Chapter 143: A Thousand Miles to Meet by Fate
The backyard was well cleaned, with various flowers and plants placed all around—it was quite nicely taken care of.
There was even a cat raised in the yard, lying on the flower rack, resting with its eyes closed.
Seeing Tang Rao and Zhou Quanyou enter, it couldn't be bothered to stand up. It narrowed its eyes, sneezed.
Zhou Boxiong's grandpa was sitting in the courtyard, holding an old smoking pipe, puffing out smoke with bubbling sounds.
An empty sleeve dangled from his right arm; it must have been as Zhou Boxiong said, bitten off by the giant python that guarded the Nine-leaf Blood Ginseng back in the day.
"Old man, having a smoke?" Zhou Quanyou approached and said.
"Are you blind, of course I'm smoking." The old man flipped his eyelid and cursed.
Zhou Quanyou chuckled awkwardly. He was long accustomed to his father's temper.
A couple of curses were just routine in the household.
From a young age to the present, the beatings he took are beyond count.
Even now, when the old man gets pissed, he'd still brandish his pipe and chase after him.
"This is Boxiong's classmate, Tang Rao, here to visit you," Zhou Quanyou introduced.
Zhou Sancai raised his head to look at Tang Rao.
"You come to visit me without bringing anything?" Zhou Sancai squinted his murky eyes and spoke in an official dialect thick with a local accent.
Zhou Quanyou couldn't help feeling embarrassed.
"So, what would you like?" Tang Rao asked.
"What I like, you can't afford." Zhou Sancai looked at Tang Rao with a cold tone.
Tang Rao grinned, amused by the old man's fiery temperament.
"Things like Nine-leaf Blood Ginseng, indeed, I can't afford," Tang Rao said bluntly without beating around the bush.
Zhou Sancai's face changed dramatically, he sat up straight from the recliner, flare gleaming in his old eyes.
"Quanyou, take the man out!" Zhou Sancai commanded.
"Old man, they've come all the way from Sui City, you..."
"Scram!"
Zhou Quanyou opened his mouth, then looked helplessly towards Tang Rao.
"What, has the giant python scared you witless? It's been thirty odd years, hasn't it? Swallowed your anger after that beast bit off your right arm?" Tang Rao said mockingly, staring at Zhou Sancai.
"What did you say!!" Zhou Sancai shot up angrily, face fierce.
"What I said should be crystal clear to you. I'm here for the Nine-leaf Blood Ginseng. If you're content with nursing this grudge for decades, willing to take it to your grave, then I've got nothing to say," Tang Rao stated plainly, spreading his hands.
Truth be told, meeting Zhou Sancai was just looking for a local guide.
It's not necessary; with Yan Wei's abilities, deducing the general location of the Nine-leaf Blood Ginseng shouldn't be too hard.
"Tang Rao... you..."
"Get out! I'm talking to you, Zhou Quanyou, get lost right now!" Zhou Sancai roared furiously.
Zhou Quanyou stiffened, confused.
I didn't do anything, why the hell am I being told to scram?
But, recognizing the fear he's had for his dad over the years, Zhou Quanyou still left.
Only Tang Rao, Zhou Sancai, and a lazy, half-closed-eyed fat cat remained in the backyard.
"Your name is Tang Rao?" Zhou Sancai looked at Tang Rao.
"Yes."
"You're here for the Nine-leaf Blood Ginseng?"
"Yeah."
"Stroll around Baishan with Boxiong, then head back. Don't lose your life for such mythical objects," Zhou Sancai took a puff from his pipe and said.
"With how I am now, do you think I could kill that giant python?" Tang Rao took a couple of steps forward and pressed his palm on the stone table.
Bang!
A dull thump erupted, and immediately after, the stone table shattered abruptly, breaking into fragments scattered all over the ground.
Zhou Sancai dumbfoundedly stared at Tang Rao, then foolishly looked towards the smashed stone table on the ground, his mind somewhat unable to wrap around the situation.
What... what the heck is this?!
"There's a concrete stool over here, perform that one more time." Zhou Sancai scurried over a few steps and dragged over a stool completely made of concrete.
Tang Rao: "..."
I could shatter a stone table, but this damn concrete lump, this thing is much harder than the stone table.
You old cunning bastard, you're trying to screw me over.
However, to instill confidence in Zhou Sancai, Tang Rao had no choice but to exert some effort.
Spiritual Energy gathered above his fist and then he ferociously slammed it down on the concrete stool.
A resounding boom sounded, and concrete fragments flew off; the entire concrete stool was full of cracks.
Tang Rao casually kicked it, and with a snap, the stool shattered into four or five pieces.
Breaking a concrete stool into fragments, this Tang Rao really couldn't manage.
"Good heavens!" Zhou Sancai immediately ran over, crouched, and checked the concrete stool.
One could smash it with a single punch; that's far too ferocious.
It's simply inhuman!
"This... this is impossible," Zhou Sancai said, a tad disbelieving. Could a human fist really generate such power?
"You've already seen the giant python and the Nine-leaf Blood Ginseng, so what's impossible?" Tang Rao said with a laugh.
Zhou Sancai fell silent.
Yeah, that giant python was terrifyingly huge and extremely spiritual; and that Nine-leaf Blood Ginseng was even more bizarre and extraordinary.
"Okay, I'll take you up the mountain!" After pondering for a while, Zhou Sancai bit the bullet and said.
Just like what Tang Rao said, that grudge from getting his arm bitten off by the giant python, he couldn't forget it.
Thirty years, he had been holding his breath for thirty years!
He's nearly eighty years old now, not many years left to live; if this grudge isn't settled, he'd be unwilling even in death.
"Eh..." Tang Rao originally wanted to say that you're old and better not to go.
But thinking of Zhou Sancai's volatile temper, Tang Rao forcibly held back his words.
Probably Zhou Quanyou and Zhou Boxiong also couldn't dissuade him, just look at Zhou Quanyou; in front of Zhou Sancai, he's practically a little white rabbit.
"When do we leave?" asked Zhou Sancai.
"We can go right now," Tang Rao shrugged, not sure when Guan Zhenkong would come, so it's better to address the Nine-leaf Blood Ginseng matter sooner rather than later.
Half an hour later, Zhou Sancai, together with Tang Rao and Zhou Boxiong, started their mountain hike.
They took the Baishan West Slope sightseeing route; going up this way was safe. Anyway, they'd only take a detour at the top, so there was no need to take the smaller trails from the start.
Since it was summer vacation, the school students were on holiday, and there were quite a few tourists.
"Fat Bear, can you keep up, damn it!" Halfway up, Tang Rao was almost losing his patience.
Zhou Boxiong was really too sluggish, needing a rest every five minutes.
Look at your grandfather, eighty and yet still strides with vigor.
"No, no, this time it's not for a rest," Zhou Boxiong waved his hand, then pointed to a platform nearby, "Look at that, who do you think it is? Ha ha ha, it's like destiny brings us together from thousands of miles away; we really can't get rid of these idiots no matter what."
Tang Rao looked in the direction Zhou Boxiong pointed to. On a huge platform, a crowd was carrying long guns and short cannons, apparently shooting something.
"Uh... Wang Xiyang?" Tang Rao was also somewhat surprised to encounter her here.
"Hehe, Boss Tang, let's go say hi," Zhou Boxiong said.
"Forget it, I've got important things to do, let's go." Tang Rao rolled his eyes; you don't have much to do with Wang Xiyang, why the hell say hello?
"Come on, let's have a look," Zhou Boxiong said as he walked up.
"Are you blind, watch your step!" Before Zhou Boxiong got close to Wang Xiyang, he was harshly shoved by a middle-aged man wearing a visor cap, stumbled, and nearly fell.
