Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Arachne

As I emerged into the bright sunlight, I saw a figure standing in the distance. It was a woman, her long hair blowing in the wind. But it was her face that made my blood run cold.

She was beautiful, but her eyes were black as coal. And they seemed to be sucking all the light out of the air.

"Ava, this is Arachne," Elijah said, his voice low and cautious.

Arachne's eyes locked onto mine, and I felt a shiver run down my spine. There was something about her that seemed...off.

"Welcome, Ava," Arachne said, her voice dripping with honey. "I've been waiting for you."

I felt a surge of fear as Arachne's eyes seemed to bore into my soul. What did she want from me?

But before I could ask any questions, Elijah stepped forward, his eyes locked on Arachne.

"We need your help," he said, his voice firm. "Ava's in danger."

Arachne's eyes flicked to Elijah, and for a moment, I saw a flash of anger in her gaze. But then, her expression smoothed out, and she smiled.

"Of course, Elijah," she said, her voice dripping with sweetness. "I'll do whatever it takes to help Ava."

But as I looked into Arachne's eyes, I couldn't shake the feeling that she was hiding something. And that whatever she was planning, it wasn't good.

Arachne's smile grew wider as she stepped closer to me. I could feel Elijah's tension radiating from him, but he didn't move.

"What's going on, Elijah?" I whispered, trying to keep my voice steady.

But Elijah just shook his head, his eyes fixed warily on Arachne.

"Let's just get inside, shall we?" Arachne said, her voice dripping with sweetness. "We can discuss the details later."

I hesitated, unsure of what to do. But Elijah's grip on my hand tightened, and he nodded.

"Okay," I said, trying to sound calm.

Arachne's smile grew even wider as she turned and led us into the house. I felt a shiver run down my spine as we stepped inside, the door creaking shut behind us.

As we walked through the house, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were walking into a trap. Arachne seemed too perfect, too polished. And Elijah's tension was palpable.

But where else could we go? We had to trust Arachne, at least for now.

As we reached the living room, Arachne turned to face us, her eyes glinting with a knowing light.

"So, Ava," she said, her voice dripping with sweetness. "Tell me...what do you know about your family's past?"

I hesitated, unsure of what to say. But Elijah's grip on my hand tightened, and he nodded.

"Tell her," he whispered.

I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. But as I looked into Arachne's eyes, I knew that I was taking a risk. What secrets was she hiding? And what did she really want from me?

"I don't know much," I admitted, trying to sound calm. "My parents never talked about our family's past."

Arachne's eyes narrowed, her gaze piercing. "That's interesting," she said, her voice dripping with skepticism. "Because I think you do know more than you're letting on."

I shook my head, feeling a surge of fear. What did Arachne want from me?

"No, really, i don't know anything." I insisted

Arachne's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with amusement. "We'll see about that," she said, her voice dripping with menace.

As Arachne raised her hand, I felt a surge of energy emanate from her. It was like nothing I had ever felt before - a powerful, pulsating force that seemed to wash over me like a wave.

I tried to step back, but Elijah's grip on my hand held me in place. "What's going on?" I whispered, trying to keep my voice steady.

But Elijah just shook his head, his eyes fixed warily on Arachne.

As the energy continued to build, I felt my mind begin to spin. Images flashed through my mind - strange, disjointed pictures that seemed to come from nowhere.

I saw a dark forest, the trees twisted and gnarled. I saw a figure running, the sound of footsteps echoing through the trees. And I saw a pair of eyes, glowing with an otherworldly light.

The images faded, leaving me feeling dazed and disoriented. Arachne's smile grew wider, her eyes glinting with triumph.

"Ah," she said, her voice dripping with satisfaction. "I thought so."

Thought what? I wondered, feeling a surge of fear.

But before I could ask any questions, Arachne turned and disappeared into the shadows, leaving Elijah and me alone in the darkness.

What did Arachne want from me? And what secrets was she hiding?

As Arachne disappeared, Elijah turned to me, his eyes burning with intensity. "Ava, we need to get out of here," he whispered urgently. I guess he also noticed Arachne was somewhat off.

But I hesitated, my mind still reeling from the strange visions I had seen. What did they mean? And what did Arachne want from me?

"Elijah, what's going on?" I whispered, trying to keep my voice steady.

But Elijah just shook his head, his eyes darting around the room. "We can't talk here," he whispered. "We need to get out of here, now."

I nodded, still feeling dazed and disoriented. Elijah took my hand, his grip warm and reassuring, and pulled me through the house.

As we emerged into the bright sunlight, I felt a surge of relief wash over me. We were safe, at least for the moment.

But as we walked away from the house, I couldn't shake the feeling that we were being watched. Arachne's eyes seemed to be boring into my skin, and I knew that we weren't out of danger yet.

Where were we going? And what lay ahead?
