Chapter 1
"What is this...?!"
When Belver opened his eyes from sleep, he was met with a completely unfamiliar scene.
The brilliant lighting, glittering decorations, and luxurious furniture—every single thing was something he had never seen before.
Only the fact that he hadn't returned to Earth calmed Belver's mind.
He didn't want to go back there again.
He should enjoy this new life he'd been given.
Belver carefully rose from his position.
The weight and height were different from the body he'd lived in for the past week.
The hair that brushed past his neck and back over the thin nightgown, the delicate hands—these belonged to a woman, not to Belver.
"Where's a mirror...?"
Belver first confirmed that this was inside the Academy dormitory.
Based on the room's style, this clearly wasn't Earth.
Then, the most likely possibility was that he possessed another character's body instead of Belver.
Most characters were at the Academy, after all.
Finding a mirror on one side of the room, Belver approached it with his now-awkward gait.
Then he examined the face of the woman whose body he now inhabited.
He thought the face might be familiar, and he needed to see it anyway.
And that possibility became reality.
"What is this!!!!"
Seeing his current face, Belver couldn't help but scream with all his might.
Because the face he had seen earlier was now reflected in the mirror.
Moreover, it was the face of a woman who would never scream like this.
"Why did I become Bellatrix...? Isn't this too random?!"
He had hoped to at least be one of the heroines or main characters.
They were all good people who were strong enough to protect at least their own bodies.
He thought that even if they switched into Belver's body, they could calmly discuss not knowing what happened.
But not Bellatrix.
If she found out that Belver, whom she had called a commoner, was in her body, she would immediately tear his soul apart and kill him.
For her, that would be the natural course of action.
"No... This is just a bad ending..."
Belver collapsed on the spot.
In Bellatrix's body, he couldn't see any future where he could safely get through today.
Nothing helpful could be found in the setting guide or the original novel's game knowledge.
Even if he ran away, he could only see futures where he would be caught.
Knock knock knock
"Young lady. May I come in? We heard a loud noise—are you alright?"
Belver's mind snapped to attention at the voice from outside the door.
Pulling his mind back from where it had sunk into the dark depths, he answered.
Fortunately, having memorized the setting guide, Belver knew a lot about Bellatrix.
Until Bellatrix arrives, he would live by imitating her.
"It's nothing. Don't disturb me."
First of all, Bellatrix's way of speaking differed between those within her inner circle and those outside it.
To those outside her circle, she was cold and imperious.
Her tone carried the feeling that she had absolutely no interest in them and that they should disappear immediately.
In contrast, she was quite gentle and casual to those within her circle.
However, this wasn't because she saw them as equals, but because she considered them her subordinates who needed her care.
That's why even though it was friendly informal speech, listeners said they felt pressure from it.
As Belver, he didn't understand what that meant, so he just imitated the tone.
He knew what a gentle yet pressure-inducing voice sounded like, but he also knew that it wouldn't suit Bellatrix's manner of speaking.
So to others' ears, it came out as an incredibly gentle voice.
Enough to make the maid outside the door unconsciously freeze.
"Ah, yes!"
It's understandable since this was probably the first time she'd heard Bellatrix speak so kindly.
Fortunately, like a professional, she quickly regained her composure.
Though feeling doubtful, she followed the order strictly.
If told not to disturb, then she shouldn't disturb.
It wasn't the first time as a maid that she'd seen Bellatrix using magic in her room.
"Phew... Thank goodness."
Having successfully sent the maid away, Belver got up and sat on the edge of the bed.
This small body's feet couldn't reach the floor while sitting on the slightly elevated bed.
They had reached when he was Belver.
This subtle and minor difference made him realize this was reality.
Having already experienced possession as Belver once, he didn't need to question the possession itself.
Now was the stage where he needed to think about what to do next.
Sooner or later, meeting Bellatrix would naturally happen.
What could Belver do in the meantime?
"Nothing...?"
What could Belver, who couldn't even use magic yet, possibly do?
He could probably go for a walk.
But what if he met someone who knew Bellatrix while out?
He couldn't think of any way to handle that.
Belver slumped down at the realization that he would have to stay still until the grim reaper named Bellatrix came to take his life.
If he had known this would happen, he would have tried various things with Belver's body.
He hadn't tried magic even once despite having incredibly high expectations about learning and using it at the Academy.
Even though it was a body with the greatest talent for everything in this world.
"If I'm in Bellatrix's body, couldn't I use magic...?"
This thought suddenly occurred to him.
The reason Belver hadn't used magic in his original body was to prevent possible accidents.
There was a risk of dying if he accidentally caused a surge while circulating magical power through circuits that had never experienced it before.
Then, what about Bellatrix's body, where the circuits were already developed, and magical power flowed naturally?
Couldn't he use magic or something that he knew thoroughly in theory?
As soon as Belver thought of it, he put it into action.
Since he was going to die by Bellatrix's hand anyway, wouldn't it be good to try magic at least once?
"First, it was 'feel something flowing along your blood vessels that isn't blood,' wasn't it?"
Though he didn't understand what that meant, Belver recalled the most similar feeling he had experienced.
Then, he felt something flowing along his blood vessels without anything being inserted.
This must be magical power.
"Next is changing the form of the magical power you feel as you wish. Strongly imagine and command the magical power."
The magical power obediently moved according to Belver's will.
Then what magic should he try first?
The standard fire magic? Water? Wind?
As numerous attributes flashed through his mind, a small orb of light floated above his palm.
It was magic that could be used safely without any risk of accidents in the room.
It simply ended with creating an elemental orb that emitted light.
"Light."
Belver was so happy with his first cast magic that he rolled it around.
Though there was clearly no physical sensation on his palm, it was a strange feeling where some kind of touch was definitely felt.
"Why is it doing this...?"
Belver was startled when the light orb he had been playing with suddenly started getting brighter.
He hadn't heard of cases like this.
Without growing in size or generating heat, it just kept getting brighter.
As if it was about to burst.
"Ah...!"
Belver realized and immediately squeezed his eyes shut.
Right after, the light orb disappeared with an incredible flash of light.
It was so bright that the light burst out through the window where the sun was setting.
The fortunate thing was that Belver had quickly closed his eyes and avoided being blinded.
If his judgment had been even a little slower, he might have met Bellatrix while blind.
"Phew... I'm glad I didn't try it before."
Belver judged that it was good he hadn't used magic with his original body.
If this happened with well-trained circuits, an even bigger incident might have occurred with completely undeveloped ones.
Knock knock knock
"Young lady...?"
"Didn't I tell you not to disturb me?"
The maid who had been sent away with instructions not to disturb had approached the door again.
What could it be for?
He just hoped she wouldn't come into the room.
A maid who knew Bellatrix wouldn't disobey orders for nothing.
It must be something important.
Belver prayed it would be something he could handle.
"I remember, but a guest has arrived... Please forgive me..."
"Who...?"
Startled by the mention of a guest, his original manner of speaking accidentally came out.
Could Bellatrix have found him already?
Belver thought she should at least wander around for a few hours, confused by experiencing a male body for the first time.
Belver prayed it wouldn't be Bellatrix.
He didn't want to die yet.
"It's a male student. He seems to be a new student like you, young lady. He says you had an appointment—is that correct...?"
"Yes. Let him in."
"Yes. Understood."
It's Bellatrix.
It must be Bellatrix.
It couldn't be anyone but Bellatrix.
Though despairing, Belver sat straight in the chair and waited for Bellatrix.
Inwardly praying to safely make it through tonight.
Soon after, the door opened, and the man he had grown attached to over the past week entered the room.
The first words of the man who opened the door and entered were:
"Why does it seem to suit you better?"
"What...?"
Belver didn't know how to respond.
He could only hurriedly cover his body with both arms under Bellatrix's gaze, which seemed to be examining every inch of him as if it were natural.
Not understanding why she said it seemed to suit him better.
