Chapter 81: Trapped Space
With the sun on his back, Arthur held an ink pen in one hand and a blank piece of parchment in the other.
"Dear Guild, I'd like to inquire about a possible missing person… Angelica Mercie…"
Arthur began to write down all the details he knew about the missing person, last seen in the steam locomotive heading to Gehram.
While he didn't think this was going to be of any importance to the Guild, he planned to make it into a quest for those willing to investigate the disappearance.
He put a tempting enough reward on the table to attract eyes and then folded the parchment paper before slipping it into an envelope.
With a seal of his own, he stamped the envelope closed.
He was going to send this to Gehram's branch of the Guild, as that was the most likely place that Miss Angelica could be in.
"Take this to the post office, please."
Arthur handed the envelope to the creaking robot in front of him and told it to deliver it immediately without any delay.
"Whew…"
As the robot left his office, Arthur stored the ink pen, the bottle of ink, and the stack of papers back in his desk drawer.
In that moment, like a sudden lightning strike, Arthur saw the bright sunlight behind him disappear as if blocked by a cloud.
It wasn't new to him, as there were often clouds hovering over the Dark Jewel's Corner, and sometimes it was bright because of the sun, but sometimes darker because clouds blocked the sun.
However, as he turned around to the window, his eyes widened in shock as he watched a purple glass dome fall over the school.
"W-What…"
With a disbelief flashing across his eyes, he jumped to his feet, knocking down the chair in the process, and he walked to the window.
There, he was able to see the Background Forest, and from there, black sword-wielding figures were walking.
Fear, dread, and despair came at Arthur all at once.
"No… Please… no…"
…
In the classroom, the purple light suddenly filtered through the open windows, and the students saw as the glass dome cascaded over the school.
They had never seen anything like this before.
"Wow!"
"What is this?"
"…Hmm?"
The teacher walked to the window with a pointer stick in hand, and as he saw the purple glass dome, he accidentally snapped the pointer stick in half.
"…Trapped Space."
He whispered to himself with fear coming over him like a tidal wave.
If he hadn't taken a piss before the class, he would already be pissing his pants to make a yellow puddle underneath him.
This purple glass dome he had seen and heard of before. It was something that the Rav'akari were in possession of, only.
Thus, if it was only in the possession of Rav'akari, and the purple glass dome happened to come here… It meant only one thing.
Slam!
Frightening the students, the door swung open with a loud slam, and they all saw panting Arthur standing in the doorway.
"Everyone, come with me. We have to go now."
Arthur said with urgency.
"Is everything alright, headmaster?"
Sage Everett stood up with a serious look on her beautiful face, and she immediately saw the fear in Arthur's and the teacher's faces.
It didn't go unnoticed by her.
Watching from the window, Finn's eyes slowly widened as he saw a couple of pale-skinned people circling the student with the black swords in hand.
"A-Ah… RAV'AKARI!"
"What?!"
"The fuck did you say?"
Everyone ran to the window, and they looked down to see Rav'akari in flesh—they also saw them—and they creepily smiled before waving.
It was as if they were saying, "See you soon," with a twisted grin on their faces.
"No!"
Esme screamed and covered her mouth in shock.
Why were they here? Was everyone's question.
They never came to the big cities, and towns—never—as they would never be left unnoticed, and the Guild would send their best trackers after them.
"Hell no!"
The teacher ran out of the classroom, leaving everyone behind, and at this point, it was every man for himself!
"We need to hide. Come on!"
Arthur said, and the students screamed while running out of the classroom in a panicked frenzy—they thought about sticking together—but as soon as a few started running in different directions, others followed suit, and it was everyone for themselves!
"…"
Kael slowly walked out of the classroom with paleness in his face—this whole thing startled him as well—and he knew how wicked Rav'akari could be.
If they got their hands on any student, it was obvious that their suffering would be unthinkable, and Kael felt sick just thinking about it.
"Y-You should run away as well, Kael!"
Arthur said before his voice trailed off as he broke into a run.
"Hey, wait!"
Kael shouted, but everyone was already gone, and his lips curled downwards.
'…Escaping to the Realm Between is the only thing that could save us now. However, I'd need to get everyone there, but everyone has already gone into hiding, and my room is on the other side of the mansion.
'I don't know how I am supposed to get everyone there without Rav'akari noticing us… Shit, it isn't possible. I'd just get myself killed!'
…
Bang!
Kael bolted into his room, closed the door tightly, and then clapped his hands together before walking square.
He was going to get the hell out of here!
However, Ivy also knew the ritual behind the Realm Between, so he hoped that she would help others to get out.
While he wished that he could save others, he really didn't think it was possible, as fear took over everyone, and everyone had gone into hiding.
He would have to play an extreme version of hide-and-seek to somehow find everyone before Rav'akari entered the mansion.
And the worst thing was that they most likely had already entered!
"Realm Between~ Realm Between~ Realm Between~"
With the conclusion of the ritual, Kael closed his eyes and expected the mist to take over him once more, transporting him to the Realm Between.
However, after a few seconds of waiting, nothing happened, and his eyes fluttered open.
"…It didn't work? Why?"
Kael's face turned a shade paler; he opened the curtains and looked at the purple glass dome with a look of dread.
"…That teacher called this Trapped Space. Could it be that it is also blocking the way to the Realm Between?
"What shitty luck…"
