The Rebirth of Harry Potter

Chapter 38: Chapter 37: The Boy’s Story

Twenty years ago.

At 19 Spinner's End, in a plain brick house, there lived a pale-skinned ten-year-old boy.

The environment was cold and bleak, but it was nothing compared to the darkness of the boy's childhood.

Because of his family.

Because of his bloodline.

His father was a drunk, hot-tempered, and had a violent nature. He frequently abused both the boy and his mother.

His father was a Muggle, while his mother was a descendant of a pure-blood family.

Domestic violence.

Crying.

Darkness.

These were the themes of his childhood.

A fragile heart tainted with shadows.

His personality became cold, withdrawn, insecure, and filled with bitterness.

He began to hide himself in the dark.

He developed a fascination with black…

And then, he met the demon of his life.

It was a bright and sunny afternoon when he first saw her—

The girl spinning and twirling with a radiant smile.

He remembered it clearly—

And he would never forget.

There was a massive tree, lush and green.

The little girl made the flowers bloom, their petals dancing around her.

And at that moment, he realized—

She was the same as him.

But he didn't dare go out.

He only hid in the grass, letting it conceal his pale face, silently watching her.

Because he was too shy.

Because he was too timid…

He spent days preparing himself.

And when the girl came back to swing on the tree's branches,

He finally stepped out from the tall grass.

No one would ever know how much courage it took for him at that moment.

How nervous he felt inside.

He wanted to get closer to the bright, smiling girl.

But he was afraid.

Afraid of getting hurt—

Like a moth flying into the flame.

Luckily, the girl did not run away because of his appearance.

But when her older sister found out he was a wizard,

She looked at him with fear and disgust,

Pulling her younger sister away, trying to escape from him.

Furious, the boy lashed out and called her a Mudblood.

Then, they left.

And the boy sat alone on the grass—devastated.

But to his joy and relief…

The girl came back.

They talked.

They played.

They laughed together.

And when she learned about his family,

She looked at him with those beautiful, gentle green eyes.

She comforted him.

He was captivated by those green eyes.

At the time, he didn't know what love was.

But from that moment on—

He loved the color green.

This was their little world.

A world where only the two of them existed.

They spent six months together.

Six months felt like an eternity.

Six months passed in the blink of an eye.

But those six months were the most beautiful memories of his entire life.

If his life was a dark abyss,

Then within that abyss, there was a small patch of blooming flowers—

A place where there stood a towering tree and a swaying swing.

There, beneath that tree, were two small figures lying side by side on the soft grass,

Smiling innocently,

Looking up at the endless blue sky…

He turned eleven.

He received his Hogwarts acceptance letter.

But he didn't want to go.

Even though he had always wanted to escape from his home.

Until he learned that—

She received a letter too.

Hand in hand, they jumped and danced with excitement.

Together, they entered Hogwarts.

But to his great disappointment—

He was sorted into Slytherin.

And she…

Into Gryffindor.

When he was sorted into Slytherin, he finally understood—

Slytherin had a terrible reputation.

No one wanted to be around Slytherin students.

But she didn't care.

She didn't care what others thought of her.

She still remained his friend.

Their friendship never faded.

The boy often wanted to tell her—

"You should stay away from me."

But he never said it.

Because if she really did leave…

He couldn't imagine what that would feel like.

She was brilliant, charming, and kind.

Her grades were outstanding in every subject.

Every professor adored her.

The boy had expected this all along.

Especially in Potions—

She won the professor's praise countless times, and Potions was her favorite subject.

But no one knew…

That the boy had a natural talent for Potions even greater than hers.

He never showed off, though.

Partly because of his quiet personality,

And partly because he didn't want to steal her spotlight.

By the time he was a first-year,

He had already mastered spells that seventh-year students struggled with.

At the same time, he had created several mischievous spells—

Spells that spread throughout the school,

Yet no one ever knew they were his creations.

Then…

The boy began to despise someone.

A boy named James Potter.

James was the school's golden boy.

They were complete opposites.

But that wasn't why he hated him.

He hated him because she had become his friend.

The boy warned her—

"He's an arrogant show-off."

And in return, she warned him—

"You should stay away from some of the people in Slytherin."

They argued…

But their bond remained unbroken.

Third Year

He saw her Patronus for the first time—

A graceful, noble silver doe.

Its brilliant light burned into his memory.

He fell in love with silver.

Because that was her color.

Fourth Year

Three years had passed.

They were now fourth-years.

And the boy hated James even more.

And not just him—

Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, Peter Pettigrew.

He wanted to uncover their secrets.

And then, Sirius tricked him.

Told him to go to the Shrieking Shack,

Said he had something to show him.

It was a full moon that night.

The boy went there—

And saw Lupin transform into a werewolf.

He barely escaped with his life.

And the one who saved him—

Was the person he hated most.

James Potter.

But that only made him angrier.

Fifth Year – The Breaking Point

They were fifth-years now.

The O.W.L.s were approaching.

And that was when James and his friends humiliated him in public.

He was suspended upside-down in the air—

Flailing helplessly.

The students laughed at his misery.

Mocked him.

Ridiculed him.

And then—

She appeared.

She saved him.

He hated James more than ever.

Because James hadn't just embarrassed him.

He had done it in front of the girl he loved.

As she tried to comfort him—

He was humiliated.

Angry.

Overcome with shame and rage—

And in that moment of fury,

He spat out the words—

"Mudblood."

And just like that…

They were no longer friends.

Regret and Despair

Fear.

Regret.

How could he have said that?

It was too late to apologize.

He had hurt her too deeply.

They drifted further and further apart.

He began to admire Voldemort.

He joined the Death Eater apprentice group.

Seventh Year – The Point of No Return

At eighteen years old, he graduated.

And that same year—

He officially became a Death Eater.

At twenty years old, he returned to Hogwarts seeking a job.

And that was when he overheard a prophecy spoken by Sybill Trelawney.

He reported it to Voldemort.

But he never expected…

That the woman in the prophecy would be the one he loved most.

The boy fell to his knees before Voldemort, begging for her life.

Voldemort refused.

Dumbledore's Office

The boy pleaded with the wise old man—

"Save her. Please, save her."

And the old man asked:

"What will you do for me?"

"Anything."

He didn't hesitate for a second.

But it wasn't enough.

It couldn't save her.

When he learned that she had died,

He broke down in tears, devastated, heartbroken—

"I would rather it had been me…"

For the rest of his life,

He would be consumed by guilt and self-loathing,

Trapped in a prison of his own regret.

Because in the end—

He was the one who caused her death.

A Life of Silent Devotion

When the old man asked him to protect the woman's child,

He agreed.

Not for the boy.

Not for Dumbledore.

But because the boy had her eyes.

Those beautiful, gentle green eyes.

And so, he disappeared into the shadows.

Bearing all the hatred, all the blame,

The lonely guardian of a love that would never fade.

Until the very end.

Until forever.

This is the story of a boy.

This is the story of a man.

The boy's name was Severus Snape.

The girl's name was Lily Evans.

Luo Bei's Notes: The Real Protagonist

Who did J.K. Rowling put the most effort into writing?

Harry? A side character in his own story.

Dumbledore? Get lost.

Voldemort? Eat dirt.

The true heart of Harry Potter is Severus Snape.

A man who played the villain for six years—

And in one moment, became an angel.

For the woman he loved, he betrayed Voldemort.

He became a double agent.

He silently protected Harry from the shadows.

He sacrificed everything, and no one ever knew.

Yet he never regretted a thing.

Most people only remember Snape as:

"He was actually a good guy."

"He was protecting Harry all along."

And that's it.

But they don't know the full story.

Everything I wrote here is real.

✔ He was born in 1960 and died at 38.

✔ He met Lily when he was 10.

✔ The swing was real.

✔ The tree was real.

✔ Lily making flowers bloom with magic was real.

✔ He hid in the grass and watched Lily for days.

✔ His Potions talent far exceeded Lily's.

✔ He mastered all spells by his first year (Sirius confirmed this).

✔ His favorite color was real.

I double-checked everything.

Scoured forums, wikis, archives…

I thought this chapter would be the easiest.

Turns out, it was the hardest.

And even then—

There are still so many details I couldn't include.

I wanted to write more—

To cover his entire life, his silent suffering, his greatest sacrifices.

But I decided to stop at Harry's birth.

I need bookmarks. I need recommendations.

O(∩_∩)O Thank you.
