The Multiverse Hunter

Chapter 221: Chapter 221

"Is that so?" Evelyn stopped in her tracks, turning her head slightly to glance at Ali.

A knowing smile played on her lips, her dark eyes gleaming with intrigue as she observed the man before her. The dim light in the apartment flickered against her features, casting shadows across her flawless, pale skin.

Long, raven-black hair cascaded down her back, contrasting sharply with the sleek black coat draped over her slender yet commanding frame. Even in the midst of decay and blood, Evelyn carried herself with an aura of untouchable grace—dangerous and ethereal, like a siren who lured men to their deaths with nothing but a whisper.

Ali, however, was not so easily swayed.

"No one's ever survived me," he said, his voice calm but heavy with certainty. He stepped past her, moving toward the window, lifting the curtain with two fingers to peer outside. His instincts were restless, warning him of something approaching. "You think you'll be the first?"

Evelyn chuckled softly, the sound as smooth as silk yet laced with something far more sinister. "What a coincidence for us to meet in the same world," she mused, lowering herself into a crouch beside the lifeless witch. Her manicured fingers reached toward the old woman's forehead, her delicate hand exuding an unnatural energy.

Ali watched in silence as something began to glow in the centre of her palm—a small, pulsating black skull, swirling with an eerie luminescence. Almost instantly, the corpse beneath her touch began to decay, black tendrils of liquid rising from the dead flesh, twisting unnaturally before being drawn directly into Evelyn's hand.

Ali narrowed his eyes.

"What the hell was that?"

Evelyn stood slowly, dusting off her coat as if she hadn't just erased a body from existence. "Not a secret, really," she admitted, stretching her fingers as if relishing the power coursing through her veins. "I devoured the corpse. A blessing from the God of Death himself, bestowed upon his chosen children. I just happen to be one of them."

Ali's gaze darkened. "And what exactly do you get from this ability?"

Evelyn smiled again, a knowing glint in her eye.

"With enough high-quality corpses? Attribute points."

Ali's fingers curled slightly, his mind processing the implications.

'That's ridiculously overpowered. Their strength has no ceiling—limitless in concept. If they simply keep killing, they grow stronger without relying on missions or external rewards. As long as they become the harbingers of death in every world their sent to, they could grow in power a lot…'

A dangerous ability indeed.

Evelyn stepped closer, her sharp heels clicking against the wooden floor. "So, how about it?" she asked, her voice dropping to a sultry whisper. "Join me in the Death Guild. Together…"

She raised a delicate hand to touch his chest, her fingers barely grazing the fabric of his clothes. "Me and you, side by side, we could—"

She suddenly stopped mid-sentence.

Black flames ignited in her palms, crackling with malicious energy.

"It seems we have a visitor," she murmured, turning her head slightly to look past Ali, out the window.

Ali didn't move for a moment, then exhaled through his nose. "You should go."

Evelyn nodded once before dissolving into a swirl of black smoke, her form shifting and condensing until only a sleek black feline remained where she once stood. The cat's yellow eyes flickered up at Ali for a brief moment before it leaped onto the windowsill and disappeared into the night.

'Beast contract, that must have cost her a fortune if she bought it', Ali exhaled.

Then, slowly, he stepped backward, his black eyes locked onto the window, his instincts screaming at him now. A cold, unsettling sensation spread through his bones, a telltale sign of an incoming threat.

His fingers tightened around the hilt of his lightsaber.

Silence.

A single second passed.

Then—

BOOOOOOOOOM!

The apartment exploded.

A massive, hulking figure smashed through the outer wall like a living battering ram, sending debris and shattered concrete flying in every direction. The sheer force of the impact sent shockwaves through the floor, knocking over furniture and collapsing the walls as the monstrous entity barreled straight for Ali.

There was no time to dodge.

Ali barely had time to brace himself before the enormous creature crashed into him with the force of a speeding train. The impact sent him hurtling backward, his body slamming through walls—one, two, three—before finally bursting through the final layer of brick and plummeting into the open air.

For a brief moment, as he descended through the darkness, Ali was able to get a good look at his attacker.

It was a grotesque, towering figure, standing nearly eight feet tall, its inky black skin shifting like liquid yet solidifying into thick, pulsating muscle. Its grotesquely elongated mouth stretched unnaturally wide, rows upon rows of razor-sharp teeth gleaming under the moonlight. A long, wet tongue slithered out between its lips, dripping with thick saliva. White, featureless eyes stared hungrily at Ali as the creature spoke in a guttural, monstrous tone.

"You killed Spider-Man."

Ali's mind clicked.

'Venom'

The monstrous symbiote's voice dripped with rage as they plummeted toward the ground. "He was mine to eat! But you took him!" The beast's massive jaw unhinged, preparing to clamp down over Ali's skull. "So I'll eat you instead!"

Ali's hand twitched.

"Golden Circle"

A sudden explosion of golden energy erupted around him.

A shockwave of pure force blasted outward, slamming into Venom with crushing power. The monster let out a furious snarl as it was sent hurtling through the night sky, smashing into a nearby building with enough force to shatter windows and send chunks of concrete raining to the street below.

But Venom wasn't done.

The symbiotic twisted midair, regaining its balance before its massive claws dug into the side of the building, halting its momentum. The monster snarled and looked around for Ali only to find that it was pushed so far as to be in a completely different street.

Ali didn't wait.

He flew over Venom, closing the distance in the blink of an eye. His black-veined right hand cocked back, gathering power.

PUNCH.

Ali;a right hand smashed directly into the top of Venom who was still gathering himself…

The force of the blow sent a sonic boom echoing through the streets.

Venom was sent crashing downward, landing directly onto the hood of a parked car. The vehicle crumpled under the sheer impact, glass and metal exploding outward in all directions.

Ali wasn't finished.

He dove, aiming his knee for Venom's gut.

BOOOOOOM!

The impact caved the ground beneath them, sending shockwaves rippling outward. Venom roared, writhing in pain, but countered instantly, his arm morphing into a giant blade and swinging it straight at Ali.

Ali jumped back just in time. He still held his lightsaber handle, but he had yet to activate it.

Venom grinned as he pushed himself to his feet, his massive form unfazed.

Ali narrowed his eyes.

'Physical damage means nothing to him. He can morph, regenerate, and tank ridiculous amounts of force. But let's see how he survives a lightsaber.'

Venom's twisted grin widened.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"

His arms morphed into massive tendrils, snaking around the wreckage. Nearby cars lifted into the air, held in his monstrous grasp before being launched straight at Ali like missiles.

Evelyn sat perched on a nearby rooftop, legs dangling over the edge, watching the fight unfold below. The flickering glow of the streetlights danced across her flawless features, her dark lips curling into an amused smirk.

The black flames around her fingers crackled softly, eager, hungry.

She tapped a slender finger against her chin, tilting her head.

"Should I kill him?" she murmured to herself, watching Venom with mild curiosity.

Her golden eyes gleamed as she considered it.

Or should she let Ali play with his new toy first?
