Chapter 19: You Might Not Believe It If I Tell You
"Hello, sir. I'm Sun Xuefei, your designated driver for this time," the girl said, bowing her head slightly.
"Alright, let's go then," Tang Rao didn't say much, turned around, walked to the passenger side, pulled the door open, and got right in.
Not until this moment did Sun Xuefei notice Tang Rao's car.
Instantly, she was somewhat overwhelmed.
She had driven luxury vehicles like Mercedes and Audi before, but... a supercar, she had never actually driven one.
And it was a Koenigsegg worth thirty million at that.
Such high-class supercars could astonish anyone with the retail price of a single original rearview mirror alone.
"What are you dawdling for? Get in," Tang Rao called out, are you here to gawk at the car or to be a designated driver?
It's already past eleven or twelve o'clock; I'm eager to get home and sleep.
Hearing Tang Rao's shout, Sun Xuefei composed herself, carefully opened the door, and just as cautiously sat in the driver's seat, buckling the safety belt.
Every single movement was extremely gentle, as if afraid to damage something.
You know, if she were to really damage something, she couldn't afford the cost even if she went bankrupt.
Before long, the car hit the road, moving at a slow pace, hardly ever exceeding sixty. Sun Xuefei really didn't dare to drive fast; if any accidents happened, it would be a major problem.
"Um... Sun Xuefei, right?" Tang Rao didn't like the silence and took the initiative to start a conversation.
"Yes, that's right."
"So, you're out here being a designated driver this late, how will you get back after dropping me home?" Tang Rao asked.
"I co-rent a place next to Shoushan; I live there. It's not a long walk back," responded Sun Xuefei, who had taken the job specifically because Tang Rao's destination was near Shoushan.
"I see," said Tang Rao, nodding.
Sun Xuefei glanced at Tang Rao through the rearview mirror. Handsome face, calm demeanor, and super wealthy—was this what they called a tall, rich, and handsome guy?
"Do you think I'm very handsome?" Tang Rao noticed Sun Xuefei looking at him and couldn't help but ask.
Sun Xuefei was momentarily startled, her cheeks tinged with red.
"Not to hide the truth from you, I've always thought that those tall, rich, and handsome guys are arrogant and insolent. But you're completely different from what I've imagined. You seem very dignified and modest," said Sun Xuefei. She wasn't trying to flatter; that's what she genuinely thought.
"What if I'm just pretending?" Tang Rao said amusedly.
"Well, I've been mixed up in society for three or four years; I do have some discernment," Sun Xuefei did not feel that Tang Rao was pretending; it was an intuition, a woman's intuition.
"Alright, you got me. Actually, I'm very cultured, generous, and friendly. Not only am I very wealthy, but I also have class. All in all, I am a tall, rich, and handsome man with depth..." Tang Rao said earnestly.
Sun Xuefei burst out laughing.
She had never met someone who boasted about themselves like this...
The strangeness gradually faded away, and in the midst of a relaxing conversation, time flew by.
"Let's go to your place first," Tang Rao suggested as they neared Shoushan.
Sun Xuefei was taken aback for a moment.
"Don't get the wrong idea. I enjoyed our chat, and since we're so fated, we can at least be considered friends. You go back first. I'm almost sober now, and I can drive myself home later. It'll save you the extra walk. Besides, it's not safe for a girl like you to be out this late at night," Tang Rao said with a smile, trying to seem as sincere as possible.
"You... don't have ulterior motives, do you?" Sun Xuefei looked at Tang Rao and asked.
Tang Rao felt a twinge of embarrassment inside. You guessed it; I really do have ulterior motives.
You might not believe it, but I just realized that I've run out of cash on me.
"How could that be? I just feel it's not easy to find someone you can have a good conversation with." Tang Rao wasn't bluffing on this point, he really did enjoy and feel relaxed chatting with Sun Xuefei—it seemed like there was an endless amount of topics to talk about.
"Alright then..." In the end, Sun Xuefei agreed.
Come to think of it, from Purple Garden Villa to where she lived was quite a distance, walking back would take at least half an hour.
Soon, Sun Xuefei drove her car to the community she rented in.
The security guard at the community was stunned when he saw the car. Isn't this a low-income housing area? Why suddenly bring a supercar in here, what's the meaning of this?
After driving a bit further in, Sun Xuefei stopped the car.
"Here I am," Sun Xuefei pointed to the building in front and said to Tang Rao.
"Okay, then I won't go down with you. Oh right, I'll give you the money." As he said that, Tang Rao reached for his wallet.
Of course, his movements were rather slow.
Oh my god, beautiful lady, say something, please.
"You just said it, we're friends, no need to take money, I'm off." Saying so, Sun Xuefei opened the car door and waved at Tang Rao.
"Then let's exchange phone numbers." Tang Rao got out from the passenger side.
He was a bit embarrassed, even though he genuinely wanted to be friends with Sun Xuefei, in the end... he hadn't paid for the designated driver service.
"Oh, alright then." Sun Xuefei didn't refuse, after all, the guy's driving a Koenigsegg, a big tycoon; it's good to have more friends and connections.
After exchanging phone numbers, Tang Rao didn't linger any longer and drove straight out of the community.
Watching the taillights disappear into the distance, Sun Xuefei zoned out a bit.
Is this what a real scion of a wealthy family is like? Indeed... they are different from us ordinary folks.
Whether it's the aura they carry or the confidence exuded in every gesture, it's not what the average person possesses.
If Tang Rao knew what Sun Xuefei was thinking at that moment, he probably would have laughed so hard that he couldn't close his mouth.
Finally, a girl who knows her stuff, not like Jiang Langyue and Lei Li, those girls, who think I'm trash and a beast all day long...
As soon as Sun Xuefei got to her front door, the door swung open with a clang from inside.
Then, two arms reached out violently from inside and pulled Sun Xuefei in.
Lastly, Sun Xuefei was thrown onto the sofa.
"Fei Fei, come clean, who's that rich guy?"
"Oh my god, our Fei Fei is going to be defiled by a bald, nouveau riche!"
Looking at the two scantily clad best friends in front of her, Sun Xuefei was helpless.
The one on the left with two ponytails looking like a 16-year-old loli is named Tian Tian; and the one on the right in a black lace nightgown full of charm is Jiang Nuanqiu.
The three attended the same university, stayed in the same dorm, and after graduation, they stayed to struggle in Sui City.
Naturally, their relationship needs no further mention, the three of them even purposely offered incense and swore brotherhood before Guan Gong.
"Ah, what are you all talking about? I was doing a designated driver service. Look at me, I'm still wearing the company uniform." Sun Xuefei pointed at the designated driver company's outfit she was wearing.
"Fei Fei, it's not good to lie, oh? Could it be that such a tycoon lives in a low-income housing area?" Jiang Nuanqiu crossed her arms over her chest, revealing a trace of seductiveness.
"That's right, impossible, Fei Fei, spit it out!" Tian Tian propped up her chin.
"Well... it's really like this. He lives in the Purple Garden Villa; he said it was too late and was afraid it's dangerous for me to walk back alone, so he let me come back first," Sun Xuefei said in a soft voice.
