Chapter 78: Chapter 76: Demon Slayer Festival – Saitama’s Ultimate Test
The air was buzzing with excitement in the Butterfly Mansion. After days of intense (and somewhat ridiculous) training, the Hashira decided to take a break and celebrate — with a festival.
"The Demon Slayer Festival is a rare event!" Mitsuri chirped, spinning in her festival yukata. "It's a tradition where we relax, eat lots of food, play games, and just have fun!"
Saitama stood awkwardly in the corner, already in his plain yukata, looking like a bald potato wrapped in fabric. "Fun… sure."
Tengen dramatically clapped his hands. "But this year, we're adding a twist! We're holding a Slayer Games Tournament! It'll test strength, speed, strategy, and teamwork."
Saitama sighed. "Sounds like a pain."
"Winner gets unlimited festival food for the night!" Mitsuri added.
Saitama's eyes lit up for the first time in hours. "...I'm in."
---
Game One: Water Balloon Battle
The festival began with colorful paper lanterns lighting up the courtyard. Booths lined the area with food, games, and prizes, but the main event was held in the center — a giant water balloon fight.
The rules were simple: hit your opponent with water balloons. Last one dry wins.
The Hashira formed teams, each eager to claim victory. Saitama stood alone, because nobody wanted to team up with the bald weirdo who could end the whole game in a punch.
"Ready… set… GO!"
The Hashira moved like lightning, balloons flying through the air in graceful arcs. Water splashed everywhere. Mitsuri swung balloons with her whip-like flexibility, Tengen's explosions disguised balloon ambushes, and Giyu deflected incoming balloons like they were deadly blades.
Saitama stood still. A single balloon came flying at his face.
He caught it.
And threw it back at full strength.
The balloon rocketed like a cannonball, smashing through three booths, a lantern post, and finally exploding against Sanemi, drenching him from head to toe.
Everyone froze.
"Oops," Saitama muttered.
Sanemi's scream echoed into the night sky.

Game Two: Festival Obstacle Course
The next event was a traditional obstacle race — crawl under tables, climb slippery walls, and balance while carrying a bowl of ramen. It tested agility, control, and speed.
Saitama stood at the starting line, ramen bowl in hand.
"Go!"
Everyone dashed forward, gracefully weaving through obstacles like trained ninjas. Saitama simply walked through everything, knocking over the tables, punching holes through walls, and arriving at the finish line in 5 seconds — ramen bowl untouched.
"...That's cheating," Shinobu muttered.
"There were no rules," Saitama replied.

Game Three: Takoyaki Eating Contest
This was the moment Saitama had been waiting for — food.
Rengoku, Saitama, and Mitsuri sat down, ready to face off in a test of pure appetite. Plates upon plates of fresh, steaming takoyaki were set in front of them.
"BEGIN!"
Rengoku ate with blazing passion. Mitsuri devoured like a tornado, her cheeks stuffed. But Saitama…
He inhaled. Literally.
In a single vacuum-like breath, the table was empty.
Rengoku and Mitsuri stared at him, frozen mid-bite.
"That's… impossible…" Rengoku whispered, tears in his eyes. "Such technique…"
"More, please," Saitama said calmly.
The cook fainted.

Intermission: A Strange Aura
As the festival continued, something felt… off. Even Saitama noticed. A faint presence, almost like a dark shadow, flickered at the edges of his senses.
From the roof, a figure watched the festivities — Douma, Upper Moon Two, his ever-present smile plastered across his face.
"Well, well… they really have adopted the bald man," Douma chuckled. "This festival might be more fun than I thought."
For now, he chose not to interfere. Observing was enough.
But the Hashira weren't fools. Giyu's gaze flickered toward the roof for a brief moment, sensing the presence, but by the time he focused, Douma was gone.
"We need to stay alert," Giyu muttered.

Final Game: Saitama vs. Everyone
As a surprise twist, the festival's final game was a free-for-all battle — everyone vs. Saitama.
"You've been unbeatable so far," Tengen declared. "But now, we all come at you together!"
"Why?" Saitama asked flatly.
"For fun!" Mitsuri cheered.
Saitama sighed but stood up. "Alright. Just don't cry if you lose."
They all attacked at once — Tengen with his explosive kunai, Rengoku with blazing slashes, Mitsuri's whip-like blade, and Giyu's fluid strikes.
Saitama stood still.
He didn't dodge. He didn't counter. He just stood there, hands in his yukata pockets, while every single attack bounced off him harmlessly.
"...This is boring," Saitama muttered.
Suddenly, a flash of movement came from the trees — Tanjiro! He launched himself at Saitama, unleashing a perfectly executed Hinokami Kagura strike.
For a split second, Saitama's expression shifted — not from fear, but mild curiosity.
The blade struck Saitama's shoulder… and broke into pieces.
Everyone froze.
"Well," Saitama said, brushing off his shoulder. "Guess that's that."
The festival ended with Saitama crowned the undisputed champion of literally everything.

Later That Night
Saitama sat alone on the mansion rooftop, looking at the stars. Despite winning everything, he didn't feel any real excitement.
"Was it fun?" Mitsuri's voice came from behind him.
Saitama shrugged. "I guess."
"You know… you're really strong, but strength isn't everything. Festivals are fun because we're together — not because we win." She smiled brightly. "Next time, let's lose together, okay?"
Saitama blinked, caught off guard. "...Sure."
For the first time in a long while, he smiled.
Far away, Douma grinned in the shadows.
"Oh, I really like this guy."
