Chapter 375 - 311, Tamed Beast_2
Chapter 375: Chapter 311, Tamed Beast_2
“Of course, Deputy Steward.” The staff proceeded to register.
Wu Heng tucked away his robe and walked towards the office.
…
Just as he reached the doorway,
He saw Olin and Andre Willow standing in front talking about something.
“What’s going on?” Wu Heng walked over.
“Deputy Steward.” Olin gave a slight bow in the manner of his people.
Andre Willow explained, “Captain Olin wants to give me a tamed beast.”
Hearing Andre Willow’s explanation, Wu Heng took another look at the dwarf opposite him.
In the arms of the dwarf was a palm-sized white owl with fluffy feathers.
It didn’t appear to be fully grown yet, staring with round curious eyes at everyone present.
Olin explained, “Here’s the thing, we obtained a tamed beast during a task, and thinking that Miss ‘Andre Willow’ didn’t have a tamed beast, we just brought it straight to her.”
Andre Willow’s profession was a Forest Ranger, which is a branch within the Rangers.
“Wei’er, can you handle taming a beast?” Wu Heng asked.
Andre Willow looked up and said, “I can!”
“Then keep it, accept Captain Olin’s kind gesture.” Wu Heng said directly.
The dwarf immediately smiled and said, “See, the Deputy Steward himself said so. Miss Wei’er, don’t be too shy to accept. It’s truly something we gained from a mission, and if you didn’t take it, I’d have to sell it to a shop for just a few coins.”
Dwarves are known for being straightforward, almost giving off the feeling that if you don’t want it, they’d just toss it away.
“Then, thank you, Captain Olin.” Andre Willow took the small owl from him, hugging it gently and softly stroking its feathers.
Wu Heng said, “Come into the study, have some tea before you leave.”
“Oh, that’s too much!” Olin, stroking his beard, followed into the room.
…
Andre Willow brewed tea for Olin.
Then she sat to the side, starting to cast the “Taming Technique” on the little owl.
The Taming Technique is a skill for professions like Rangers and Beast Tamers, used to establish a connection with a tamed beast.
Communication is one aspect, but more importantly, it allows sharing perspectives or executing tactical coordination.
It’s very useful indeed.
Wu Heng glanced at Andre Willow, feeling that she was indeed very fond of the little owl.
Her face full of affection.
His gaze returned to ‘Olin,’ “Why haven’t I seen ‘Xi Ligui’ lately?”
This heartfelt and righteous elf Deputy Steward had been unseen for a while.
Olin took a sip of tea and said, “Deputy Steward Xi Ligui has taken two squads out to the island to capture pirates; the higher-ups have set targets, and there’s a certain pressure.”
She went out to the island?
No wonder she hadn’t been seen.
“Have you ever met the Island Master?” Wu Heng continued to inquire.
“I’ve never met him, but it is said that he is a powerful level 18 professional, albeit of pirate origin, and thus not very prestigious.”
This matter had been discussed at the ports of the Yeko Kingdom.
It was no secret to hear about it, but as the Island Master, he seemed never to show himself.
“Doesn’t he live on the island?” Wu Heng asked again.
“That I’m not sure of, but it does seem like no one has ever seen him.”
Wu Heng nodded in understanding.
They continued to discuss some issues about the pirates.
Olin did not stay long, returning to his squad’s resting quarters.
…
Wu Heng looked to the side.
Andre Willow, with a face full of joy, was rocking the little owl back and forth.
Obviously, she was very fond of this tamed creature.
“Have you named it yet?” Wu Heng walked over and gently stroked the top of the little owl’s head.
The little fellow was very well-behaved, just staring up at Wu Heng with big eyes, not dodging or making any aggressive movements.
“Not yet, Master. What do you think sounds nice?”
“It’s your tamed beast; choose a name you like,” Wu Heng touched it again.
“Master, give me some ideas!” Andre Willow hugged the owl with one arm and hooked the other around his arm.
Wu Heng frowned in thought and then suggested, “Pick something simple and easy to remember, like Xiaobai, Pudgy, or the like—cute and easy to remember.”
Pfft~!
Amused by his suggestion, Andre Willow said while holding her tamed beast, “We are not fat at all! Let’s call it Xiaobai.”
With a slight shake of her hand, Xiaobai flew around the room for a loop.
It landed back on ‘Andre Willow’s’ head and directly snuggled down.
The owl’s feathers were white, and so was Andre Willow’s hair.
If you didn’t pay attention with your eyes closed, you wouldn’t even realize an owl was perching there.
As Andre Willow played with her tamed beast, Wu Heng glanced at the time.
He greeted her and then left the association to return to his residence.
…
Back at the residence.
At this time, ‘Mini’ was training in the courtyard. As soon as she saw Wu Heng coming, she ran towards him from afar.
Wu Heng caught her in his arms, and she clung to him like an octopus.
“Master, I missed you so much!”
Wu Heng patted her plump and flexible buttocks, “You make it sound like it’s been a long time since we last met.”
“But I still missed you.”
Holding her, Wu Heng walked towards his room and said, “If you’re bored, you can go to the association to see Wei’er. She just got a new tamed beast, a little owl.”
Mini tilted her head back, resting on his shoulder, and looked into Wu Heng’s eyes, “An owl? Isn’t that Wen Mansha’s tamed beast?”
“Wei’er also has one now, still young, quite cute.”
“Then I will go have a look!” After giving him a big kiss on his face, Mini went back to her room to get dressed and dashed out with the skeleton attendant in tow.
…
Wu Heng went straight up to the third floor.
He checked the radio room.
The Investigator skeleton was still sitting in front of the radio.
The papers on the table were filled with words.
Wu Heng picked it up for a look.
“Damn, the ocean is so boring.”
“Some crew member asked me what’s always done in the prison cell, wondering if they’ve found me?”
“No worries now, the person got killed by Blazing Blade, fed to the fish, and I ate the fish—dead without proof!”
“Really freaking boring…”
Wu Heng’s brows slightly furrowed as he read the message.
Infinite radio, is it meant for you to complain?
He wanted to pick it up and warn her, but thought better of it.
Replying now might excite her even more, leading to endless chatter in the future.
It wasn’t that he feared she would waste the radio; the paper and pen used also cost money.
He closed the room door again, went up to the fourth floor, opened the boundary door, and headed to Zombie World.
…
Appearing in a room at an old factory dormitory.
Wu Heng glanced out the window.
Survivors were building a wall, stacking bricks and cement higher.
He stepped out of the room and had just reached the third floor.
Xiao Xiao’s mother, Zhao Yanqiu, walked right up to him and said, “There’s a message from a group claiming to be from the auto repair shop.”
“What’s the message?” Wu Heng asked.
“They will arrive at the designated spot around 3 PM today.”
The convoy was arriving.
That was significantly earlier than originally planned—by almost half a day.
