Chapter 22: To Avoid Being Bitten by a Lunatic
"If you have time to stare at me with bulging eyes, why not go buy a few more old ginseng instead. I'm telling you, we may be familiar, but you better have all one hundred old ginseng by tomorrow, not one less," said Tang Rao as he glanced at Jiang Langyue.
"There's no need for you to remind me," Jiang Langyue pointed at Tang Rao, his eyes bulging like marbles.
"Also, let me tell you, Tang Rao, sooner or later you better scram far away and stop bothering my sister!" Jiang Langyue sounded fierce, looking like he wanted to skin Tang Rao alive.
"Alright, Xiao Yue, tone it down a bit," Jiang Langhuan was somewhat helpless; Xiao Yue always ended up fighting whenever he met Tang Rao.
These two, maybe they were enemies in a past life.
"Tang Rao, grandfather is in the backyard, I'll take you there," Jiang Langhuan told Tang Rao.
"That's good, the sooner I meet him, the sooner I can leave and avoid being bitten by some lunatic," Tang Rao nodded, and while saying that, he deliberately glanced at Jiang Langyue.
"Tang Rao you jerk, who are you calling a lunatic! Who are you calling a lunatic!" Jiang Langyue exploded again.
Tang Rao did not respond to Jiang Langyue, but his facial expression said it all.
Nonsense, of course I'm talking about you. Just look at yourself, what else could you be if not a lunatic?
I'm telling you, you should go get checked out at a hospital, I guarantee the doctor will tell your family: send him to a mental institution, we can't save him here.
But despite his anger, Jiang Langyue didn't really do anything.
He could only curse Tang Rao silently hundreds of thousands of times in his heart.
...
Backyard, flowers bright and grass green, with bird chirps and faint light, it looked really nice and refreshing.
"Did you manage all this? It's really impressive, very stylish. Our Xiao Huan, truly a radiant and artistic beauty," Tang Rao praised as he looked at Jiang Langhuan.
Jiang Langhuan had a weird look on her face.
"Um…" Seeing Jiang Langhuan's expression, Tang Rao had a bad feeling.
"All this… was actually done by Xiao Yue."
"Forget what I just said," Tang Rao immediately said, truly feeling awkward. He really hadn't expected that Jiang Langyue, that violent shrew, could create something like this.
Jiang Langhuan nearly burst out laughing, covering her mouth.
Soon, Tang Rao saw the elderly man in the yard, dressed casually and of medium build.
The old man was holding a watering can, happily watering the plants.
"Grandfather, Tang Rao is here," Jiang Langhuan called out softly.
The old man turned to look at Tang Rao.
Tang Rao remembered the old man's appearance from the original Tang Rao's memories.
Even though he looked spirited, it didn't hide the wrinkles on his face.
There was also a deep, dark scar on his forehead, extending like a worm from the front of his brow to behind his ear.
Ugly as hell! This was Tang Rao's opinion of Jiang Tiesheng.
"Xiao Rao, we haven't seen each other for quite a while, have we?" Jiang Tiesheng put down his watering can, squeezing out a smile.
Even more wrinkles appeared, making him look really unpleasant.
"You're busy, looking high and far every day, we common folks hardly catch your eye," Tang Rao said with a broad smile.
Jiang Tiesheng was slightly taken aback, he hadn't expected Tang Rao to say something like this.
The last time they met, this kid didn't dare say a word in front of him.
"Tang Rao…" Jiang Langhuan gave Tang Rao a look.
This guy, how can he talk to Grandpa in such an ambiguous and insincere manner.
Tang Rao pretended not to see Jiang Langhuan's expression.
Don't think that just because you're old you can act all high and mighty in front of me. Let me tell you the truth, even those who have lived for five to six hundred or even over a thousand years in the Nine Realms and Seventy-two Domains have to respectfully call me Senior Tang when they see me!
"Alright, if you have something to say, say it. I'll leave after we're done, I have other things to attend to." Tang Rao said directly, not wanting to waste time here.
I'll go home and digest the remaining Old Ginseng Pills, then wait for Jiang Langyue to deliver the purchased old ginseng, and after refining it into Spiritual Medicine, wait for successful energy gathering.
"You, young man, your temper isn't small either." Jiang Tiesheng looked at Tang Rao, eyes slightly drooping.
"This has nothing to do with temper, I just don't like to waste time and life. So, don't beat around the bush with me, just spit it out, if it can be resolved let's resolve it; if not, we'll go our separate ways." Tang Rao bluntly retorted, flipping his eyelids.
Jiang Tiesheng was somewhat stunned; he never imagined that his meeting with Tang Rao would turn out like this.
This kid doesn't play by the rules at all, even making him feel like Tang Rao has taken the initiative.
"Fine, since you put it that way, I won't beat around the bush. I called you here mainly for two things I want to discuss." Jiang Tiesheng sat down, fingers tapping on the stone table.
"What are you looking at me for, keep talking, what two things, really dragging it out." Tang Rao watched Jiang Tiesheng pause again, getting somewhat irritated.
Jiang Tiesheng: "..."
"First: last night's attack, tell me about it." Jiang Tiesheng took a deep breath and said, needing to inquire for the sake of his granddaughter's safety.
"The assassin was after me, your precious granddaughter just suffered because she was with me." Tang Rao stated.
The gang led by He Fei indeed targeted Jiang Langhuan and Jiang Langyue, but the gunman that followed was after Tang Rao.
So, overall, Jiang Langhuan was scared for nothing last night.
"Targeting you? Who did you provoke?" Jiang Tiesheng asked with a frown.
"That has nothing to do with you." Tang Rao waved his hand, "First matter is over, let's get to the second."
Jiang Tiesheng and Jiang Langhuan both looked speechless; why does it always feel like Tang Rao is being impatient?
Do we, the Jiang family... really deserve such disdain from you?
After all, we are also a major household in Tiandu!
"Alright, the second matter: Even though Langyue has made some mistakes, I still hope you can annul the engagement with Xiao Huan." Jiang Tiesheng's tone also hardened a lot, Tang Rao, you little rascal, I'm still your elder, showing no manners at all.
A person like you is not fit to be a son-in-law of the Jiang family.
Jiang Langhuan looked at Jiang Tiesheng somewhat surprised; she didn't expect that the second thing her grandfather would mention was this.
She had already agreed with Tang Rao; Tang Rao also promised that he would annul the engagement when appropriate.
Grandfather saying this now is like forcing the issue, which could very likely backfire.
Clearly, Jiang Langhuan guessed right; Tang Rao was now very upset.
"Name your condition, speak up. As long as the Jiang family can manage it, we will do our best to fulfill it." Jiang Tiesheng continued, his gaze even sharper.
"Fine!" Tang Rao squinted his eyes and nodded, "Since you've said that, I won't be polite. I only have one condition; if you can meet it, I can terminate the engagement in a minute, without even blinking an eye."
Seeing Tang Rao's demeanor, Jiang Langhuan subconsciously had a bad feeling.
"Speak."
"I suppose you also know that I asked Jiang Langyue to acquire two-hundred-year-old Wild Ginseng, I won't ask for much, just give me two hundred and eighty million two-hundred-year-old Old Ginseng roots, and we're done," Tang Rao snapped his fingers as he spoke.
"Scoundrel! You're deceiving me!" Jiang Tiesheng suddenly burst out, two hundred and eighty million two-hundred-year-old Old Ginseng roots, all the old ginseng ever added up might not amount to this much!
"Whoosh!" Just as Jiang Tiesheng's shout ended, a figure instantly charged forward, fingers clawing hard towards Tang Rao's shoulder.
Pang Yuan!
