Chapter 14: The Hunger
Emma's body began to change in ways she couldn't understand. She felt a growing hunger, a craving for something she couldn't quite identify.
As she walked through the city streets, Emma felt a sense of disconnection. People passed by her, but she felt like she was watching them from outside her body.
She tried to eat, but food tasted bland and unsatisfying. Her hunger grew, until she felt like she was starving.
One night, Emma found herself standing in front of a local butcher shop. She felt drawn to the raw meat on display, and her hunger surged.
Without thinking, Emma pushed open the door and stepped inside. The butcher looked up, startled, as Emma's eyes locked onto the meat.
"Welcome to my shop," the butcher said, his voice wary.
Emma didn't respond. She simply reached out and grabbed a raw steak, tearing into it with her teeth.
As she ate, Emma felt a sense of satisfaction wash over her. Her hunger was finally sated.
But as she looked down at her hands, Emma saw that they were covered in blood. She felt a wave of horror wash over her.
What was she becoming?
