Chapter 373: Chapter 373: Linlin Awakened Fruit, Vampire Clone! (Bonus Chapter)
"El-sama, per your instructions, we've already delivered our terms to the Navy…"
Within Totto Land Kingdom, atop Atlantis,
the "Shapeshifting Witch" Sally—serving as Minister of Intelligence—was reporting to El. She asked curiously,
"But do we really plan to return Fleet Admiral Kong's stolen lifespan? If we just hold on to it a bit longer, he might soon retire on his own, wouldn't he?"
After all, if they never gave back the remaining lifespan to Kong—who was effectively already seventy-five years old—he would likely have to retire in just a few years. Or, like Hammons William before him, perhaps be relegated to a ceremonial "Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces" post under the World Government, effectively living out his days in Mary Geoise. Word had it that even though Hammons William hadn't been that old upon stepping down, and possessed excellent medical care, his health steadily deteriorated, and he had spent recent years hospitalized in the Holy Land. Likely he wouldn't hold on for much longer.
Of course, during his tenure as Fleet Admiral, confronting a monster like El-sama and suffering so many defeats and losses—being driven to the brink of death in office was already fortunate enough for him. Meanwhile, the two Admirals promoted via the World Military Draft—Blackbear and Ironbone—had long since retired. But, thanks to the enormous bounties offered by Totto Land, they dared not return to their home countries and had continued living in Marine Headquarters.
"Mamamamama, it doesn't matter…"
Heavily pregnant Linlin—her belly large—spoke with a cheerful grin.
"At this point, even returning his lifespan won't be much of a threat to us! That Glint-Glint Fruit is still quite appealing; plus we get one Ancient Zoan and two decent Paramecias in the bargain!"
"Of course, that's only if the World Government obediently hands over the Glint-Glint Fruit. Otherwise, they can forget the whole deal!"
From the Fallen Angel Pirates' perspective, while Kong was certainly no weakling, he wasn't nearly as threatening as people might fear. Even Linlin, who was five months pregnant and thus somewhat hampered in combat, was confident she could suppress him. In contrast, the Logia Glint-Glint Fruit was a first-rate power—enough to cultivate another formidable young talent among the Lunarians. Even if that new talent wasn't quite on par with Thor the "God of Thunder," it wouldn't be too far behind. Plus, there were three other worthwhile Devil Fruits included.
Most importantly, Linlin wanted to present that top-tier Logia power to her daughter—the older triplet sister who had just turned six, the thirteenth Kukulkan child, Hestia—as a birthday gift.
"No need to worry," El said with a faint smile, unconcerned. "Sure, there might be some consequences, but nothing major."
Kong's strength was notable and he had been one of the more distinguished Fleet Admirals. But by now, El no longer considered him particularly relevant. Nor was Totto Land planning any immediate, all-out war against the World Government. For the moment, they preferred to bide their time—systematically weakening and outlasting the government. Once the Kukulkan family and Totto Land had fully prepared and the situation was ripe, they would strike a fatal blow. After all, the Glint-Glint Fruit was indeed very useful, and little Hestia would certainly love it. By offering that fruit, the exchange was nothing they'd regret.
"But Linlin, given your current condition, can you really be the one to show up for the trade?" Sally asked anxiously.
After all, Linlin was pregnant with quintuplets—any mishap could be catastrophic.
"Mamamamama, I don't need to go in person. This will suffice!"
She extended her right hand, and a giant Bat emerged, flaring its wings in a swirl of blood-red light.
Whoosh!
In the next moment, it transformed into Linlin's exact likeness, leaving onlookers speechless.
"That's… a Bat Clone?"
Sally poked the figure—visually identical to Linlin, and exuding an equally intimidating aura—and looked at Linlin in astonishment.
"Linlin, your power awakened?"
Being well-versed in Devil Fruits herself, Sally knew all about the concept of "Awakening." Her Paramecia "Dough-Dough Fruit" had been fully awakened for some time. Generally speaking, the stronger the power, the harder the Awakening—particularly for Mythical Zoan abilities, which were notoriously difficult. Linlin's newly shown ability to split off a Bat form and then shape it into a perfect "clone" confirmed that her Mythical Zoan Vampire Fruit must have fully awakened. Even before awakening, Linlin had been terrifying. Now, Sally couldn't imagine how powerful she was—very likely, Linlin usually held back in public to keep opponents guessing.
"Mamamamama…" Linlin bared her teeth in a mischievous smile. "Otherwise, why would we so readily agree to the Navy's demands?"
Over the years, under El's guidance, Linlin had continued honing her skills—leading fleets on expeditions to temper herself. With her ever-growing strength, her Bat-Bat Fruit, Mythical Zoan: Vampire Form had naturally awakened. If she lacked sufficient strength or confidence, her hunger for the Glint-Glint Fruit wouldn't be enough to let her hand over Kong's lifespan so casually. That would be a gift to the enemy.
"How strong is that clone?" Sally asked, eyeing the Bat Doppelganger.
"If I only split off one, it can display about 70-80% of my full power," Linlin said with a confident smile. "More than enough to handle unforeseen problems."
Though she couldn't match El—the so-called "World's Strongest Creature"—Linlin was a natural-born monster. Years of training and real combat were not wasted. With a doppelganger holding 70-80% of her peak power, even if Kong got his lifespan back and tried something, she had nothing to fear.
"Whoa, that's crazy…" Sally breathed. Indeed, that meant Linlin could at will produce multiple Bat clones. Then she got to the critical question: "How long do the clones last, and how far can you control them from?"
"No worries. One Bat clone can endure three to five days without vanishing. It retains the same Mythical Zoan Vampire abilities and can restore itself by absorbing blood… As for range, if my real body remains on Cake Island, the clone can still function anywhere within Totto Land's boundaries at full strength."
Linlin chuckled. "Of course, it's not flawless. Being a clone, it lacks my true body's immortality. A lethal strike would instantly dispel it… but the doppelganger still has an 'iron balloon' level of defense, so that's plenty."
"Hehe, then that'll do nicely!" Sally said, nodding in approval.
