The richest actor in Hollywood.

Chapter 453: Chapter 453: Ultra-High Standards

As the sun dipped into the ocean, the entrance to the Wings of Angels club in the affluent area of Santa Monica by the sea was already lit up brightly as day. The red carpet stretched out a full hundred feet under the lights. Temporary barriers lined the red carpet, with black-suited staff standing every twenty feet to maintain order.

Tonight, there were an overwhelming number of reporters. Excluding those from top-tier media outlets with access to the charity auction, there were hundreds of journalists gathered along the sides of the red carpet.

A bald Black cameraman filmed the club entrance while a White photographer next to him nudged him, saying, "Look, guests are arriving!"

The bald Black cameraman immediately turned his camera toward the front of the red carpet. A black Mercedes had come to a steady stop at the carpet's edge. Someone promptly opened the door, and Johnny Depp, wearing glasses, was the first to step out. He then helped a seven or eight-year-old girl out of the car, and they walked the red carpet together.

"I win, Max," the bald Black man chuckled, "The first one here is Johnny Depp!"

The reporter named Max smacked his forehead, saying, "Damn, I should've guessed it was Depp!"

The bald cameraman focused on the little girl Depp was holding and gave her a close-up, asking, "Is this Depp's daughter?"

"Yes, that's Lily Depp," Max confirmed as he photographed the girl. "Rumor has it she's Matthew Horner's goddaughter."

As they passed, another Mercedes pulled up to the red carpet, this time delivering two stylish men, one tall and one short.

"Who are they?" the bald Black man asked curiously.

"Two relatively unknown actors, James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender," Max replied, clearly familiar with Matthew's social circle. "I told you about Matthew Horner's close friends."

Upon hearing that they were not famous, the bald Black man lost interest in filming.

The next car brought a black-haired, blue-eyed girl. The bald cameraman immediately zoomed in on her ample chest, which was strikingly prominent.

"Who's she?" he asked.

"Alexandra Daddario, a small-time actress from the same agency as Matthew Horner," Max replied as he took pictures.

As the dark-haired, blue-eyed actress walked away, the bald cameraman refocused on the front of the red carpet, where another car had just arrived. A somewhat thin actor got out, prompting the cameraman to exclaim, "I know him, Ben Foster! He played Angel in last month's 'X-Men: The Last Stand'."

"Impressive," Max praised the bald cameraman.

"Strange," the bald cameraman muttered, "Aside from Johnny Depp, all the arrivals have been relatively unknown actors. Could it be that tonight's attendees are all of this caliber?"

Max said nothing because another unfamiliar face was now approaching, and even he couldn't recognize the person.

Aside from Johnny Depp, all the arrivals were nobodies, making the red carpet unusually quiet and orderly. There wasn't the typical chaotic scene when the media gathered.

Most journalists, like the bald cameraman and Max, were perfunctorily taking photos.

The bald cameraman even turned off his camera temporarily, deeming these small-time figures not worth the battery and storage space.

Seeing another unfamiliar face approaching, he couldn't help but ask Max, "Is Matthew Horner relying on just Depp to hold down the fort?"

Max shrugged, "Who knows."

He knew Matthew Horner had sent out many invitations, but who would actually attend was uncertain.

The bald cameraman shook his head, "Without enough big names and celebrities, the party's tone will drop several notches."

Max didn't comment but also put away his camera since the recent arrivals were of no interest.

Did most of Matthew Horner's invitees decline, forcing him to find fillers?

Despite such thoughts, Max had no intention of leaving. Who knew if a big name might show up later?

"This is boring," the bald cameraman grumbled, "This party is dead so far, probably..."

Before he could finish, a thunderous cheer erupted from the few Matthew Horner fans gathered at the red carpet's edge, as if Matthew Horner himself had appeared.

Due to the distance, the bald cameraman couldn't see who was inside the newly arrived Mercedes, but through the car window, he vaguely made out a long-haired woman.

"Who is that?" the bald cameraman wondered, "Could it be Keira Knightley? Probably one of the 'Pirates of the Caribbean' leads for support."

A security guard opened the car door, and a sweet yet sexy woman stepped out and took her first step onto the red carpet.

The bald cameraman and Max both froze, as did all the other reporters for a moment.

It seemed no one could believe this pop music queen would show up here!

"How is this possible? Didn't they break up years ago?" the bald cameraman mumbled, "Why is Britney Spears here?"

Max, with his sharp instincts and connections in the entertainment industry, quickly speculated, "Could Britney still be seeing Matthew Horner privately?"

The bald cameraman shook his head, reminding, "Impossible. Remember, just a few days ago, there were photos in the papers of Matthew Horner and Adriana Lima vacationing in Rio de Janeiro."

"Hurry, Britney's coming over!" Max nudged the bald cameraman. "Start filming!"

Caught off guard by surprise, the bald cameraman fumbled to turn his camera back on, adjusting the lens to focus on Britney. As he filmed, he muttered, "That Matthew Horner is enviable, always hooking up with big stars!"

Max nodded, "With Britney here, this party will definitely be a hot topic tomorrow! Britney, in the pop music world, is no less than Madonna! Her attending her ex-boyfriend's event will cause a sensation."

Even the somewhat dimwitted bald cameraman knew that Matthew Horner and Britney Spears were a media explosion waiting to happen.

As he filmed Britney's captivating figure, another round of cheers erupted at the front of the red carpet, signaling another notable arrival. The bald cameraman quickly shifted his focus.

Tall and exuding an aura of confidence, Charlize Theron had just stepped out of a car.

"Dear Lord..." the bald cameraman crossed himself with one hand, "First a pop queen ex-girlfriend, now an Oscar-winning ex-fiancée. Is Matthew Horner trying to drive people mad with jealousy?"

The surrounding journalists were almost frantic, their cameras clicking away as they mentally composed their sensational articles.

Charlize Theron, with her usual stern expression, strode forward. She could faintly see Britney Spears ahead. Originally, her arrival time was scheduled a bit later, but she had left early, almost bumping into Matthew's ex-girlfriend.

She wasn't embarrassed, though; running into exes in Hollywood was commonplace.

Besides, her engagement to Matthew had only been a sham.

With Britney and Charlize Theron's appearances, the bald cameraman had no time to ponder further. Each subsequent arrival was a big name.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer came alone, renowned director Gore Verbinski arrived with his wife, English rose Keira Knightley's chest was still as flat as ever, Scarlett Johansson's low-cut dress accentuated her ample bust, David and Megan Ellison arrived in high-profile fashion like Larry Ellison, Keanu Reeves was as unkempt as ever, and the North American directors of Mercedes-Benz and Rolex followed in quick succession...

Then, some low-key individuals with UN badges hurried into the club.

"See that Latin guy in the middle?" Max pointed out a key figure to the bald cameraman. "That's the new UNHCR commissioner!"

The bald cameraman raised his eyebrows, "The UNHCR's top official is here? This event's level just went up again..."

Before he finished, a nearby journalist shouted, "Quick, film the front of the red carpet, Leonardo's here!"

"What?" The bald cameraman couldn't believe his ears, though he instinctively turned his camera. "Leonardo DiCaprio? I didn't hear he was close with Matthew Horner."

But he soon saw Leonardo DiCaprio's handsome face.

The surprises continued as Tom Cruise arrived after a representative from the American Philanthropic Association.

Seeing Tom Cruise smiling and waving, the bald cameraman remarked while filming, "Matthew Horner actually got so many big names?"

This was far beyond his expectations.

But the surprises weren't over. A Mercedes soon brought Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg to the red carpet.

Then, Oprah, Ridley Scott, and more followed.

This charity event was turning into an Oscars ceremony.

The bald cameraman could only say to Max, "When we were sneaking photos of Matthew Horner and Keira Knightley on the beach, did we ever imagine he'd reach this level?"

Max shook his head firmly, "No."

As the red carpet was about to end, a Cadillac arrived, bringing the maverick director Quentin Tarantino and his friend Harvey Weinstein.
