The Magus In Marvel

Chapter 10: Visitors to Asgard

Chaos erupted the moment Jane Foster disappeared, only to reappear four hours later, stepping out of the abandoned building as if she had merely taken a short stroll. Darcy Lewis, wide-eyed and panicked, clutched her phone tightly, glancing between Jane and the approaching police officers.

"Jane! Where the hell were you?" Darcy demanded, rushing over.

Jane frowned, glancing around. "Tell me you didn't call the police!"

Darcy hesitated. "What was I supposed to do?"

"Not call the police!"

"I was freaking out!"

"You call the cops, they tell the feds, and the next thing you know, we have SHIELD crawling all over, Area Fifty-One-ing the place."

Before Darcy could argue, her eyes flicked toward two figures approaching—Tony Stark and a young girl, Rin, who had been observing from a distance. Jane and her team stiffened in surprise at their sudden arrival.

"Wait, hold on—why is Tony Stark here? And who's the kid?" Darcy asked, her voice laced with confusion.

Ian, Jane's intern, subtly adjusted his stance, his eyes flicking toward Stark with a guarded expression. If anyone had been paying closer attention, they might have caught the way his fingers momentarily hovered over his watch, as if expecting an alert. But with the chaos unfolding, no one noticed—except Rin, who glanced at him with knowing eyes but said nothing.

Tony clapped his hands together. "Well, this seemed like the perfect time for a surprise visit. Also, weird space anomalies? Totally my thing."

Rin sighed. "We were just passing through."

Jane eyed them warily but had no time to press further as she noticed something odd—the weather was shifting. As the rain began to pour, Jane held out her hand, watching as the droplets curved around her, forming an invisible barrier.

Darcy muttered, "That's weird."

Then, as if drawn by fate itself, Thor appeared a few feet away. Jane's breath hitched at the sight of him, and without thinking, she rushed forward, slapping him hard across the face.

"Sorry," Jane muttered. "I just needed to make sure you were real. It's been a very strange day."

Thor barely had time to respond before Jane slapped him again.

"Where were you?!" she demanded.

Tony leaned toward Rin. "I like her."

Rin smirked. "She has spirit."

As Thor attempted to explain his absence, Tony crossed his arms, whispering to Rin, "So, we just standing around watching this soap opera unfold, or do we step in?"

"Let it play out," Rin replied, glancing toward Ian, who was still subtly glancing between Tony and his surroundings. Her sharp eyes caught the slight tenseness in his posture—of course, she already knew he was a SHIELD agent, but something about his reaction felt off. Almost like he was waiting for something.

Meanwhile, as Jane confronted Thor about New York and his absence, Darcy interrupted their moment, pointing to the police officers closing in.

"Uh… I'm pretty sure we are getting arrested."

Jane turned in frustration. "Hold that thought."

As Jane tried to reason with the officers, one of them reached for her arm, only to be blasted back by a sudden burst of energy. The force sent everything around them scattering, and Jane collapsed to the ground, stunned.

Thor immediately rushed to her side. "Jane! Jane, are you alright?"

She blinked, dazed. "What just happened?"

The police, now on high alert, raised their weapons.

"Place your hands on your head, step back!" one of the officers ordered.

Thor's grip on Jane tightened. "The woman is unwell."

"She's dangerous!"

Tony sighed, stepping forward. "Alright, let's not go full-blown panic mode here—"

Before anyone could react, Thor pulled Jane closer and whispered, "Hold on to me."

Jane barely had time to respond before the Bifrost opened, engulfing them both in radiant energy. In an instant, they vanished from sight.

Darcy, still standing amidst the chaos, stared at the empty space where they had been. "Holy shit."

As the bystanders scrambled in confusion, Tony exhaled. "Well, that was dramatic."

Before he and Rin could formulate their next move, the air shimmered again, and a deep voice rumbled from above.

"Tony Stark. Rin Tohsaka. The Allfather wishes to see you."

Rin's eyes widened slightly as she turned toward Tony, who let out a resigned sigh. "Oh, great. Asgardian summons. Just what I needed."

With a blinding flash, the Bifrost activated once more, sweeping them away toward the golden realm of Asgard.

...................

Heimdall: "Welcome to Asgard."

As they stepped onto the golden bridge of Asgard, Jane, Thor, Tony, and Rin took in their surroundings, marveling at the breathtaking city that stretched out before them. The towering spires, shimmering waterfalls, and intricate golden structures were unlike anything they had seen before. Jane's eyes widened in wonder, while Rin observed with a calculating gaze, silently comparing it to myths and legends. Tony, however, couldn't resist making commentary.

"So, interdimensional architecture, rainbow road teleportation, and floating palaces? Gotta say, you guys know how to make an entrance," Tony quipped, hands in his pockets. "Though, if I had to guess, there's some kind of atmospheric field stabilizing all of this. Otherwise, the whole city would be a structural nightmare."

Rin sighed, folding her arms. "Can you stop trying to explain magic? Just accept it."

"Nah, magic's just science we don't understand yet," Tony shot back.

Thor merely chuckled, leading them toward the palace. "Perhaps you would enjoy speaking with our scholars, Stark."

"Oh, don't tempt me, Point Break," Tony smirked. "I might just start a tech revolution here."

Jane, though intrigued, was quickly reminded of her condition as a wave of nausea hit her, causing her to stumble slightly. Thor immediately steadied her. Concern overtaking his amusement, he quickened his pace, leading them into the medical bay where Asgardian healers were already waiting.

Jane barely had time to register the transition before unfamiliar hands began scanning her, the foreign technology humming around her. The grandeur of Asgard was momentarily forgotten as discomfort set in.

Jane Foster: "What's that?"

Eir: "Be still."

Thor watched with concern. "This is not of Earth. What is it?"

Asgardian Nurse: "We do not know, but she will not survive the amount of energy surging within her."

Jane squinted at one of the devices. "That's a quantum field generator, isn't it?"

Eir: "It's a Soul Forge."

Jane: "Does a Soul Forge transfer molecular energy from one place to another?"

Eir, momentarily impressed, nodded. "Yes."

Jane glanced at Thor. "It's a quantum field generator."

Before Thor could respond, Odin entered, his presence silencing the room. Tony raised an eyebrow, whispering to Rin, "He's got the whole 'angry father-in-law' look down. Also, Soul Forge? Really? I've built three of those."

Odin: "My words are mere noises to you that you ignore them completely?"

Thor: "She's ill."

Odin: "She is mortal. Illness is their defining trait."

Thor: "I brought her here because we can help her."

Odin: "She does not belong here in Asgard any more than a goat belongs at a banquet table."

Jane sat up, looking offended. "Did he just…?"

Tony smirked. "Yeah, I heard that too. Not exactly a five-star welcome."

Odin: "I know very well who you are, Jane Foster."

Jane turned to Thor. "You told your Dad about me?"

Thor: "Something is within her, Father. Something I have not seen before."

A surge of energy crackled around Jane again, sending guards stumbling back. Rin frowned. "Yeah, that's not normal."

Odin's gaze darkened. "The Aether. That's impossible."

Thor: "Don't touch her!"

Odin: "Come with me."

As they followed him, Odin recounted the dark history of the Aether. Tony, arms crossed, muttered to Rin, "So, basically, old magic space goo that turns everything evil. Got it."

..............

Meanwhile, across the realms, Malekith knelt in the barren wastelands of Svartalfheim, grasping a handful of dust.

Malekith: "Look at my legacy, Algrim. The Asgardians will suffer as we have suffered. I will reclaim the Aether. I will restore our world, and I'll put an end to this poisonous light."
