The Sinister Screen Queen

Chapter 15: Mamma Mia!

The Lamborghini roared down the dark streets, the streetlights flashing by like strobes.

Allegra's hands gripped the wheel confidently, her foot pressing the gas pedal like she owned the road.

The speedometer ticked higher and higher, and Keira's nervous glances turned into outright panic.

"Allegra, slow down!" Keira shrieked, her fingers clutching the side of her seat. "Do you want to kill us?!"

Allegra laughed, a mischievous sound. "Mia cara, don't be so dramatic! We're fine. Questa macchina—this car—is made for speed!"

"Speed doesn't mean we should die in it!" Keira snapped.

Tanya leaned back in her seat, her face carefully neutral, but her heart raced with each sharp turn Allegra took.

She could feel the raw power of the car vibrating beneath her and wasn't entirely sure Allegra was in total control.

Tanya, despite trying to play it cool, couldn't help but agree with her stepsister for once.

"Allegra." Tanya said, keeping her tone calm, "Maybe ease off a bit?"

Allegra sighed dramatically and lifted her foot slightly from the accelerator. The car slowed, but only just. "Va bene, va bene! I slow down. But you two are no fun, ragazze."

Casey's voice suddenly chimed in. She's just a baby girl driving a monster machine.

Not helping Casey!

Tanya relaxed slightly as the car's speed dropped to something less terrifying but still far above the legal limit.

"How'd you even get this car?"

"Oh, facile." Allegra said, her accent thick.

"I told one of my Italian friends to find me something bello for my trip. They know people, and voila!" She gestured at the luxurious interior. "This beauty."

Keira leaned forward in disbelief. "Wait—how old are you?"

Allegra smirked, flicking a glance at her through the rearview mirror. "Same as Tanya. Quindici anni."

"Fifteen?!" Keira exclaimed, horrified. "You're fifteen, driving a car like this? This is not happening!"

"Non ti preoccupare, Keira. This isn't my first time. Tanya and I? We've done much worse." Allegra said nonchalantly, tapping the wheel.

Tanya shot her a side-eye. "You're not helping."

"What if we get pulled over?" Keira said, her voice rising in pitch. "We'd be arrested! Charged! Do you even have a license?!"

Allegra waved her off. "The police? Bah! They never stop cars like this."

As if on cue, red and blue lights flared behind them, and the wail of a siren pierced the air. A police car had begun tailing them, signaling them to pull over.

Allegra's jaw tightened as she glared at Keira. "Brava! You tempted fate."

"ME?!" Keira yelled back. "This is your fault! Now we're all going to jail!"

While the two argued, Tanya sighed, resting her head against her palm. "Of course, this happens. I should've stayed in bed."

Can't end the night like this! Casey exclaimed in her head. You've got a mission.

Escape the cops

Reward: Baby's Driving Skills

Penalty? A cozy night in jail

Due to the situation, Casey has automatically accepted

Tanya frowned at Casey's message.

Who the hell is Baby?

Without warning, vivid images and sensations flooded her mind memories of the movie Baby Driver, the precision of the car chases, the thrill of tight escapes.

When it ended, Tanya blinked, What the hell was that?

Casey replied smugly. A freebie. Next time, you'll pay for the movie viewing

Tanya massaged her temples. Baby's skills are… pretty impressive. But how does that help us right now? I can't drive, and Allegra's already acting like a wannabe Baby.

Tanya turned to Allegra, who was still bickering with Keira. "Allegra! Focus up. Can you lose them?"

Allegra flipped her hair dramatically. "Per favore! Do you doubt me?"

"YES, WE DO!" Keira's voice rose in panic.

"Andiamo!" Allegra shouted, and the Lamborghini roared as it surged forward.

Keira screamed as the force pinned her against the back seat. Tanya braced herself, gritting her teeth.

The police car's lights blurred in the rearview mirror as Allegra wove through the streets with alarming ease, her Italian commentary flying fast and loose.

"Stupidi poliziotti! Non mi prenderete mai!"

Keira clutched the seatbelt, her voice shrill. "You're going to get us all killed!"

"Calmati!" Allegra called back, her eyes gleaming. "I've got this!"

Despite her panic, Tanya couldn't help but marvel at Allegra's reckless skill.

Keira clung to the door, shouting, "This is NOT how I wanted to spend my night!"

Allegra only laughed, throwing out a string of Italian phrases that Tanya barely caught but assumed meant something about leaving the cops in the dust.

The Lamborghini Murciélago's engine growled, and the speedometer climbed past 150 mph (240 km/h).

Allegra's hands were steady on the wheel.

"You know this thing can hit 206 mph?" Allegra said, her Italian accent thick as she smirked.

Behind them, the faint red and blue glow of the police cars were struggling to keep up.

"Cosa fanno?"

Allegra glanced at the rearview mirror. "These cops they drive so slow. Is this what they call a chase?"

"It's not a chase, it's a death wish!" Keira shrieked from the seat.

"Uffa, calma!" Allegra replied, rolling her eyes dramatically. "We are alive, no? Trust me, cara mia."

Tanya, while trying to maintain her cool, couldn't hide her unease. "This isn't a racetrack. You've got to—"

"Ascolta, Tanya." Allegra interrupted her Italian accent teasing. "If you wanted slow, you should have stayed on a bicycle."

 "Now hold tight!"

Ahead, a red light loomed, but Allegra didn't flinch. She drove straight through it, weaving between cars that blared their horns as they barely avoided a collision.

Keira screamed, her hands gripping the seat.

"Are you insane?!" Keira shouted.

"No, no." Allegra responded with a smirk.

"I am Italian!"

Suddenly, another police car appeared ahead, its lights flashing as it blocked the street.

Allegra groaned in annoyance. "Mamma mia, questi poliziotti non mollano mai."

She made a sharp turn onto a one-way street, where cars were barrelling toward them head-on.

"What are you doing?" Tanya demanded.

Instead of dodging, Allegra accelerated toward the oncoming traffic.

"Tranquilla." Allegra said.

"One person must move out of the way. If two people move, boom, we crash. So I stay. Simple, no?"

"Simple?!" Keira screamed as Allegra sped straight toward the oncoming cars.

Horns blared, tires screeched, and all cars swerved frantically out of Allegra's way.

The police car chasing them wasn't so lucky.

The police officer hesitated, zigzagging, and crashed headlong into another vehicle.

The sound of crunching metal faded as Allegra smoothly guided the Lamborghini back onto the correct side of the road.

Keira was pale, her hands trembling. "We're going to prison."

"Oh, relax, tesoro!" Allegra said, grinning as left the mess of crashed vehicles. "If we go to prison, at least we'll look fabulous doing it."

Despite herself, Tanya let out a low whistle. "Well, that was... something."

"But you realize if this turns into a city-wide chase, we're screwed. We're in the middle of London."

"Lo so, lo so." Allegra replied, slowing slightly as they neared the heart of the city. "But look dove sono? Che imbarazzo."

"Embarrassing for them? I'm freaking out here!" Keira exclaimed, leaning back in her seat and covering her face.

Tanya groaned, her heart pounding. "Just get us out of here before we're on every front page tomorrow."

Allegra weaved through the traffic with ease that one gets after lots of practice.

Within minutes, they pulled up outside the Royal Opera House.

Casey's voice chimed in Tanya's head. That was disappointing. I expected more for such a good reward

I nearly died. Tanya retorted mentally.

Forgive me if I'm not doing donuts in celebration.

Allegra brought the Lamborghini to a halt at the white-carpeted entrance of the event.

The towering columns of the Royal Opera House loomed above them, and the area buzzed with flashing cameras and elegantly dressed attendees.

"Eccoci!" Allegra announced with a flourish.

Allegra stepped out gracefully, tossing the keys to a valet with a casual, "Grazie, bello. Don't scratch her."

Keira stumbled out, taking a moment to steady herself before straightening her back, her actress's training kicking in.

Keira plastered on a composed smile, waving faintly at the photographers.

Tanya stepped out last, squinting against the blinding camera flashes.

"I already hate this." She muttered under her breath.

The crowd buzzed around them, the white carpet leading toward the grand entrance of the opera house.

Overhead, the thrum of a helicopter caught Tanya's attention.

She glanced up to see a police chopper circling. "You've got to be kidding me."

"They're still looking?"

Allegra turned to her with a carefree grin. "Certo! They can look, but they can't touch. Come on, friends. Cammina con me."

Together, the girls walked toward the entrance, Allegra leading the way with the poise of someone who belonged to this world of blinding flashes.

Tanya let herself relax slightly, scanning the large banner above the entrance that read:

Winter's Elegance

A Celebration of Haute Couture

Tanya muttered. "Exactly what I needed."

"Oh, smettila," Allegra teased.

"It'll be fun. You might even learn something about elegance."

"I learned how not to crash a Lamborghini at 200 mph. That's enough education for one night."
