Chapter 7: Chapter 7 : Harley Montgomery

"Miss…miss are you okay?" The stranger asked, looking at Marietta with an emotionless gaze.

Marietta looked at him with shock in her eyes and whispered to herself, "Was I daydreaming? I can't believe I was daydreaming."

The unknown man looked at her suspiciously before asking, "Is your leg okay?"

"My, my leg?" Marietta asked, snapping her eyes away from him and looking at her wet leg.

"Oh, it's okay, I'm fine," she said, scratching her head and smiling shyly.

"That's good."

The unknown man stood up and looked at her with a lazy eye. "My name is Harley Montgomery, I'll pay for the damage I did to your Snickers."

"My snickers, what happened to my shoe?" she asked and looked at her foot to see her shoe already drenched in coffee.

"You don't need to worry yourself, it's okay, I have another pair of new sneakers," Marietta said, searching through her bag and suddenly remembered that she left it at home.

"You know what, I'll just go buy a new pair in a nearby mall…in an hour or two."

Harley dipped both his hands in his jeans pocket, stared at her, and said nothing.

Marietta felt a bit uncomfortable but secretly liked the fact that he was staring at her and now somewhere else.

" Why are you not saying anything and staring at me?"

"You're quite wired. Why do you keep smiling at me?" Harley asked in a whisper.

"What?"

"Never mind. Give me your phone." Harley asked and stretched out his right hand. Marietta took out her phone from her skirt pocket and handed it over to him. He says to do opposite her and starts typing something into it.

She asked him why he asked for her phone but he said not and kept typing, brought out his and it rang before cutting the call.

Three minutes later, she gave her back her phone. "Don't you think you should have a password on it?"

"Why? I don't see anything wrong with it."

"Whatever, it's your phone. That's my number, save it however you like and this is my card, just in case of an emergency." he stood up, took the empty glass cup, and walked to her side, "I'm in a bit of a rush. Text me the total amount of the new pair of sneakers your stress, and your account details, and I'll wire the money back to you when I give you the chance. I don't like feeling in debt." Harley said and started walking away.

Marietta stared at space for a minute before snapping herself out of her daze.

It suddenly occurred to her that she hadn't told him her name. She stood up and ran towards him before he stepped out of the office shop.

"Marietta, my band is Marietta. I forgot to mention it earlier."

Harley repeated the name twice before nodding his head and leaving the shop.

"What a total jerk!" Sylvie yelled through the phone.

"Oh come on, I don't think he is that big of a jerk," Marietta said, stepping into her house and shutting the four behind her. She walked over to the living room, dropped her bag on the sofa, and fell beside it.

"It is, he used the phrase 'I am rich and can do whatever I want and you're nothing compared to me,' it's so fucking annoying and I mostly hate men like that," Sylvie yelled into the phone again.

Marietta removed the phone from her ear, put the call on speaker, and placed it on the table In front of her. She spaced out thinking about Harley, forgetting she was on a call with Sylvie.

"Hello…hello, Marietta are you still there, Marietta?"

"Yeah, yeah I'm still here."

"Were you spacing out, don't tell me you were thinking about that jerk?"

"Hmm, what jerk?"

"The jerk we were talking about five minutes ago, hello."

"Oh that jerk, I wasn't thinking about him. You know what, I'm a bit tired why don't we continue this conversation another time shall we?" Marietta asked, immediately hanging up the call.

"I'm so tired, I've been walking around Star City for the past six hours, looking for something to make my life most meaningful and I came across an arrogant jerk, hm, how lovely. That reminds me, j still have to text him the price of the new pair of Snickers, and my stress, I cannot forget that."

Marietta searched through her contact section looking for his number but suddenly remembered she hadn't saved it. She took out the card Harley gave her and saved the number on her phone.

"cone to think of it, that name sounds familiar," she said trying to remember where she had heard it from.

"I have heard that name before, but why can't I remember?"

After mentioning the name several times, Marietta gave up on trying to know where she had heard it from.

She looked at her phone and opened the text app: "Hi, it's Marietta. This is the total price of everything and my account details."

After reading it five times and making sure there weren't any errors, she sent it, dropped and slept off on the sofa.

Somewhere in Star City, an orange-haired man is seen talking to someone had green hair, in an office.

"Are you sure she's the one?" the green-haired man asked.

"I'm sure she is the one Zack. I saw her walking down the street and staring at buildings, but I wasn't too sure so I followed her into a coffee shop, bumped into her, and had a few chats with her, I instantly knew she was the one." The orange-haired guy who turned out to be Harley said.

"You had a chat with her, how was it like? I mean was her voice nice and all that?"

"She's a girl, of course, her voice would be nice."

"That doesn't count dude, I've seen and encountered girls whose voices are thicker than their faces or ass and boobs. There was this one time I was at a bar and saw this blond beauty across, sitting and alone, so I thought as a handsome and rich guy like me, I'd have a little chat with her. She didn't want to talk and just kept smiling at me; so I thought 'Maybe she can't talk' and started using my hands to show signs. She looked at me and started to laugh, at first, I thought I was hearing things or the music at the bar was too loud until I heard her speak. I stared at her in shock and used excuses to run away. It was a really bad first experience for me." Zack said with crocodile tears.

Harley was already rolling on the floor, laughing like that was the only thing he knew how to do.

"Dude it's not funny, I nearly died that night."

Harley just kept laughing and rolling on the floor until he heard a ding and vibration from his pocket. He sat up and brought out his phone, only to see a message from Marietta.

He read it, sent her the money, and replied with; "sent." he stood up and went to sit beside Zack, staring at his phone, his face as cold as ice, as if he wasn't the one laughing like a lunatic two minutes ago.

" Dude, what's wrong?"

Harley didn't say anything but just kept staring at his phone and suddenly smirked. "Hm, I don't know she would text me this fast, well I guess she's a bit shameless."

"Who is?" Zack asked before looking down at Harley's phone and saw the name of the contract and wooden his eyes before looking at him with his left eyebrow up and the other down "Are you serious, like dude are you kidding me, how the fuck do you think this is being shameless?"

"Why, what's wrong with me thinking she's being shameless?"

"You know what, I give up on your case."

Marietta woke up by the ding that was coming from her phone, she robbed her eyes and looked at her phone. She clicked on the two messages that were entered. One was from her bank, notifying her that it was just credited and the other was from Harley with a simple straightforward message.

She looked at the letters in her phone for a while, not knowing what to type next but she knew it wasn't proper but she wanted to hang out with him more so she summoned the courage to ask him if he would like to go out on a friendly date with her the next day.

She sent it to him and waited for his reply. She waited for five minutes and thought maybe she shouldn't have sent it. She thought of deleting the message, but he had already seen it; not knowing what to do, she dropped her phone on the table and went to the kitchen to make dinner for herself.

She didn't hear when her phone dinged because she was gaming to really loud music and singing along.
