The Red Dragon Just Wants To Do As It Pleases

Chapter 125: Daydreaming

Attilicia ultimately couldn't resist the temptation from his red dragon son, David.

In this matter, he slightly exercised his private authority as the envoy to Granyel.

That night, the young silver dragon took out a 'visa form' from the almost vacant demiplane in his palm, already filled with an approval date and stamped with a claw-print. Under David's somewhat world-altering gaze, he skillfully completed the application in one go, listing 'Antonella' as the primary dragon name. In the children's section, he directly wrote David Uthos and Tania using their real names.

David could clearly see what his silver dragon father was scheming.

It was simply a fear that if misfortune struck and their secret was exposed, he could take all the blame. Tania, still a young silver dragon, would then continue to receive Dragon Island's protection.

As for David, a red dragon in a silver dragon's skin, he could just go back to wherever he came from. Besides, Pafila, that Evil Dragon, was watching out for him.

In Attilicia's view, no matter how perfect David's disguise was—even if it could fool his own eyes—it definitely wouldn't deceive the scrutiny from Dragon Island.

If Attilicia hadn't been his adoptive father, David would have really felt like cursing him for playing the whore while erecting a monument to his chastity.

"COUGH, COUGH. This is all for procedural convenience," Attilicia said, immediately trying to cover his tracks. He could clearly see the contempt in his son's eyes and had earned quite a few gratuities this way before.

After all, in any world or society, personal connections and special needs are common, and dragons are no exception.

But with this 'convenient' visa form, they would officially be legal immigrants from Dragon Island.

Once this document was submitted to the Dewensen Municipal Bureau, they would, on paper, receive dual protection from both Dewensen and Dragon Island.

This visa form was also one of the crucial documents Attilicia would need for him and Tania to later infiltrate Dewensen Magic Academy.

As for why the visa date was two years early? Well, dragons might suddenly feel sleepy before or during a trip. Napping for a few years is quite normal for them, and they certainly couldn't be expected to fly all the way back to the distant Dragon Island just for that, could they?

The auditors at the Dewensen Municipal Bureau generally turned a blind eye to such things.

After all, while the dragons responsible for these matters on Dragon Island had always been arrogant and slothful, no serious incidents had occurred there for many years. Verifying such details was troublesome, so over time, it had all become a mere formality.

Of course, such a system had clear drawbacks: if something went wrong, it wouldn't hold up under scrutiny. Most critically, it wouldn't withstand an investigation from Dragon Island.

To some extent, Attilicia was determined to repay his debt this time, even if it meant risking his reputation. If the truth came out, it would mean utter ruin and disgrace.

Of course, in David's view, when Dragon Mother had... her way with his silver dragon father ten years ago, he had already suffered utter disgrace and social death once.

As Attilicia carefully sealed the visibly aged visa form in an envelope and was about to light the spirit lamp, he glanced at his son David, who now looked every bit a silver dragon. A sudden impulse moved him. He raised the piece of rosin sealing wax in his hand and asked, "May I borrow a light?"

David puffed his cheeks slightly and, like a draconic lighter, blew out a jet of flame, instantly melting the rosin sealing wax in the bronze pan.

With a light SIZZLE as the wax sealed the envelope, it sounded like a sigh from his silver dragon father's heart.

Alas, his son is, after all, a red dragon through and through.

Even if he doesn't know how he managed to disguise himself so convincingly as a silver dragon.

Seeing his father's troubled expression, David felt inexplicably annoyed.

That feeling was probably similar to how children on Blue Star felt when their parents showed favoritism towards sons over daughters.

Damn it, it's just a slightly different color, isn't it? Mom didn't cheat on you!

He immediately lifted the water cup in front of him with his tail tip and presented it to Attilicia. "Add some ice."

His silver dragon father thought David just wanted a cold drink. He gently exhaled a misty breath towards the water cup, and ice shards visibly began to form in the water.

Very good.

Without a second glance, David chewed and swallowed the cup along with the icy water. He then let out an even colder belch, which sprayed a frosty mask onto his father's face. "How about that? Surprising, isn't it?"

Attilicia was initially confused and somewhat angry at this 'childish prank.' Then, shock registered. He cupped David's head in his hands and asked incredulously, "You can use [Frost Breath] too? When did you awaken it?"

To Attilicia, this was, in some ways, even more important than making money, paying off debts, or winning over Dragon Mother.

"Just now," David said, telling a 'huge truth,' then picked up the sealed visa document and examined it curiously.

"There's never a word of truth from your mouth," Attilicia said irritably. Then, his body trembled. He scrutinized David intensely several times, even going so far as to cast a sixth-circle [Reveal Truth] spell. His body trembled again. "How... how is this possible?"

Now, no matter how he examined him with his Eye of Truth, David was undoubtedly a genuine silver dragon, not a red dragon...

"Dad? What's wrong?" David's tail swayed in front of Attilicia.

"Give it to me!"

Attilicia, who had been in a daze, suddenly seemed to have an epiphany. He lunged at David, attempting to snatch the visa document.

But David possessed dynamic vision and reflexes far surpassing those of High Elves; how could he let his father succeed? With a quick lean back, David evaded his father's grasp.

Agitated, Attilicia was on the verge of using [Shape Control] to revert to his true form and snatch it. Fortunately, as a silver dragon, his reason was still intact, and he feared he might demolish the mansion if he transformed.

"Give it back! I'm not doing this anymore..."

"What's wrong with you? Why are you suddenly throwing a tantrum for no reason?" David simply couldn't understand. Why had his father's attitude changed so drastically just because he'd demonstrated [Frost Breath]?

Then he heard his silver dragon father, who was practically lying on top of him, speak his true thoughts. Attilicia's laugh was a complex, contradictory mix of emotions, and his eyes were bloodshot as he said, "Since you can use [Frost Breath], that means you're a genuine silver dragon! So why are we going through all this trouble? I... you... we can take Tania and go back to live on Dragon Island!"

After saying this, Attilicia began to run his hands through his silver hair, rambling incoherently, "Yes! I should've realized this sooner! Good boy, son, give me the visa. We'll leave for Dragon Island tonight!"

But just as he managed to grab his son's sturdy forearm, he found he couldn't budge him at all.

David stared at him with an incredulous expression, as if watching a clown. This made Attilicia tremble violently, and panic flickered in his eyes as he asked, "What's... what's the matter?"

He feared his son might say something like he'd read in those romantic bardic tales: 'Have you ever asked for my opinion?'

If David said that, his heart would break!

Wasn't he doing all this for their family?!

Then he heard David ask, his voice laced with utter mockery, "Dad... you're not thinking of skipping out on Mom's debt, are you? Are you daydreaming or what?"

Attilicia's defenses crumbled at David's words. Recalling everything he had endured over the past ten years, his eyes reddened. Not only was his heart in pieces, but his dignity lay shattered. Furious, he started to thrash about in David's arms, desperately trying to snatch the document away, yelling, "I don't care! Give it back! I regret this, I..."

CREAK... The upstairs door opened. The stunned father and son both looked up simultaneously.

They saw Tania, her silver hair disheveled and eyes heavy with sleep, languidly leaning on the banister. She looked down at the scuffling father and son with a mixture of confusion and annoyance, asking, "Dad... Brother David, what are you two doing making such a racket in the middle of the night? Are you trying to keep a dragon from sleeping? It took me ages to finally drift off, you know!"

The father and son were completely caught off guard. David, however, reacted quickly and hurriedly explained, "Ah... um, we were... COUGH, COUGH... you see, I've put on a bit of weight from eating so well lately, and Dad is helping me with sit-ups to slim down."

"That's right, that's right! We're just exercising and getting in shape," Attilicia, who was straddling David's waist, chimed in, his face flushed from their earlier struggle.

"Oh... well, keep it down a bit, will you? You're making so much noise it sounds like an earthquake. I was just dreaming Mom made the Katjana Volcano erupt again. I don't mind, but if the neighbors can't figure out what's going on, they might call the Public Order Officer to check things out."

The silver dragon father and son were speechless.
