The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases

Chapter 122: On the Dragon's Back

While Dragon Mother was deep in slumber, David, having settled the potential chaos from berserking Barbarians due to the War God's madness, found no major issues remaining on the Old Continent. After explaining matters to the Green Dragon Nifadora, he set off with a stoic face, taking half of his family.

This time, David, mindful of the troubles from their last trip, had Drow Hiatt and her new subordinate, Alianna, set sail early from the port with a ship full of freed High Elf prisoners of war. He himself, using "Jealousy" to transform once again into a Silver Dragon, flew west towards the New Continent with his Silver Dragon father and sister Tania, gliding like albatrosses. They were like a happy Silver Dragon family traveling from Dragon Island to Dewensen.

With the "Portable Cave," physical exhaustion and supply needs during the journey were no longer concerns. They wouldn't even need to descend to the sea midway. They could fly, eat, and... well, you know, all at the same time. As long as the "Portable Cave" around their necks was full of food, they were practically on autopilot.

Tania, being a girl, naturally couldn't relieve herself in front of two male dragons, even if they were her father and brother. Now eight years old, and having inadvertently learned certain things from the Dragon heritage stimulated by her brother David, she knew to maintain propriety.

However, Attilicia couldn't rest assured letting Tania go off alone. What if a storm blew in and they got separated? So, regardless of David or Tania's agreement, he insisted that David, her brother of the same age, accompany her.

The result was that Tania, that defiant dragon, stubbornly held it in for a week. Unsurprisingly, just as they neared the airspace over Dewensen on the New Continent, she became constipated.

David was thoroughly impressed and planned to ask their Silver Dragon father to concoct an Alchemy Potion to ease Tania's digestion. He knew Tania would rather suffer to death than speak up about it.

Why bring Tania along at all?

Without Dragon Mother's restraint, Tania had become a clingy shadow. David couldn't refuse her persistent pleas, especially since Attilicia, a first-time father, was a soft touch and completely unable to resist such an offensive of cuteness and temptation. The sight of his daughter's tears made him surrender immediately.

Because of this, David had nearly argued with his father before they left,

"I'm at my wit's end with you! Do you really think we're going to Dewensen for a vacation? We're going to smuggle potions! What if Tania finds out? What if our activities are exposed and we clash with the High Elves?"

Attilicia, stumped by David's questions, finally said something David couldn't refute,

"Could you really bear to leave your sister alone in a camp full of Chromatic Dragons?"

"..." David was speechless.

It wasn't that he worried about his sister being bullied by the camp's Chromatic Dragons, who were hardly a threat. Having already awakened her innate magical abilities at her young age, it would be a blessing if *she* didn't bully *them*.

But unlike him, a Red Dragon, Silver Dragons had strong social needs. Especially before adolescence, they required the companionship of elders or siblings for healthy physical and mental development. In this regard, none of the three—from Dragon Mother and Dragon Father down to him, the brother solely focused on making money—were qualified 'Silver Dragon parents.'

Previously, Dragon Mother had at least been there to accompany her. With both of them gone, Tania might genuinely develop problems from loneliness. Letting her mix with Nifadora and the other Chromatic Dragons didn't feel right, especially to Attilicia, who was extremely uneasy about it as her father. His feelings were akin to parents on Blue Star fearing their well-behaved, academically gifted child would be corrupted by mischievous, 'dirty' kids. Yet, due to his own psychological hang-ups, he conveniently ignored the fact that his own spouse was the leader of the largest evil faction on the entire Old Continent of Skanis.

Seeing David tacitly agree with his concerns, Attilicia adopted a grave and earnest expression,

"Let's go and assess the situation first. If it really doesn't work out, I'd rather delay for a year, concoct some other high-level potions, and spend time with Tania."

This indecisiveness left David fuming. Beside himself with "Wrath," he desperately wanted to grab his father's ear-frills and roar,

A year! How many years do you even have?

Mom's going to sleep for at least ten years! If we take a break this year, what about next year?

Do you still want your freedom?

Do you still want to stand tall before Mom?

What about the promise to have Mom grovel on a pile of treasure and perform the Conquest Dance for us father and son?

But David knew that with his father's 'timid' personality, if he dared to shout such disrespectful words, his father would burst into tears on the spot. Then other dragons might misunderstand and think he had done something terrible to his father.

Most importantly, both of them knew, deep down, that even if they were exposed, revealing Tania's identity as a young Silver Dragon would ensure her safety. But Attilicia, with his Silver Dragon moral fastidiousness, instinctively shied away from exploiting this unwritten rule for personal gain. Doing so would undoubtedly tarnish Dragon Island's reputation.

Later, after an unusually patient round of negotiations initiated by David, father and son reached a resolution: once they settled in the New Continent of Dewensen, they would ensure at least one of them could stay by Tania's side as much as possible. If necessary, they would find a way to enroll Tania in the Dewensen Magic Academy.

After all, both father and son could make the "Anger Potion", though there might be a tiny quality difference in their products. To justify a higher selling price, David wouldn't be vain about this professional aspect. The original plan stood: Silver Dragon Dad would be responsible for production, while David and his retainers handled everything else.

「A week later」

Perhaps due to a storm they encountered en route, their Silver Dragon family arrived at the Port of Dewensen even before Hiatt's group, who had departed a week earlier.

Unlike the previous port, which was closer to Saeolus City, this port, adjacent to the capital city of Dewensen, was unparalleled in scale and prosperity across the entire New Continent of Granyel. The city's buildings were constructed from white marble that shimmered in the sunlight. At its center stood a grand palace surrounded by exquisite gardens and fountains. That was the residence of the Elf King Ailiando, a place Attilicia often visited to earn extra money using "Control Celestials." The entire port area was bustling yet orderly, filled with all sorts of ships.

When David and his family of three Silver Dragons flew over the port undisguised, it caused a stir of exclamations but not widespread panic. Even the sentinels who had instinctively drawn their bows were quickly stopped by their comrades. After all, Silver Dragons from Dragon Island were frequent visitors to Dewensen. Though proud, they were generally considered peaceable, unlike the dangerous and violent Chromatic Dragons. Most of them, however, chose to arrive by ship, disguised as High Elves; appearing so openly in their true forms was quite rare.

However, not being considered dangerous didn't mean they were truly welcomed by the High Elves, especially given such an arrogant act of sweeping over their leaders without any prior greeting. The act immediately invoked the displeasure of the veteran soldiers,

"Mothersucker! When can the airspace treaty be amended? Letting these silver lizards swagger about high in the sky every day—isn't it a disgrace to us Elves?"

"Exactly! It's outrageous."

The Elf captain listened with a smile, saying nothing and making no move to stop the complaints. Although the High Elves had officially signed a peace treaty with the Gold and Silver Dragons of Dragon Island, the enmity between Elves and Dragons had roots buried deep in the Toriel Plane long ago. There were even past incidents where Druids flying to Dragon Island had been shot down. However, given Dragon Island's power, the Elves had swallowed their grievances. Even without this history, it would be strange if two such supremely proud species could see eye to eye.

「Shortly thereafter」

In the forests outside the city, David, looking thoroughly displeased, was carrying a pair of silver-haired High Elf 'mother and daughter' along the main road toward the Dewensen city gates. This bizarre combination, especially the striking appearance of the white-haired 'mother and daughter' riding the Silver Dragon, instantly drew the attention and gasps of numerous High Elves.

Only David, 'reduced to a mount,' snorted unhappily and said,

"Dad, shouldn't you be the one carrying Tania and me?"

Attilicia, currently appearing as a young elven maiden and embracing Tania—who looked about with equal curiosity and excitement, much like a sister—lifted his delicate, fair chin and replied with a smile,

"Then you should first awaken to magic like your sister Tania and learn "Shape Manipulation". Your dad will lie down immediately for you to ride without another word."

"I..." David was on the verge of spitting blood.
