Chapter 260: The Rebirth of Black Wind Castle (Part 2)
Improve their lives?
Even Demon City wouldn't do something so outrageous!
At least make the lives of the Hell Dwarves better first!
As the arguments between both sides grew increasingly intense, a few goblin underbosses quickly ran out to smooth things over.
"Hey, hey, hey! Everyone calm down! Calm down!" A chubby goblin nodded and bowed, smiling widely at the players, "Lord Demon King's servants are wise and powerful! You've thought this through so thoroughly, we little goblins are truly impressed! But... we're healthy enough, we really don't fall sick easily!"
Another goblin underboss also nodded repeatedly, smiling ingratiatingly, "Yeah, yeah, we goblins are tough! We've been living like this in Black Wind Castle for years, there's hardly any plague! How about... a compromise? Water pipe systems are necessary of course, it's much easier to fetch water that way, but as for purification devices... there's no need to waste resources, right?"
"Exactly, exactly!" A group of goblins immediately chimed in, looking as though "Lord Demon King's servants are the voice of reason," their eyes full of anticipation.
The skeleton players exchanged glances, their soul fire flickering in their eyes, for a moment not knowing what to say.
They originally thought that after arguing their case, explaining the interconnected theories of goblin labor health, labor loss, and industrial development clearly, they could finally make these natives of Black Wind Castle realize the importance of clean drinking water. But unexpectedly... the locals simply didn't care?
The fact that the Hell Dwarves didn't care wasn't surprising, after all, they couldn't be expected to share a common interest with goblins, but how come goblins didn't care either?!
"Aren't you afraid of getting sick?" A skeleton player couldn't help but ask.
"By the Demon God above, of course we're not afraid!" A goblin underboss patted his flat chest, laughing triumphantly, "We goblins aren't a delicate race, we love drinking salty water!"
"Yeah, yeah, we're living just fine, we don't get sick easily!" Another goblin underboss nodded repeatedly, a fawning smile on his face, "Besides, the previous plague was because someone poisoned the water, it had nothing to do with whether the water was clean or not!"
The skeleton players fell silent upon hearing this.
They initially thought these goblins were simply ignorant, completely unaware of the seriousness of sanitation issues, but now it seemed they actually understood perfectly well and were just relying on their racial talent to not be afraid.
"...Alright then." The leading skeleton player sighed, waving his hand casually, "We'll do it the way you say, install the water pipe system, purification devices... whatever, after all, you're the ones drinking it."
The players' interest in the matter quickly waned, mainly because just installing pipes wasn't very interesting and didn't fit their "Demon Crystal Punk aesthetic," creating something that's already reality is pointless.
But since even the goblins themselves didn't care, insisting would just be asking for trouble. The tasks from the Demon King indeed didn't include "bringing Black Wind Castle's sanitation standards up to modern levels," thinking this way, they managed to convince themselves.
Alright, let's just wing it then.
A few goblin underbosses watched, laughing, not surprised at all.
These "Lord Demon King's servants" clearly hadn't figured out the situation, the previous plague at Black Wind Castle was entirely because people from the Sawtooth Chamber of Commerce and the Dragon family poisoned the water source. If those bastards hadn't intentionally caused chaos, who would have fallen sick after just a couple of sips?
And now, Elder Zakeruo was dead, the Sawtooth Chamber of Commerce had been cleared out clean, who would dare try that trick in Black Wind Castle?
Of course, they weren't entirely selfless either.
After all, they themselves didn't drink goblin community water, the easier the equipment was to maintain, the easier it was for them to make money.
"Haha, the Lord Demon King's servants are indeed reasonable!" A goblin underboss grinned until his eyes squinted into slits, turning to wave at the goblins on the construction site, "Alright, alright, let's get to work, don't let the Lord Demon King's servants laugh at us!"
A group of goblins giggled and scattered, continuing to dig trenches and lay pipes, working busily and joyfully.
As for the skeleton players, they looked at this group of small but nimble natives, feeling a bit emotional—
This bunch really lives carefree...
...
The night fell, the light of the Magic Crystal Lamp Posts slowly extinguished, replaced by the slow illumination of coal lamps on both sides of the street.
After more than half a month of rest, although many buildings still carried the scars of repair, overall, they had regained their former vitality.
Vendors started hawking again, workers finished a day's labor, preparing to go to the tavern for a few drinks, and amidst this hustle and bustle, a group of skeleton players formed a circle, eagerly discussing their new "plans."
Luo Yan walked among players and NPCs, a satisfied smile on his face.
He was supposed to return here the day before yesterday, but Miss Mia's warm invitation couldn't be refused, insisting on holding a celebration party for his new position.
Luo Yan originally felt it wasn't appropriate to be so high-profile, but seeing Miss Mia so enthusiastically wanting to help him, even worrying he might have another falling out with the new Family Head of the Dragon family, she especially summoned Xino.
Dear Miss Mia didn't know, Xino Dragon was already one of his people, that previously somewhat dim-witted Tauren had somewhat opened his mind after the Gate of Chaos incident, becoming much more mature and steady than before.
