Hua Mi's face was cold as she carefully sized up Captain Zhao,

"You're really something, aren't you? Can't I just comfort my own children when they're crying?"

"But we're about to die!"

Captain Zhao yelled at Hua Mi in panic,

"Your combat strength is so powerful, without you we simply can't hold on."

Hua Mi raised her hand and pushed Captain Zhao, who was blocking her way, to one side. She stepped into the vacuum zone,

"Who cares about you? I'm going to sooth my children now; for me, my children are the most important."

She thought she was already being kind by notifying the Qu Family and Captain Zhao.

Now, with her brother and sister crying, why should she care about the life and death of others?

She surely couldn't ignore her own children for the sake of others.

The group of people stood outside the shelter, slowly clearing an open space.

One of the teammates stood at the door, looking into the sinister atmosphere inside, and couldn't help feeling timid, unwilling to enter the shelter,

"You go ahead first."

One man was urging another.

The urged man glared fiercely at him, unwilling to move forward even a step,

And even backed away half a meter.

Captain Zhao stared fiercely at these cowardly people, then pulled a flashlight out of his backpack and shone it inside.

Everyone immediately got ready to fight.

Afraid that a lapse in attention would let a Mutant Beast run out from inside.

It was then that a cold female voice came from behind the crowd,

"There are only eggs inside; there are no Mutant Beasts left."

Everyone hastily turned around and saw Hua Mi, who had already comforted her children and was now standing behind them without anyone knowing when.

Captain Zhao frowned,

Hua Mi walked over with a long knife in hand, and the crowd instinctively parted to let her through. She stood directly at the shelter's entrance and flicked her hand inside.

They had just devoured a group of people and obtained enough nutrition to reproduce on human bones.

Mutant Beasts' genes were bizarre; no one could be certain what species would evolve from the next reproduction.

So upon finding Mutant Beasts' eggs, they had to be burned immediately.

Everyone saw Hua Mi pull out a lighter, ready to throw it and ignite the gasoline, when one of Captain Zhao's men immediately protested angrily,

"Are you crazy? There are a lot of supplies inside; if you burn it, won't our supplies be destroyed too?"

Hua Mi extinguished the lighter in her hand, stepped back two paces, and pointed to the dark doorway ahead,

"Then you go in and get the supplies. I can't guarantee that these eggs won't hatch while you're inside."

"It can't be that fast, can it? It hasn't been that long."

The one speaking was a former bodyguard of the Qu Family; he glared at Hua Mi with bloodshot eyes, as if looking at an enemy,

"We all escaped from E City Base, we've seen these types of Mutant Beast eggs hatch."

"It takes at least a few days for these eggs to hatch, and it hasn't even been half a day."

Hua Mi nodded,

"Yeah, it hasn't been half a day."

"But just in this half-day, most of you have died."

"You originally had around 100 people, right? How many are left now?"

Hua Mi pointed to the roughly twenty people present, among which were a few of Captain Zhao's men.

She lifted her thumb pointing inside,

"Why are Mutant Beasts called Mutant Beasts? It's because their genetics are highly unstable and can mutate at any moment."

"Maybe the Mutant Beasts you encountered at E City Base required days for their eggs to hatch, but this time, maybe it only takes a few minutes for these to hatch."

"Who can control genetic mutation? No one."

The Qu Family bodyguard sneered,

"Don't think you know so much. If you're so knowledgeable, why don't you go serve in Xiang City Base and show off your abilities?"
