The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system

Chapter 42: Blood thirsty viewers

Alix closed herself in her music room immediately she stepped foot into the house and switched on the computer which the system gave her for gaming.

She switched into gaming mode pretty quickly and went into the virtual world. She returned to where she had left off, the quest board.

Ding!, she heard.

"You have a mission host." the system informed her.

"What?" she queried. "You didn't say anything about missions."

"The system has determined that you need an extra push to play more zealously.

Mission: Complete two quests in an hour and receive four bad luck coupons.

"Can I reject the mission?" she asked.

Failure: Be reverted back to the first world.

The elf did not reply, the answer provided itself automatically on the virtual screen.

"Okay then." she mumbled. A mission it was, perhaps she did need that extra push anyway.

Of the eight original quests she had left behind, there were five quests left which were not undertaken. Of the five two would go much easier for her.

One was to defeat the crabby serpent living in the caves behind the sugarcane farms and another was to help an old man catch some yellow fish.

"Let's start with the serpent. System, what do you know about the serpent?"

"It's a magical creature born out of the wizards magic. To defeat it as a bard you need to play the song of the crabby serpent. The song makes the snake amiable. It will be easy to deal with after that."

She whistled and her ostrich came running.

"Where do I need to go to find the song?" she asked.

She assumed that it would not be simple to find the song, just as she went a trip to find the song for mother canary in the church.

"On the map of the second world, there is a temple of the Naga queen. You must steal the scroll with the song of the crabby serpent from the temple."

"More snakes, yay." she said sonorously, not too pleased.

She jumped on the ostrich and set out for the temple of the Naga queen.

"You chose the quest, what are you complaining about?"

"I don't like snakes." she said.

The good thing about the gaming world was how fast and near everything was when you needed it.

In no time, she arrived outside the temple of the Naga queen. It was an old temple, partially in ruins that depicted a great battle having taken place sometime in the past.

Vines were crawling all over it's walls on the outside, green with small purple flowers. They were little snakes that had been hatched not too long ago. There were hissing sounds wailing in the wind eerily.

Alix's skin crawled as she climbed down from the back of the ostrich. She felt as if something was slithering up her legs.

"Did they have to make it so creepy?" she asked herself. Perhaps she had chosen the wrong quest after all.

"On the bright side, you have six hundred thousand viewers already. I am so proud of you for choosing this quest, the viewers do enjoy watching bloody battles."

Before the blue elf could finish his words, Alix saw a human skull at the bottom of the steps leading up to the temple.

"Bloody battle or snake chow?" she mumbled.

This was a gaming world but she had certainly not forgotten about the real pain to her physical body part. If she was swallowed by the Naga queen here, what would happen to her in the real world? She would probably suffocate, right?

She had spent gaming money and points on weapons and recovery potions, she hoped that would be enough for now.

As she walked up those steps, in her right hand was a flute and her left a sword. If anything came close, it was losing it's head.

"I never thought I would see so many viewers on your channel. On one hand, you will get more points but on the other, most of them are here to watch you get eaten according to the polls." In a wonder filled voice, the blue elf told her.

"You are not helping." she said.

She was at the doors leading to the inside of the temple.

"Well, here goes nothing." she whispered and pushed the doors wide open.

At first sight, she saw snakes, thousands of them everywhere, crawling on the ground and walls. They came in all colors and sizes and the sound of their hissing was strong.

The path to the song of the serpent was mapped out for her by the system. She had to go through a corridor on the left, take a right turn through statues of the Naga queen and then open a sarcophagus of a green serpent and take the scroll from there.

She put the flute on her mouth, and started playing the same tune which she played in the swamp. If it worked on the frog, it was would certainly work on the snakes.

She took a gamble, and it worked because he snakes whose beady eyes had turned to her looked away and went back to crawling. The weakest ones even fell asleep as she played, and slowly but stealthily made her way to the corridor.

Next up was the room with the statues of the Naga queen, Alix could count at least one hundred easily. Some were gigantic and others depicted her sleeping.

In some, she was fierce, with her mighty fangs on the outside and her mouth wide open.

On all the statues, she was partially human, especially her upper body.

Not taking any chances, Alix resumed her playing hoping that if any snakes were here, they would sleep or be hypnotized quickly.

"Yeah, that's not gonna work here, the guardian of the temple cannot be hypnotized." her system said.

"Oh!" she gasped.

And that's when she heard it, something heavy and fast, crawling in her direction through the statues. She could not find it with her eyes but she could feet it because the temple was trembling.

Swiftly, she jumped up and landed on top of one of the biggest statues.

Her flute was set on automatic mode, to continue playing the hypnotic tune and she clenched her right hand around the sword.

What was coming, was it the Naga queen or the guardian? Another thought on her mind was please don't swallow me, I really don't want to snake chow.
