The Peerless Beauty Stuck With Me

Chapter 153: Do You Want to Hitch a Ride?

Apart from Fei Jiu, everyone else blinked.

"Really can't understand you guys, why must you wear stealth clothes, to announce to others that we're up to no good? Dressing upright and proper like me is much better, no climbing walls or fences, and not afraid to meet the coppers!" Tang Rao said, very calmly.

The crowd blinked again, a bit confused.

"Now that you mention it, it does seem right." After a while, Library suddenly spoke.

"Right about what! With the way you're dressed, how can you stay under the radar? It's two in the morning, not broad daylight! Do you have any idea how conspicuous you are walking around like that?" Liu Shisan coldly retorted at Tang Rao.

Thud thud!

Tang Rao took out his car keys and pressed them twice, and the car in the backyard parking lot unlocked.

"You're insane, why would I walk on the road? Can't I drive?" Tang Rao rolled his eyes and then walked straight to the car, pulled open the door, and got in.

The car window slowly rolled down, Tang Rao looked towards the still dazed five people.

"Hey, want a lift?" Tang Rao asked.

Liu Shisan's beautiful face was throbbing with veins.

Her hands clenched with a creaking sound.

"Alright, everyone get in the car. We're short on time, no dilly-dallying," Guan Zhenkong waved his hand and said.

...

The car took the road towards Baishan West Slope.

In less than half an hour, the car reached the outskirts of the west slope, near the ticket booth.

Tang Rao parked the car in a slightly concealed spot, switching off all the lights.

"Get out of the car, up the mountain," Guan Zhenkong didn't beat around the bush and directly said.

Since they were sneaking up the mountain, naturally, they couldn't go through the main entrance. They had to use the back mountain trail which was extremely rough and very steep.

But to Tang Rao's surprise, even Library, the fatso, could tackle it with ease.

All along the way, their speed was quite fast.

This bunch, they all seem to be no ordinary characters, Tang Rao muttered to himself.

As for him, naturally, he was at the very back, well, I'm the best, I'll close out for you all.

An hour later, around three-thirty, the group of six had reached their destination. They were half an hour earlier than the scheduled four o'clock.

The place was a deep valley between mountain gorges, an indent among the mountains.

The terrain was surprisingly flat, surrounded by densely grown, towering trees.

"Kevin, scout the cave," Guan Zhenkong approached a spot, lifted layer upon layer of cover, revealing a deep cave.

The cave was small, barely enough for one person to pass through.

Kevin didn't waste words, taking out a silver metal ball and a remote with a screen from his pocket.

"Squeak" the metal ball emitted a buzz and then started to roll quickly.

Under Kevin's control, it shot into the cave.

The screen on Kevin's remote displayed the footage.

"Go!" Guan Zhenkong led the way, lowered a rope, and squeezed into the cave.

Following him were Kevin, then Liu Shisan, then Library.

"Ah ah..." Fei Jiu pointed towards the cave entrance, signaling Tang Rao to go down first.

Tang Rao looked at Fei Jiu.

To be honest, he didn't really like to entrust his back to someone he couldn't trust.

Among this group, Guan Zhenkong was the only one he could trust. Even Fei Jiu, although a long-time partner of Guan Zhenkong, Tang Rao still couldn't trust him.

"Why don't you go down first?" Tang Rao said to Fei Jiu.

"Ah ah..." Fei Jiu still pointed steadfastly at the cave entrance.

Tang Rao narrowed his eyes and didn't say anything else to Fei Jiu. He didn't even go for the rope; he just leaped into the cave.

Although pitch-black inside, Tang Rao could still make out the rough layout with his vision.

About ten meters deep – for him, there was no need for a rope.

At the opening, a strange glint flashed across Fei Jiu's eyes.

Apart from Tang Rao, everyone had a flashlight in hand, very bright, and a few combined could illuminate most of the area.

Spacious!

That was Tang Rao's first impression.

Indeed, the initial tomb passage was small, but inside, it was quite large.

It was about ten meters wide from one side to the other, with a height of around five meters. Despite this, it was still just a passageway.

Tang Rao wasn't sure how long the passageway was; the beam of the flashlight didn't reveal the end.

"Kevin, how's it looking up ahead?" Guan Zhenkong walked up to Kevin, asking quietly.

"Nothing unusual; I've checked the air. Aside from a slightly high carbon dioxide level, there are no toxic gases." Kevin looked at the remote control screen, which displayed rows of data incomprehensible to ordinary people.

"That's good. I'll lead; Fei Jiu, watch our six – everybody be careful." Guan Zhenkong signaled Fei Jiu with some hand gestures. Fei Jiu nodded and gave an ok signal back to Guan Zhenkong.

Tang Rao walked ahead of Fei Jiu and behind the Library group. He stayed close to the left wall instead of the center of the passageway, stretching out his hand, feeling the wall as he moved along.

It was a strange sensation, slightly damp, and yet... the air here was clearly quite dry.

Tang Rao rubbed his fingers together, his brow furrowing slightly, noticing a degree of stickiness – it seemed… it wasn't just moisture.

It was like... something secreted by a creature, like a snail, for instance.

But it couldn't be snails covering the whole wall, could it?

Weird...

"We're about to leave the passageway, stay alert. The passageway leads to a hall, which has no traps, only some statues. But past the hall…" Guan Zhenkong left it unsaid.

But everyone understood; it probably had to do with the eerie female singing that Guan Zhenkong had mentioned.

Guan Zhenkong had explored this cave before, half a year ago. On that expedition, seven people entered, but only Guan Zhenkong and Fei Jiu came out alive.

Before entering the tomb this time, Guan Zhenkong must have briefed everyone.

Soon, the group entered the hall.

The hall was much more spacious than the passageway, seemingly circular with a diameter of about a hundred meters.

In the middle of the hall stood several strange statues.

Each statue was about three meters tall, and they all had human bodies with animal heads.

These animals didn't belong to any species on Blue Star.

But Tang Rao recognized them.

Yes, Tang Rao looked closely; he recognized every one of these beastly heads.

Magma Barbaric Beast, Ironclad Fury Dragon, Green Phoenix, Fierce Winged Tiger, Sawtooth Vajra…

Each one, within the Nine Realms and Seventy-two Domains, was a symbol of power, a chilling presence.

Why were there statues of these things here?

Tang Rao could only think of one explanation: the creator, or rather, the owner of the tomb, like him, came from the Nine Realms and Seventy-two Domains.

But why erect statues of these Super Spiritual Beasts here? And why did they all have human lower bodies?

Hard to explain, very strange.

"Let's rest here for a while," Guan Zhenkong took a deep breath, found a rock to sit on, and repeatedly took deep breaths.

Half a year later, once again in this place, his heart was filled with excitement but also intense fear.
