Chapter 186: Chapter 186
The massive dragon's head soared over Ali, its enormous maw gaping open as it dived straight down, seemingly intent on shattering the stone tiles beneath.
But to Ali's shock, the beast did not collide with the ground. Instead, the dragon head vanished into a swirling vortex of deep purple energy, as if the earth had momentarily transformed into a portal.
'Teleportation?' Ali thought, his gaze shifting from the ground to the knight standing just ahead.
The warrior, clad in gleaming gold armour, frantically scanned his surroundings, trying to determine where the colossal dragon head had disappeared to.
Then—
BITE
In an instant, the dragon's monstrous form re-emerged from below, erupting from the stone like a force of nature.
It lunged upward with terrifying speed, its gaping maw clamping down over the knight's body. The sheer force of the attack sent dust and shards of stone flying through the air, obscuring Ali's vision for a brief moment.
The dragon twisted its serpentine neck mid-air, its massive head contorting unnaturally as it ascended, but something was amiss-Ali could see that the beast hadn't fully locked its jaws.
Then came the piercing cry.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
The knight's anguished scream echoed across the battlefield. As the dust settled, Ali's eyes sharpened at the sight-through sheer strength alone, the knight had pried apart the dragon's deadly jaws.
His arms, glowing with an ethereal golden radiance, strained against the dragon's enormous teeth, preventing them from crushing him completely.
The dragon, undeterred by the knight's resistance, suddenly jerked its head downward and plunged back into the ground, dragging the knight with it.
CRASH!
The impact shattered the stone tiles beneath them, sending shockwaves rippling outward. But as before, the dragon's body passed effortlessly through the earth, disappearing into the void below and leaving the knight battered yet miraculously alive.
Before the warrior could recover, the ground behind him split apart.
WHOOSH!
The dragon's head surged forth once more, this time from behind, its monstrous jaws snapping shut around the knight's body. The knight gritted his teeth as he felt the beast's fangs pierce through the thick metal of his armour.
"UGH!"
A guttural groan escaped him as one particularly sharp fang tore through his leg, slicing into flesh with sickening ease.
He struggled desperately, his hands still glowing with divine energy, pushing against the dragon's teeth to keep them from completely crushing him.
And then—
The dragon turned.
With an eerie, otherworldly grace, the beast twisted its head toward Ali, its piercing, glowing eyes locking onto him. The knight, still caught within its maw, felt the motion shift, the wind rushing past him as the beast surged forward.
Ali remained motionless, his gaze fixed on the approaching behemoth.
As the dragon neared, something changed.
The golden glow of the knight's hands intensified, burning brighter and brighter.
Sparks of energy crackled along his gauntlets as he prepared to unleash a devastating shockwave from within the dragon's mouth, an attack powerful enough to force the beast to release him.
But then—
The knight's expression twisted in confusion. His hands, which had been braced against the dragon's teeth, suddenly met empty space.
The dragon's teeth... were gone.
The many rows of razor-sharp fangs had vanished entirely from it's mouth, leaving its gaping maw disturbingly barren.
For a single, dreadful second, the knight was left hovering in free-fall…
Then—
SCHLK!
A grotesque, sickening noise rang out as countless new teeth exploded from the dragon's gums, each one far larger and more vicious than before.
Jagged, glistening teeth impaled the knight from all angles, puncturing his limbs, torso, and armour in a single, brutal instant.
STAB. STAB. STAB. STAB. STAB. STAB. STAB.
Ali stood frozen as the dragon landed before him, its monstrous maw now filled with impossibly long, sword-like teeth-each one buried deep into the knight's body.
Blood dripped in thick rivulets from the puncture wounds, pooling beneath the warrior as his body hung limp within the dragon's grip.
Then came the growl.
"GRRO000000WWWWWLLLLL….."
A deep, guttural sound rumbled from the dragon's throat as it exhaled a hot, fetid breath in Ali's direction.
Ali recoiled. 'That's disgusting...'
His expression twisted in revulsion as the foul stench assaulted his senses, the sheer intensity of it enough to make his stomach churn.
Then the dragon began to chew.
CRUNCH. CRUNCH. SPLASH. SPLURT.
The sickening sounds of bone snapping, flesh tearing, and blood splattering filled the air as the dragon ground the knight's body between its monstrous fangs.
Bits of gore sprayed outward, some landing dangerously close to Ali's feet. The scene was nothing short of gruesome-a deliberate display of carnage, as if the dragon wanted Ali to witness every horrific detail.
And then—SWALLOW.
The dragon tilted its head back slightly, sending what remained of the knight sliding down its gullet. A deep, guttural gulp echoed in the air as the warrior's body disappeared into the dragon's nonexistent stomach.
The massive head then slumped forward, resting upon the stone tiles just in front of Ali. Its long, slithering tongue flicked out lazily wiping away the blood that still clung to its teeth and snout.
Ali, unshaken, reached out and placed his hand on the dragon's snout.
"Good boy..." he muttered, patting the rough, jagged scales. He could feel the ridges and deep scars along the beast's skin, but he didn't care.
'It doesn't communicate...' Ali thought, attempting to reach out through their bond.
It's like trying to speak to a mindless beast... just a dog following orders.
Then—SPLIT.
A grotesque, wet tearing sound made Ali's eyes snap open in alarm.
A deep, monstrous voice-one that sent rumblings directly into his mind.
"Get your hand off me, boy."
Ali's breath caught.
His gaze locked onto the dragon's head, but something was different. At the centre of its forehead, nestled between its natural eyes, a third eye had appeared.
It was massive.
A single, slit black iris surrounded by an eerie, pulsating purple glow-the exact same eye as the ancient black dragon from the Dragon Hall.
Ali scowled.
"Stop fucking doing that," he growled, stepping back, his voice cold and sharp. "Fix your fucking voice. Every time you talk, I feel like my head is splitting in two. If you don't, l'd rather never summon you again."
The dragon chuckled-a sound that felt like an earthquake.
"Now, now, let's not do that... Ali..."
The voice was still deep and thunderous, but the migraine-inducing effect was gone.
Ali narrowed his eyes. "You know my name, dragon?"
"Of course. Do you think I wouldn't know the name of the human I formed a contract with? It still feels strange to say... Me... a powerful dragon, forming a contract with a pathetic human like you."
Ali scoffed. "Yeah, well, it wasn't exactly my choice to be bound to a talking lizard, but here we are."
The dragon let out a booming laugh.
"HAHAHAHAHA!"
The very air trembled at the sound.
"| shall gloat to the others that you summoned me first. Keep doing so, Ali, for I am the strongest—Bahamut, the Dragon of Darkness."
"What do you mean I summoned you?" Ali questioned, his tone calm. "I thought I was only summoning smaller dragons for now. And why the hell did I end up with a dragon head that can't talk?"
Bahamut's massive eye glowed ominously, the swirling purple energy within it shifting like a living storm.
"You did not summon a dragon, human."
The head slithered slightly, its enormous form shifting around Ali in an eerie, unnatural way, as if it wasn't entirely bound by the rules of reality.
"You merely borrowed my power."
Bahamut continued, his deep voice reverberating through Ali's skull.
"Some of us do not have offspring for you to summon, so instead... you draw from our power directly. What you saw today was merely a fraction of my strength that you borrowed."
The dragon's eye passed by Ali, and for a brief moment, he felt an unsettling hunger radiating from the beast-an insatiable, endless craving.
Ali looked straight into the eye…'He wants to eat me.'
Then—
"Of course..." Bahamut's voice rumbled, breaking the silence. "The more you offer, the more we give."
"I believe it's time for you to leave, human."
Ali's fingers twitched. He felt it before he saw it-his hands began to glow faintly with a soft, blue light.
Bahamut's eye darkened slightly. "Make sure to close the gate before you leave."
His voice, though still amused, carried a weight of warning.
Ali exhaled sharply, then closed his eyes, reaching out to the Dragon gate and willing it to close completely.
When he opened his eyes, the dragon head was gone.
