Chapter 874 The Frenzied Serpent Demon
The assassin emerging from the shadows was naturally Lancelot. Seeing that Sonam was in critical condition, he launched a Shadow Jump from the utmost distance. The low-hanging red sun and the perilous terrain around him provided an ideal environment for his abilities.
For some reason, after returning from the Fallen Shadow Netherworld, all his shadow-related abilities had been enhanced. During the short period after a Shadow Jump, none of his actions would make any sound, and the target's attention was fully drawn by the condition of the Serpent Demon, which allowed him to deliver such a perfect lethal strike.
However, although the commander had been eliminated, those Berserk Demons, who had entered a berserk state, didn't notice what was happening on this side and continued their charge towards the heavily wounded six-armed Serpent Demon. Seeing this, Lancelot made up his mind and delivered a hard kick to the backside of the Mimic Demon's corpse, using ninety percent of his cultivation power, sending the over two-thousand-pound body flying like a cannonball.
"Boom!!!!"
The Mimic Demon's body even left afterimages as it flew through the air, crashing heavily into the first Berserk Demon obstructing its path. The terrifying impact turned the unfortunate creature into a pile of flesh, and the Mimic Demon's body began spinning at high speed, its crab-like giant claws becoming a kind of terrifying saw wheel. A slight graze on the body could create a dreadful wound, leaving the Berserk Demons it touched either dead or gravely injured, all lying unconscious on the ground.
Lancelot was satisfied with the effect of this kick, but he did not stand around to admire the outcome. Instead, he adjusted his breath and immediately charged forward with his sword.
The Berserk Demons finally realized someone had intervened. Several instinctively looked back, only to meet the warhammers and throwing axes from the Dwarf father-and-son duo head-on; Letisha and Little Isa each drew short bows and, while running, plucked their bowstrings, shooting arrows with precision; Kalalin and Alamir found cover and hid. As the spellcasters of the group, their primary task was to handle unforeseen events on the battlefield, so they did not rush to make a move.
However, this group itself was the greatest unforeseen event; nothing could change the outcome of this battle anymore. In less than a minute, the original hunters had all turned into broken limbs scattered across the red land of the Plains of the Abyss, slowly dissolving.
"I'm really glad to see you again, Lady Sonam." Lancelot rotated his longsword, flicking off the foul blood on it. "Finally, a familiar face..."
"You are... Lancelot?" The six-armed Serpent Demon looked shocked at the Human Knight. "You... you actually..."
"I was previously in a terrifying domain in the Fallen Shadow Netherworld, a place isolated from the world..."
"You actually dared to come back!!!!!!!"
The six-armed Serpent Demon let out a heart-wrenching roar, suddenly swinging her sword at the Human Knight who just saved her. Lancelot did not expect such a reaction from her, parrying her attack purely on instinct while quickly stepping back to create distance between him and the Serpent Demon.
"What are you doing?" Lancelot yelled, confused and angry. "What do you mean by 'dare to come back'?"
"It's all because of you that Twin Bridges Town was destroyed!" Sonam charged at him again, "Die!!!!"
Lancelot wanted to continue to explain, but the sharp wind from her sword forced him to remain silent. Despite being severely wounded, the Serpent Demon was still an extremely dangerous opponent, especially in a one-on-one scenario. Her four extra arms could easily suppress any humanoid creature. Moreover, since Lancelot's armor was shattered by the Lich's Meteor Technique, he was wearing a temporary makeshift chainmail, which could not compare to his previous set of mithril full plate armor in terms of defense, and he certainly didn't intend to test his body's resilience in this situation.
Fortunately, Lancelot was not inexperienced when it came to battling such demons. The Serpent Demons may have six arms, but the arms on the same side couldn't perform different actions while attacking, making it possible to parry their attacks once one grasped this peculiarity.
Lancelot immediately noticed Sonam's three arms on the right were raised high, while the three on the left were tightly pressed against her side, indicating that he would be facing a combination of slashing and thrusting attacks. The only question was, which would come first?
In the past, Lancelot might have had to take a gamble, but now he had the strength to let his opponent make the first move. His Divine Sense Power erupted instantly, and his opponent's movements seemed ten times slower, allowing him to respond calmly.
Just as he expected, the left-side slashes came first. Lancelot even had the time to observe the tension or relaxation of the shoulder muscles of the Serpent Demon, thus confirming whether the attack was a feint or real.
Sonam had no intention of disguise; it was a real attack.
Lancelot raised the sword hilt over his head, the tip pointing towards the ground, making the sword stand upright like a shield in front of him; meanwhile, he stepped forward instead of retreating and simultaneously spun his body counterclockwise, swinging his weapon around him. The sound of three almost consecutive sharp clangs was heard as all the Serpent Demon's slashes were deflected to the sides. Lancelot, completing his spin, instantly followed up with a two-handed vertical slash. This forceful strike was faster than the Serpent Demon's follow-up thrust, especially now that they were very close. The longsword smashed heavily at the base of the blade, the Human Knight clearly possessing greater strength. All three swords held by the Serpent Demon's left arms were forced into the ground.
Lancelot's attack-and-block combo not only neutralized all of Sonam's attacks but also allowed him to completely invade the Serpent Demon's middle ground, with their bodies nearly touching. The six-armed Serpent Demon, utterly consumed by savage killing intent, almost madly opened her snake-tongued mouth, revealing her two long needle-like fangs, preparing to bite down on the Human Knight's chainmail-covered neck.
However, what awaited her was an iron elbow like a warhammer, slamming hard into her jaw.
All demons would use their mouths to attack, a fact Lancelot was long accustomed to.
The elbow is one of the body's hardest parts and can generate considerable force; its only deficiency is the small attack range. But as long as it hits the target, its effect would be no less potent than any weapon. Sonam was struck so hard she was almost lifted off the ground, and this was even with Lancelot holding back. Otherwise, even with a demon's monstrous physical constitution, Lancelot could have easily pried her head clean off her neck.
