Chapter 266: Did the Pie Really Get Completed? (Part 4)
Watching the Lizardman army charging towards the beach, Lumier drew the Flintlock Gun from his waist and stood with the pirates, pointing shakily ahead.
Three hundred meters...
Two hundred meters!
One hundred meters—
It's now!
Seeing those distorted, menacing faces, he hesitated not the least as he pulled the trigger and shouted loudly.
"Fire!!"
"Bang—!"
Hot lead tore through the air, luckily hitting the foremost Lizardman Hunter!
The Lizardman's chest instantly burst open with a bloody hole, staggering and falling down, blood spraying onto the damp sand.
The other pirates followed closely, flintlock guns igniting gunpowder in unison, the sound of gunfire continuous and explosive!
The volleying bullets whistled in the air, striking down Lizardman Hunters charging like a tide one after another, causing the charging column to be abruptly torn open!
The beach was awash with blood, corpses strewn, momentarily halting the momentum of the Lizardman army, even frightening many bewildered Lizardman Hunters into fleeing to the sides, in utter chaos.
Seeing the Lizardman's formation in disarray, the pirates, whose morale had wavered, regained their fighting courage, and the actions of loading their weapons became nimble once more.
Watching the flames continually explode on the beach and his fallen kinsmen, Trakel's vertical pupils slightly shrank.
He had lived on this land for decades, yet it was his first time witnessing such strange weaponry!
His astonishment lasted only a moment.
Soon he realized, those fiery sticks, though formidable, certainly had their weaknesses!
They needed to be close enough to exert their power!
Not only that—
To fire those sticks again, a lengthy ritual was required, involving pouring powder sacrifices into them and using another slender rod for tamping.
Realizing this, he snorted coldly, then raised the spear in his hand high and called loudly to the Hunters on the frontline.
"Archers, release arrows!"
As the Lizardmen holding short bows drew and released arrows, a wave of arrows poured down like raindrops ahead!
Facing the sudden rain of arrows, dozens of pirates and Corpse Ghosts fell instantly, shifting the victory scales back towards the Lizardmen.
Trakel did not pause, swinging the spear in his hand once more towards the front while shouting loudly.
"Raiders, disperse! Hunt them down!"
A bronze hue enveloped the battlefield above, and the Lizardman Hunters, initially thrown into chaos by the gunfire, instantly calmed down, amber eyes glowing with a fiery crimson.
"Ahhhhhh!!"
Piercing cries emanated from their mouths, akin to a rampant ocean tide on the coast.
Lumier's expression slightly changed.
At this time, the Lizardman Hunters rapidly altered their tactics, dispersing their dense formation swiftly and closing the distance between the two sides with astonishing speed, then brandished spears and Bone Blades, engaging in close combat with the frontline Corpse Ghost troops!
"Roar—!"
The Corpse Ghost troops at the front let out a low roar, dragging wooden shields and swords into a solid clash with the Lizardman forces.
Though the Corpse Ghost's morale did not waver from the Lizardmen's intimidation, the difference in strength and physique between the two was not on the same level, with the former soon knocked aside by the latter.
The once-stable formation was thrown into disarray, and after firing his last shot, Lumier had to draw the War Blade from his waist, steeling himself for a melee with the Lizardmen who had closed in.
"Careful—!"
Seeing the Lizardman Warrior charging at Lumier with lightning speed, Ticky was suddenly alarmed, drawing his Scimitar to charge in, engaging the Lizardman Warrior in combat!
Within just a few breaths, both sides exchanged over a dozen rounds, swords drawing fleeting silhouettes in the air, fierce sparks bursting between man and beast!
Perhaps unwilling to prolong the fight, the Lizardman suddenly took a step forward, thrusting the Battle Blade at Ticky's face!
Facing the incoming cold gleam, Ticky swiftly withdrew the blade, dodging the Lizardman's thrust sideways and countering with a slash towards the opponent's neck.
This fatal blow should have cleaved off the Lizardman's head, yet at the instant he struck his target, a violent tremor crept towards his tiger's mouth, nearly causing his Scimitar to be jostled away!
The opportunity was fleeting!
The unsuccessful Lizardman leapt backwards to widen the distance, spraying mist with his breaths, his neck bearing only a shallow scar.
Seeing the intact Lizardman Warrior, Ticky was shocked, his eyes full of disbelief.
What sort of trick is this?!
As Ticky was confounded, Saku standing opposite him was equally taken aback.
What is with this two-legged monkey?
Through numerous hunts, he'd faced countless prey, yet it was his first time encountering such a troublesome opponent!
However—
This wasn't a bad thing for him.
His forked long tongue gently licked his scale-covered lips, Saku deadlocked his gaze on the prey before him, his unsure vertical pupils gradually tinted with a bloodthirsty glow.
A powerful prey was worth hunting!
Having realized his opponent's strength, not only did he not feel fear, but instead grew excited.
Watching that progressively distorted expression, Ticky felt a chill down his spine but dared not to let this fellow go unchecked, only assuming a dueling posture once more, twirling the Scimitar in his hand to make a sword flourish.
