own back.

Even though this matter couldn't be tied to him, Zachro still bore his "mark."

In fact, it makes no difference; only the charges change, the outcome is unchanged.

Looking at his long fingernails, Karamos casually said.

"If I refuse, would you vote against it?"

"I will abstain," Goliath said expressionlessly, "but if Sebes does not plead guilty, the investigation and evidence collection will be a long process, and this matter won't just end... Do you think this benefits you?"

Karamos smiled.

"That's true."

Though the internal struggles among Demons have never ceased, they have no disagreements on their belief in Lord Demon God... even if they secretly harbor ambitions to replace him.

This mindset seems contradictory, but it isn't.

After all, until a new Demon God is born, their power and Extraordinary Power are all based on the foundation of the old Demon God. Shaking the faith in Lord Demon God would mean destabilizing the foundation of their roles as servants of the Demon God, which brings them no benefits.

No one would want to blow up their old house before moving into a new one.

Moreover, the Melusine family's mouth still bites a piece of flesh taken from the Dragon family, digesting the acquired benefits takes time; a mishap would bring more loss than gain.

Understanding the wisdom of taking profit, then withdrawing.

As for the Dragon family...

It makes little difference whether there's one more or fewer charges; Zachro is doomed anyway.

Seeing Karamos step back, Goliath nodded slightly and continued speaking slowly.

"I will cast a vote in favor of Mr. Feistin's proposal."

Karamos smiled and said.

"Should I say thank you?"

Goliath said expressionlessly.

"Suit yourself."

The room fell silent for a moment.

The topic, originally somewhat relaxed, suddenly died because of an unfunny cold joke.

Karamos sighed gently in his heart.

That's why he disliked dealing with the dead; this moldy relic had not a single seed of humor in him, and was even less adapted to the current world than he was.

Examining the teacup in his hand, he traced the patterns on the handle with his finger and suddenly spoke casually.

"By the way, I'm curious... where exactly have you hidden Zachro? Our Intelligence Department couldn't catch even a whiff of wind, it's like he vanished into the Mortal World. Why not sneak and tell me, satisfy my curiosity, I promise not to tell anyone."

The air in the room froze for a moment.

Goliath looked at Karamos without expression, the ghostly green flame burning in his skull seething like an angry wave, as if it could devour the latter's soul.

Yet facing that mountainous pressure, there wasn't a trace of fear on Karamos's face, and the pupil still carried undisguised aggressiveness, examining the flickering Soul Fire as though peeling it apart layer by layer.

This eerie calmness lasted an unknown amount of time, until an indistinct crack crept along the glass window nearby, before the tension between the two suddenly eased, as if nothing had happened.
