Chapter 269: The Price of the Blessing (Part 3)
"Wait, what if this guy is a quest-related NPC?!"
"That would be perfect, the key NPC is my Corpse Ghost, hehehe..."
"Damn, what do you want to do?!"
"Quick! Hold him down!"
The Undead who were sharpening their knives one moment began arguing amongst themselves the next.
Sak watched the difficult-to-communicate bunch with a tense expression, fearing that one wrong word might provoke them and bring disaster upon himself.
As he was growing anxious, a woman clad in a black robe suddenly appeared in the shadows of the forest.
Her expression was stern, her eyes sharp, much like a leopard active in the jungle. A pair of cat ears stood atop her head, nearly blending with her long black hair.
Beastman?
Or... the legendary Demon?
Sak eyed her warily, vaguely sensing a powerful aura from her, one that was not inferior to the strong figures of the Wind Roar Tribe.
"Quiet."
A cold voice flowed from her mouth, carrying an irrefutable majesty that instantly silenced the bickering Undead and spiders.
Watching the Undead around him cease their actions, the narrowly escaping Sak finally breathed a sigh of relief and gratefully looked at the figure standing in the forest shadows.
"Thank you!"
Sarah glanced at him with indifferent eyes, her expressionless face showing no emotion, she slightly raised her chin.
"That lord is in a good mood today and has granted you an audience. But please watch your words and actions, otherwise, we cannot guarantee your safety."
"I will mind my words and actions... but, can I get up from the ground first?" Sak's gaze swept over the cobwebs on him, trying to convey his current predicament.
To his surprise, the moment his gaze swept over himself, the milky-white cobwebs snapped like encountering a blade.
Sak abruptly looked up, just in time to see the lady in the shadows retract a fleeting icy glint from her hand.
The cobwebs that had been entwined around him seemed to have been severed by the dagger in her hand!
Realizing this, Sak's heart was greatly shocked, and he looked at her with an increasingly incredulous glance.
So fast!
He completely failed to catch when she made her move!
With such skills, it must be that this lady holds an extraordinary position in this mysterious force. The reason she appeared here was probably to show off in front of him, a Wind Roar Tribe envoy...
Sak's mind raced, yet he didn't know that the Demon standing before him was merely a "pet" adopted by the Lord Demon King, and her reason for being here was only to carry out routine patrol tasks...
Wind Roar Tribe?
What is that?
Seeing that Sak seemed to misunderstand something, Sarah did not offer any explanation, simply tossing out a "Follow" before turning to walk towards the stronghold on the hill.
Looking at the surrounding Undead and spiders, Sak dared not hesitate or escape, swallowing hard and nervously following behind her.
There was no further exchange along the way; the cat-eared woman and Sak soon reached the stronghold entrance.
At the gate, the Corpse Ghost on guard merely glanced at Sarah, then silently retracted its weapon and stepped to the sides of the gate.
Sak nervously looked at the two lifeless Lizardman Corpse Ghosts, his heart pounding wildly beneath his scales.
He could recognize that the corpses seemed freshly dead, and judging by the coloration of the scales and shape of the skulls, they belonged to the arch-enemies of the Wind Lizard Clan—the Holy Armor Dragon Clan!
Seeing the corpses of his arch-enemies before him, Sak did not feel any schadenfreude; instead, a faint fear arose in his heart.
Unexpectedly, these guys from across the sea were so horrifying; being killed by them was not the end, as death seemed to be only the beginning of torment!
Is collaborating with them really okay?
Observing everything in the camp, Sak suddenly had an illusion of selling his soul to the Abyss Demons.
Unable to suppress the fear and anxiety within him, he opened his mouth with difficulty and spoke in a trembling whisper.
"Can you tell me... the identity of your master?"
Sarah did not hide anything but spoke with a voice full of reverence and pride.
"My lord is the Monarch of the Great Graveyard, the supreme Demon King... As for his name, you are not yet worthy to know."
Sak was momentarily stunned.
"Great Graveyard? Demon King?"
What is that?
Sarah did not answer his question, merely stating calmly.
"There is no need for you to know, you only need to remember one thing: in the presence of that lord, state your identity, state your purpose, and remain humble."
Isn't that three things?
Sak couldn't help but retort in his heart but dared not speak it aloud, only nodding hurriedly to indicate he remembered this advice.
Then he swiftly followed the lady's steps into the tent ahead, at that very moment, a solemn aura came over him.
In the center of the tent, there was a fire pit, the ghostly green flame burning quietly within, barely illuminating a handsome profile.
It was a Human.
At least, he appeared to be one.
At this moment, he stood in front of a vertically hung map, staring at the lines on the map with a thoughtful expression.
Seeing him, the cat-eared woman's eyes immediately softened, respectfully standing beside the entrance of the tent.
