The Sekirei’s Covenant

Chapter 537: 99. Yuri’s Request

"Yuri, these are some gifts for your parents."

"Ahem, this is for you. Don't be shy."

Handing the two gift boxes prepared by Erica and the bouquet of flowers he bought to Yuri, Sora looked slightly embarrassed.

"Th-thank you!"

It seemed that Yuri rarely received gifts, as a faint blush appeared on her face, and she looked a bit flustered. But undoubtedly, she was extremely happy and delighted inside.

"Onii-sama, Onii-sama, what about me? Where's my gift?"

Seeing that only her father, mother, and sister received gifts, the little sister-in-law immediately became anxious, grabbing Sora's clothes and asking urgently.

Rubbing his nose, Sora felt a bit embarrassed, thinking to himself that he didn't know about the existence of this sister-in-law before, so he didn't prepare anything for her!

Of course, Sora couldn't say that out loud. Sister-in-laws were meant to be pleased, and he couldn't afford to offend her.

"Hikari!!!"

The considerate Yuri noticed Sora's dilemma and immediately became somewhat angry, shouting at Hikari.

Shaking his head at Yuri, Sora gently patted the young girl's head and spoke with a smile:

"So, you're Hikari, right? Nice to meet you. Please take care of me."

"What kind of gift would you like? Just tell me, and I can fulfill your wish today!"

Although he appeared generous and straightforward on the surface, Sora was secretly praying in his heart: Little sister-in-law, please don't ask me to pluck the stars or scoop the moon or anything like that!

"Hmm… anything is fine?"

Her eyes lit up, and the girl, who had the same coffee-colored eyes as Yuri, began to ponder with a thoughtful expression.

"Hehe, Onii-sama, I want a ring! The kind you gave to my sister!"

"I secretly saw it, right? It's some kind of high-level magical artifact, isn't it? So amazing!"

Finally deciding on what she wanted, the girl tugged at Sora's clothes with an expectant look.

The ring Hikari mentioned was naturally the spatial ring Sora had given to Yuri. It must be said that this little girl had a good eye for valuable things.

Ever since the seal in his mind cracked slightly during the battle with Voban, Sora discovered that he could use some of the functions of the King's Sword, such as merging the sword into his body and storing items in the sword's internal space. The ring he gave to Yuri was one of those items.

"Hikari, if you keep this up, I'm really going to get angry! How can you ask Sora for something so precious?!"

This time, Yuri was truly upset. She knew how valuable the ring Sora had given her was. Hikari was being too unreasonable to ask for something so precious!

"Wah… Onee-sama…"

Scolded by Yuri, the girl immediately teared up, looking extremely pitiful.

"Alright, Yuri, don't blame Hikari. Although the ring is precious, if it can make my little sister-in-law happy, I'm more than willing to give it to her!"

Speaking in a joking tone, Sora took out a coffee-colored ring from the space within the King's Sword and handed it to the girl.

He secretly breathed a sigh of relief. The King's Sword didn't have much else, but it had plenty of rings—so many that Sora couldn't even count them all. According to the memories that had temporarily resurfaced, it seemed these rings were meant to be given to his women.

He couldn't help but feel a bit embarrassed. What a scoundrel! How many women does that guy plan to collect?

Well, Sora knew that the scoundrel was actually himself…

"Onii-sama is the best!!!"

"Hmph, Onee-sama is so stingy!"

Overjoyed, the girl took the ring and hugged Sora, rubbing against him while sticking out a playful tongue at her sister, Yuri, nearly driving Yuri mad.

However, Yuri was deeply moved. She knew that everything Sora did was for her sake.

"Hikari, this ring is very precious. Don't lose it."

"Sora, my father and mother are still at work and haven't returned yet. Why don't you come inside and sit for a while?"

After giving Hikari a reminder, Yuri led Sora toward the house behind the shrine.

Nodding, Sora followed. Meanwhile, Hikari, happily admiring her new ring, clung to Sora's sleeve as she followed them.

The main purpose of this visit was to meet his future in-laws, whom he had never met before. Naturally, Sora needed to learn a bit about them beforehand. With Yuri's blushing introduction, Sora gained a general understanding of them.

Yuri's parents both had their own jobs. Her father worked at a fast-food chain owned by her grandfather, while her mother was an instructor at a cooking school. Although slightly surprised, Sora quickly accepted this.

Although the family had a lineage of miko, not every generation produced outstanding ones. Yuri's mother had some miko abilities, but they were too weak for her to work as a spiritualist.

In Yuri's generation, it could be said that they were in a golden age. Both sisters were high-ranking mikos, which was extremely rare!

Moreover, although Yuri's spiritual sight was relatively ordinary, her success rate far exceeded that of other mikos, making her abilities anything but ordinary!

As for her younger sister, Hikari, Sora learned that she possessed a rare ability called Magatsuhi, which could nullify the spiritual power of curses or magic. With concentration, she could even weaken the power of deities.

Watching the girl who was happily playing with the ring he had just given her while holding onto his sleeve, Sora was secretly amazed. His little sister-in-law was no ordinary person either!

In addition, Sora learned some other information from Yuri:

Yuri's father was a gentle person, while her mother was more dominant and strict. The mother was the head of the household. Moreover, to maintain the miko lineage, the women of their family did not marry out. Instead, their fathers and grandfathers were the ones who "married in."

Seeing Yuri's blushing face as she introduced her parents, Sora realized she was subtly warning him to be careful around her mother. As for whether his future mother-in-law was dominant or not, Sora wasn't too worried. However, another issue concerned him: would he also have to "marry in" to be with Yuri?!

No way! That's not happening!

Although he was a somewhat insignificant Demon King, Sora had never considered becoming a live-in son-in-law. He secretly made a mental note: even though he and Yuri had already established their relationship, if his future in-laws insisted on this, he would have to stand his ground…

According to Yuri, she hadn't told her parents about Sora's identity as a Campione (God Slayer). She had only introduced him as a classmate, as her parents had always lived ordinary lives, and Yuri didn't want to involve them in dangerous matters.

"Sora, I know this might be a bit selfish and could diminish your dignity as the Demon King, but could you please interact with my father and mother as an ordinary person…"

Her head lowered, her voice tinged with a hint of pleading, Yuri felt that this request was somewhat excessive, but she truly didn't want her family to be dragged into dangerous situations.

"Hehehe, Onii-sama, your identity is our secret!"

"If Father and Mother knew about your Demon King identity, it would definitely be fun, but let's not tell them."

Affectionately hugging Sora's arm, this was Hikari's contribution. Thanks to the spatial ring, this little sister-in-law had been completely won over by Sora.

"Well, that's not a problem."

Rubbing his nose, Sora nodded in agreement. He didn't care much about being a Demon King anyway.

Seeing Sora agree without hesitation, both sisters showed expressions of joy and gratitude.

Yuri had known from the start that Sora would agree, but she was still deeply moved. As for the little miko, Hikari, her eyes sparkled with an unusual light as she looked at Sora, though it was unclear what she was thinking.

After they entered the house, Yuri served Sora a cup of hot tea and went to the kitchen to prepare lunch. Although she was shy, the girl was also incredibly happy and excited. After all, today was a special day, and she wanted to prepare a lavish meal before her parents returned.

Sitting in the living room, Sora chatted with the little miko, Hikari. Unlike her reserved and shy sister, Hikari was a lively, cute, and somewhat mischievous little sister-in-law. She kept calling him "Onii-sama" so affectionately that Sora began to wonder if she had a brother complex.

Moreover, despite being only eleven or twelve years old, Hikari was much bolder in both speech and action than her older sister. She asked all sorts of tricky questions that left Sora sweating, such as:

"Onii-sama, is it true that you're also in a romantic relationship with your knight? Wow, so daring!"

"Onii-sama, have you and Onee-sama done that? Have you? Tell me!"

"Onii-sama, I heard that Kaoru beat you up last time. You're the Demon King! Are you just going to let it slide? Shouldn't you punish her? I know where Kaoru lives. I'll take you there!"

"Onii-sama…"

Well, faced with such a formidable little sister-in-law, Sora broke out in a cold sweat and quickly fled to the kitchen to help Yuri…
