The Otherworldly Mercenary

Chapter 36: Ch 35 - Odin and Hela

"Heimdall!!"

Thor stepped into the dome like building and shouted, his facial expression was filled with anxiety and anger.

But he received only silence in return which made him even more anxious.

He quickly looked around and finally, his eyes rested on Heimdall who was lying down on the ground, looking lifeless.

"Heimdall?"

Approaching the fallen comrade, Thor fell to his knees and picked Heimdall up.

"Are you alright?"

Sif who was beside Thor quickly checked Heimdall's condition and patted Thor's shoulder.

"He is alive. I think he has been knocked out unconscious by the enemy."

"Then let's wake him up," Thor said to Sif who nodded her head.

While Sif and others were waking up the gatekeeper of the Asgard, Thor quickly connected to his father.

"Father, we found Heimdall. He is safe. The enemy just knocked him out."

"That's good..." Odin took a sigh of relief before he asked cautiously. "Umm... do you find someone else there?"

"No. Whoever it was. He is not here anymore. I am afraid he or she must have sneaked into Asgard by now. Father, give me authority and I will use all the Asgardian forces to find that bastard and bring his head to you." Thor spoke with justice. He was a proud warrior of Asgard and letting an enemy attack his comrade and sneak into his home, it was insulting to a man of his status.

Thor was quite confident that his father would definitely agree and gave him permission but contrary to his thoughts, Odin's words left him in a state of shock and he was unable to speak for a few seconds.

"No. You will not do anything foolish. I just send you there to check on Heimdall and make sure that he is all right, not to start a war. So... after you are done. Come back obediently to the Palace."

After saying that Odin cut off the connection, not caring about Thor's thoughts and reaction.

Back inside the castle

Odin sighed heavily and closed his only eye sadly, wondering why his son was so stupid and always thought about fighting and killing.

He wanted his son to grow up quickly so he could pass on his throne to him but considering his stupid actions, Odin was worried and did not dare to let Thor become the king.

As for Loki... Odin could only sigh helplessly. No matter how much Loki tried to sneak behind his back, Odin was always aware of his stupid schemes and actions.

He just did not interfere too much and wanted to let the time teach the consequences of the actions to his second son.

Frigga furrowed her brows and quickly rubbed her husband's chest, worried for his health. She was scared that Odin would push himself and enter his sleep earlier than usual.

"Oh my, sorry for intruding. I do not think that you two will be, ahem..."

However, their sweet moment was destroyed by a young voice.

Odin was startled and jumped to his feet, looking around vigilantly. He was shocked to discover that unbeknownst to his perception, two intruders had actually appeared inside his personal chamber.

Even Frigga was flabbergasted by their appearance, looking at him with a panicked expression.

Seph coughed twice and scratched the side of his face embarrassingly. He had not anticipated to come across their little moment.

Beside him, Hela stared at his father and snorted coldly.

"Hmph! What a pathetic side, Father. You have fallen to such a state. Why am I not surprised?"

"Hela," Odin watched her firstborn child that he had sealed away with a heavy heart. Looking at her cold eyes, he could only sigh and ask.

"Why are you here? Do you still want to..."

He tightened his grip over his weapon and asked slowly.

"Hmm... you have made sure that I will not be able to escape from my prison, right? What a shame! If everything had been fine then I do not have to see your face until you have been dead." She crossed her arms in front of her chest and continued. "But alas, even you have not anticipated something like this..."

"Hela..." Frigga called her name softly, looking at her daughter with a pained expression. She might not been Hela's biological mother but she still loved him as much as she loved her son.

Hela ignored her mother totally and stared at her father Odin.

"You!... Indeed. I want to keep you there until you understand that what you want to do is not just..." Odin spoke sadly.

"Oh, please... don't give me your lecture. Among everyone, you don't deserve to say that..." Hela was annoyed by her father and cut him off.

Seph wanted to speak but he found himself getting overwhelmed by the situation as the father and daughter pair kept arguing non-stop.

A tick mark appeared on his forehead and he shouted at Hela.

"Alright. That's enough! I do not bring you here to have a death match with your old man."

Hela stopped her fight with Odin and glared at Seph. Just when it looked like she would lash out or even attack him but contrary to their expectations, she just grumbled a little and closed her mouth.

It not only left Seph dumbfounded but even Odin and Frigga who were very familiar with their daughter's character shocked, in a state of trance as they kept staring at Hela, unable to believe that the woman was the same bloodthirsty Goddess of Death who fought with Odin in order to snatch the throne all those years ago.

Odin's only eye widened to the extreme as his eyeball was threatening to jump out of its socket. He stared at his daughter with a look of disbelief.

Frigga on the other hand, observed Seph with a look of interest. She could guess that the change in Hela had come from this man.

As a woman, her instincts regarding such matters were sharper than her husband's. She could not help but cover her mouth and giggle.

Seph rubbed his hair and grumbled. "You two father and daughter are the same. Both of you are like children... I just came here to wander around and chat a little but you two are..."

He sighed heavily as he was really annoyed by them fighting each other.

Cough Cough

Odin coughed a little and regained his composure, asking.

"Who are you, young man? What is your relationship with my daughter?"

Seph raised his head and looked at him, muttering.

"If I hadn't seen your past, I might have been fooled by your kind and benevolent character." He shrugged his shoulder and replied. "We are just acquaintances. A mutual friend introduced her to me."
