Chapter 66: Chapter 64: The Hashira’s Secret Meeting
The next morning, inside the Ubuyashiki estate, the Hashira gathered in a dimly lit hall. The atmosphere was unusually tense — no one was talking loudly, not even Tengen or Sanemi. The reason sat right at the center of their thoughts.
Saitama.
A man they couldn't sense. A man Muzan himself backed away from. A man who only cared about ramen.
"Let's get straight to the point." Sanemi leaned forward, arms crossed. "What the hell is he?"
"Agreed." Obanai's voice was sharp. "Even demons have some sort of presence, some bloodlust, or killing intent. But him? He's a blank slate."
"It's unsettling, isn't it?" Shinobu's usual smile was gone. "Even my insects couldn't read anything from him. His heartbeat, his breathing — everything about him is disturbingly… normal."
"Normal?" Muichiro, half-asleep, finally spoke. "That's not normal."
"I've never seen Muzan hesitate like that," Giyuu said quietly. "He always underestimates his opponents. But with Saitama, he left without even pretending to fight."
"Which means," Rengoku's eyes burned bright, "he knows Saitama is stronger than him."
That sentence made the room fall silent.
A human stronger than Muzan? That was unheard of. Impossible. Yet… they had all witnessed it.
"What if," Mitsuri began hesitantly, "what if he's not human?"
The room stiffened.
"He said he came from another world, right?" she continued. "Maybe in his world, power works differently."
Tengen leaned back, arms behind his head. "So you're saying this bald guy might be some kind of god?"
"God of Ramen maybe," Sanemi grumbled.
"I did some digging," Shinobu said, pulling out a small notebook. "When he arrived, the villagers said they saw a flash of light in the sky — like a shooting star, but it landed instead of burning out."
"A fallen star…" Rengoku's smile returned, "That's Flamboyant!"
"Focus, idiot," Sanemi snapped.
"Here's the real question," Obanai said. "Can we trust him?"
That was the heart of the matter. Muzan feared him, but that didn't mean he was on their side. If someone that strong decided to turn against humanity…
"We have no choice but to observe him," Giyuu said. "So far, his only goal seems to be eating."
"And getting coupons." Shinobu added. "He asked me if the Butterfly Mansion had a discount system."
The entire room sweatdropped.
"For now, we keep him close," Rengoku declared. "If he's our ally, we gain the ultimate weapon. If he's a threat…"
No one finished that sentence. Because none of them, not even all the Hashira combined, believed they could stop Saitama if he ever became their enemy.
"Let's hope he stays on our side," Mitsuri said softly.
As the meeting ended, they all glanced toward the garden, where Saitama was casually sitting on a rock, slurping noodles that Shinobu's cooks had prepared.
Completely unaware of the storm his existence had stirred within the Demon Slayer Corps.
