Chapter 1006
Chapter 1006: Valkyrie Faction (5 Million Words Commemorative Edition)
If the king intended to reclaim his power, the Free City would be an eyesore to him.
“Let them come, let them flow, I control the situation,” Dark Demon was quite composed in contrast.
The maids and Aurora’s fear of the king stemmed from the inevitable existence of royal authority.
But Dark Demon was unaffected by this.
In his eyes, he saw things far beyond the present.
When Bishop Sabrina Melville and Guinevere Ulysses came outside, the three carriages—the king’s, the pope’s, and the queen of the elves’—were still in the air, locked in a standoff.
Actually, the queen of the elves could move, but everyone enjoyed watching the spectacle. She lay half-reclined on a soft lounge, eating fruit and watching the sunset, showing no signs of urgency.
Before coming here, she was quite anxious. But after arriving, she felt more relaxed.
Now, all she wanted to see was the bloodshed between the royal and divine powers of the Kingdom of Unic!
Unfortunately, such a reality was hard to witness.
But perhaps in her lifetime, she might see a duel between the pope and the old king? That would be wonderful!
She had long wished to beat up these two old men!
The arrival of Bishop Sabrina Melville and Guinevere Ulysses provided a ladder for both the pope and the king.
Seeing that the standoff was unsustainable, the queen of the elves turned around and headed inside, meeting with Lucyia Artemis who came to greet her.
This generation of the Elemental race was led by the Moon Elves, from the queen to the high priestess, all members of the Artemis family.
However, the Elemental race promoted capable individuals. The reasons for their power were not solely due to lineage.
As the carriage pulled by the “Steel Divine Soldier” stopped, Queen of the Elves Vira Artemis pushed open the door and stepped out.
Behind her were guards, but they were not significant. For she herself was the strongest among them. “Where’s Bellamy?”
Upon reaching Lucyia’s side, the queen of the elves asked. Lucyia puffed her cheeks, displeased that her mother did not first ask about her situation, but then immediately led the queen inside.
Vira Artemis looked like a larger version of Lucyia. Together, no one would doubt they were mother and daughter.
On the other side, the pope and the king finally landed. As the king walked out, he was accompanied by the chief of the palace seers—Destin Cobberfield, known as the “Tail of Fate.”
Destin Cobberfield was older than the king but appeared quite energetic and sharp-eyed, even more so than the king himself.
In comparison, Pope Patricius was truly an elderly man. His last public appearance was during the execution of the Demon King, less than a year ago, yet he now seemed much older, making it unsurprising if he were to suddenly pass away.
His heavy aura almost felt palpable.
Yet, no one dared to underestimate this elder on the verge of death.
Accompanying Patricius was a new archbishop wearing a mask, tall and thin, with a high hat.
This archbishop was just over thirty years old, and someone of his age becoming an archbishop was extraordinary.
Bishop Sabrina Melville glanced at the archbishop and then shifted her gaze away.
She supported the pope’s arm and began walking slowly inside.
After today, she would definitely be promoted to archbishop, and this newly appointed archbishop, only thirty years old, was her direct competitor!
As the sunset faded and night fell, the originally temporary meeting finally began. The number of participants far exceeded expectations.
For this reason, Emily Grantham had to temporarily switch to a larger venue and a bigger round table.
The round table had no hierarchy; each faction sat clearly apart. Seven from Saint Maryann Academy, seven from the Valkyrie faction, two from the Northern Territory, seven from the Church of the Saints, five from the king’s side, and six from the Elemental race. A total of thirty-four people.
Due to unexpected guests, the initial atmosphere was unusually somber. Bishop Sabrina Melville had to step forward to guide the conversation: “No need for introductions. Since everyone is here, I assume you are all aware of what has happened. Based on this, let’s discuss your views on the divine ritual?”
Hardly had she finished speaking when Count Stanley Longfellow said, “Given the current situation, what’s the point of differing opinions?”
Sabrina Melville frowned and said, “Longfellow, if you don’t want to participate, you can leave.”
Stanley Longfellow sneered, “What a grand display of authority, Bishop. But you can only show off on me, a minor player.”
He originally had no right to attend the meeting, but the king’s arrival allowed him to sneak in.
Naturally, he had to play the role of a vanguard, a charging wolf. However, his manner of speaking made Count Gavin North uncomfortable, his face sour like excrement.
But as Stanley Longfellow lowered the tone of the meeting, King Austin Clarissa finally found his chance to speak.
He lightly tapped the table, signaling for Count Longfellow to be silent, then scanned the room and said, “I have learned about the divine ritual from Count Gavin North’s message.”
Gavin North’s face turned ashen.
Duke Ted North gripped his teacup, anger brewing but restrained. The king continued, “The促成 of the divine ritual was unavoidable, but no one could defy the will of a god at that time. You accomplished this difficult task. Here, I must express the gratitude of countless citizens of the kingdom to the twelve children who fought in the heavens and successfully prevented the immediate resurrection of the twelve gods, giving us humans a glimmer of hope!”
After saying this, his gaze swept over Dark Demon and others. He looked proud.
Ignoring the queasy feelings of the Elementals and the disdain of the “Twin Holy Knights” among humans, they maintained silence out of respect for the human king.
Finally, the king’s gaze naturally fell on the only one present and knowledgeable among the “twelve children.”
“Especially you, Dark. I heard you played an irreplaceable role in this heavenly journey. Was the final outcome largely due to you?”
