Chapter 1 Lucas Star

Lucas Star, Thousand Star City.

This was the largest city of the Star System Alliance, with a countless population. As the initiating planetary body of the Star System Alliance, Lucas Star played a pivotal role in the alliance, bringing a long period of peace for the Star System Alliance for various reasons.

And Thousand Star City was also the capital of Lucas Star.

This interstellar city indeed housed thousands from different planetary species.

Lucas University, also known as Lucas Capital University, had a long history. In this ancient university, there had been numerous celebrities, and it was said that many of the current presidents or monarchs of the member stars of the Star System Alliance were alumni of Lucas University.

There was also a saying that in Lucas University, a random throw of a stone could potentially hit a prince or princess of some planet.

Today was the opening day of Lucas University.

Xu Mo walked through the campus of Lucas University. Ahead lay the grandiose and towering palatial castle-like buildings, carrying the air of ancient nobility as though it was an ancient city. The clean campus had huge lawns, appearing especially spacious.

There was a river on the periphery, akin to a moat.

"I'm so tired," Xu Mo said. "She-devil, do you really have the heart to keep me carrying this?"

Xu Mo was carrying a large bundle on his back and dragging a compressed suitcase behind him.

It was heavy.

"Hmm." Miss Ling, with her beautiful big eyes, looked at Xu Mo and nodded seriously, saying, "You took my mom's salary."

"..." Xu Mo looked at Miss Ling and said, "You've changed."

Talking about money with him, how tacky.

"Then give your salary to me from now on," Miss Ling said.

"No way!" Xu Mo exclaimed. "I'm afraid you'll spend it recklessly."

"Liar," Miss Ling glared at him. Xu Mo felt that the she-devil had become smarter with more exposure to the outside world, not so easy to deceive anymore!

Moreover, with such strong learning ability, she would only get smarter in the future. Thinking about this gave Xu Mo a bit of a headache.

He still preferred the 'naive and easy to deceive' she-devil.

Miss Ling was here to study. Her mother had already arranged everything in advance, even her identity and records were prepared. It was not easy to get into Lucas University, and Miss Ling's mother had done a lot of preparatory work beforehand.

Having arrived on Lucas Star with a new identity, Miss Ling would enter the history department of Lucas University to study.

Lucas University was not the Extraordinary Academy, but a comprehensive university with various departments including political science, management, history, and the Extraordinary Department, among others. The Extraordinary Department was just one of them.

"Why did your mom want you to study in the history department?" Xu Mo asked in confusion. "To study the history of Lucas Star?"

"I don't know." Miss Ling shook her head.

"The history department of Lucas University doesn't just study the history of Lucas Star, but also the history of the former Silver Star Empire and many other planets," said a middle-aged woman in front, turning around to speak to Xu Mo.

Wumo, she was Miss Ling's housekeeper on Lucas Star, accompanying Miss Ling to register.

Xu Mo's salary would also depend on her from now on.

Xu Mo, he wasn't here to study. On Lucas Star, his new identity was as Miss Ling's servant.

Thus, he came as a 'servant,' to accompany her in her studies.

In many planets, those of high status had servants. Gaining access to Lucas Star, this kind of identity was the easiest to obtain. Miss Ling's family hadn't arranged it in advance for him.

Thus, Xu Mo simply couldn't study at this university.

Initially, Xu Mo had refused the 'servant' identity.

But, Miss Ling's mother gave a lot.

Xu Mo felt it wasn't totally unacceptable.

"Miss Wumo, now that Miss Ling is studying, what should I do?" Xu Mo asked. Was he supposed to wait at the university until Miss Ling finished classes?

"You could look for a part-time job," Wumo suggested. "Preferably one within the school so that you can look after Miss Ling."

"Is the salary good at the school?" Xu Mo inquired. "Any good job recommendations?"

"As Miss Ling's servant, you can only do some menial jobs. How about the cafeteria?" Wumo looked at Xu Mo, having been instructed by her elder not to be too polite as this servant was somewhat untrustworthy, slick with words, so she really wasn't polite.

"A food service lady?" Xu Mo blinked. Not too good.

"Cleaning?" Wumo continued.

"......" Xu Mo felt that he might have offended Wumo somehow. Was his attractiveness suitable for such tasks?

However, considering his salary was controlled by Wumo, he could only endure.

After all, on Lucas Star, the exchange rate of the Federation currency was a bit low, his previously abundant assets had depreciated significantly.

This pained Xu Mo deeply.

Was the currency not worth much because the Byron Star Federation was weak?

It was said that a recent war had caused the Federation currency to plummet again.

"Don't like any?" Wumo glanced at Xu Mo. This servant was indeed a bit unreasonable. Could it be that he harbored improper thoughts towards Miss Ling? Dreaming of using Miss Ling to climb the social ladder.

"During the new student enrollment period at Lucas University, there are many positions needing people. Very few students in the university waste time on part-time jobs. Go check the recruitment ads and pick a part-time job for yourself. If you can't find one, then find a simple job outside the university," Wumo told Xu Mo as they arrived in the welcome area.

There were many people here, of various strange shapes.

Some even had two antennae on their heads.

"Those with antennae on their heads, are they human too?" Xu Mo whispered.

It seemed as though she had heard him, as her gaze shifted towards him. It was a woman, quite attractive in appearance, yet the two antennae were somewhat jarring. She glared at Xu Mo angrily and said, "gibberish, gibberish."

"......" Xu Mo stared back blankly. Was she cursing at him?

"Handsome, you look really good, gibberish, gibberish." The woman smiled and then shifted her gaze away.

"......" Xu Mo scratched his head. With thousands of years of history, the language of the Silver Star Empire was the foremost interstellar language, and the language of Byron Star Federation was the Imperial language. She clearly could speak it, but that gibberish must be her mother tongue from her homeworld.

"I feel like she's cursing me," Xu Mo said.

"Drop 'feel'," Wumo said to Xu Mo, "The first sentence is 'you are not human, and neither is your family,' and the second is, 'Handsome, you look really good, stupid, self-righteous jerk and pathetic worm.'"

Wumo had clearly learned quite a few languages.

"Uh!" Xu Mo was dumbstruck. Could she really be that insulting?

Indeed, every species was different. This woman must belong to a race that loved to spout trash talk.

"Don't just say anything here," Wumo said with some displeasure, reminding Xu Mo, who nodded.

Such sharp hearing!

Were those delicate antennae receivers, perhaps?

"Miss Ling, let's go register our electronic information," Wumo said to Zero, who nodded and then glanced at Xu Mo.

Xu Mo shrugged his shoulders and walked over to a recruitment advertisement he had seen.

Xu Mo approached and opened the message on the electronic screen beside him.

There were quite a few positions for new students to fill.

Xu Mo scanned them quickly.

Indeed, there were cafeteria workers, cleaners, dormitory managers… Xu Mo paused at 'dorm manager.' It seemed like a relaxed and pleasant job, and he found it quite amusing.

Same gender required?

Never mind!

Gatekeeper, security team?

Pretty boring.

At last, Xu Mo's gaze settled on a spot.

Library manager.

This job had produced many 'great' protagonists, and he felt it was important to give it a try.

In fact, it was the most decent odd-job he had seen so far!

Like cleaning toilets, trash disposal… those were not in line with his temperament.

This was it.

Xu Mo sent his 'resume' through the communicator.

Right, even for odd jobs, one needs to submit a resume.

But Xu Mo soon received a reply asking him to come for an interview now, which felt a bit odd to him. Was the efficiency really that high?

Was this job so undesirable?

Or was he just that outstanding?

"Witch, I'm going for an interview," Xu Mo went up to greet Zero, who felt something was odd. So soon? Was he really going for an interview?

As new students were admitted, she saw many attractive aliens.

Xu Mo smiled and waved at Zero before turning to leave; seeing his smile made Zero feel even more suspicious.

The 'innocent' Xu Mo didn't realize how deep the witch's thoughts were running now.

Lucas University's library looked like a separate castle, standing tall and majestic, imparting a somewhat sacred feel.

Xu Mo stepped inside; the library had five floors and the circular staircases connected each other. The castle was hollow inside, and the books placed inside the hollowed-out castle looked particularly spectacular.

Many people were quietly reading books in the library. Xu Mo glanced around and walked to the desk at the first floor, where an old man in his fifties was wearing glasses.

"Sir, I'm Xu Mo, here for the interview," Xu Mo said.

The old man slightly lowered his head to look at Xu Mo; his eyesight seemed poor as his glasses slipped down to the bridge of his nose. He then nodded, wrote down a series of numbers on a piece of paper, and put it in front of Xu Mo. Xu Mo looked at it, and the old man took it back and asked, "Repeat the sequence back to me."

Xu Mo repeated the numbers. This might have been difficult for an ordinary person, but it was nothing for him.

"Anos Clan?" the old man asked, looking at Xu Mo with a hint of intrigue in his eyes. The Anos Clan was a very powerful race in the interstellar community; after the collapse of the Empire during the era of war, the Anos Clan faced attacks from rebels and experienced a devastating blow.

The information Xu Mo had sent showed that he was from Anos Star.

"No," Xu Mo shook his head, "I am a servant of the Anos Clan."

Zero's new identity was that of an Anos, and his was that of Zero's servant.

So, was it this identity that caught the other's attention?

"Good," the old man nodded, "From now on, you will work here."

Xu Mo was somewhat surprised; he hadn't expected to be hired so easily.

He looked around the vast library, sure to contain many valuable resources.

Xu Mo thought to himself, if the memoirs of the crew of the Chiyou Battleship were ever written, would they mention: The great captain of the Chiyou Battleship, became a librarian at Lucas University!
