This Doctor Is Too Wealthy

Chapter 188: 188 group incidents

Wang Shiyuan's words were reasonable.

Agritourism was indeed a good project with little investment, and it could be done at home while taking care of his wife.

But no matter how small the investment, it still required some money to start.

With Wang Shiyuan's current situation, what could he possibly invest?

Not only did he not have a penny to his name, but he was also drowning in debt.

"Your wife has just recovered. If you go out to find work, can you take her with you? But even if you do, would you feel at ease? Moreover, considering your current situation, the working and living conditions are unlikely to be good, which wouldn't be beneficial for your wife's recovery."

Du Heng slowly ate a mouthful of rice, pondered for a moment, then said, "Let's eat first. Let me think more about your situation. I'm sure we can find a good solution."

After finishing the meal, Du Heng sent the two of them back and instructed them, "I won't be at the Health Clinic for the next few days. If you have any problems, find Dr. Wu Buwei. I'll arrange everything."

Seeing that they were about to thank him again, Du Heng, feeling overwhelmed, quickly waved his hands, said it wasn't necessary, and hurried out.

As soon as he stepped out of the hospital room, he received a call from Gong Daoyang.

"Xiao Du? Are you at the Health Clinic?"

"Yes. Is Brother Gong inviting me for a meal?"

"Meal, my foot! Since you're at the Health Clinic, accompany me to Zhonghu Middle School."

Du Heng walked out while on the phone and casually asked, "What happened?"

"A student called the police, claiming their cafeteria used rotten meat for cooking, and now they're experiencing stomachaches."

"Isn't that outside your jurisdiction?"

"I suspect it's a prank, but we should go take a look just in case. If it turns out to be true, we'll deal with it then."

While they were talking, Du Heng reached the entrance and spotted Gong Daoyang and Liu Gong. "I see you. I'm coming down now."

The moment Liu Gong greeted Du Heng, he slung an arm over his shoulder. "Old Du, so you're officially the Dean now! When are you going to treat us old classmates to a meal?"

In the midday heat, an arm draped over his shoulder felt uncomfortably warm.

Du Heng brushed Liu Gong's arm off. "I've been a bit busy these past few days. How about in a few days?"

"As long as you agree, that's fine."

The three of them chatted and laughed as they walked to Zhonghu Middle School. The gatekeeper was still the same uncle from when Du Heng was a student there.

His appearance hadn't changed much, just a few more wrinkles on his face and considerably more white hair.

However, his overall complexion looked very healthy, and compared to Du Heng's memory, this uncle seemed much fairer-skinned than before.

The uncle didn't seem to recognize Du Heng or Liu Gong, but seeing Gong Daoyang and Liu Gong's police uniforms, he didn't ask any questions and directly opened the gate for them.

However, as the three of them entered the campus, the uncle immediately called Director Zhang from the academic office to inform him.

Zhonghu Middle School was the only junior high school in Zhonghu Town, with over a thousand students.

More than half of these students lived far from home, so many chose to board at the school, their three daily meals all provided by the school cafeteria.

It was currently the lunch break, so the campus was quiet with few students around. Gong Daoyang took out his phone, called back the number that had reported the incident, and after a few words, led Du Heng and Liu Gong into the dormitory building.

In this dormitory building, the first to third floors housed male students, and the fourth to sixth floors housed female students. Each floor had a dorm supervisor, and a door was installed between the third and fourth floors to prevent any issues.

Just as the three of them arrived at the dormitory entrance, Director Zhang called out to them from behind.

Director Zhang was nearing retirement age and had been in his position for over ten years. He possessed outstanding management and teaching abilities. Though strict, he was highly regarded by both students and teachers.

However, despite being such an excellent administrator and educator, he had somehow never managed to become the school Principal.

Gong Daoyang and Du Heng were now the heads of two independent workplaces in Zhonghu Town. Du Heng and Liu Gong, in particular, were graduates of Zhonghu Middle School, and Director Zhang had even taught them. They were quite familiar with him.

Walking closer, Director Zhang chuckled and said, "Director Gong, Xiao Du, and Xiao Liu! You're here! Why didn't you give me a call? Come on, let's go to my office for a cup of tea and a chat."

Du Heng and Liu Gong both greeted him, "Hello, Mr. Zhang," and then let Gong Daoyang take the lead.

After all, Gong Daoyang was Liu Gong's leader, and Du Heng had been called by Gong Daoyang to help. Today, Gong Daoyang was in charge.

Gong Daoyang shook hands with Director Zhang. "Director Zhang, we received a report from students at your school, so I came to investigate. We'll come find you for tea after we're done."

Director Zhang glanced at the dormitory building. "Director Gong, don't worry about it. It must be these little rascals causing trouble. Let's go to my office for tea. I'll have our dorm supervisor check it out, and they can report back to us once they know what's what." With that, he tried to pull Gong Daoyang away.

However, Gong Daoyang didn't budge. "Since we're already here at the door, let's go in and take a look," he insisted. "If they are indeed causing trouble, they'll need to be reprimanded."

Seeing Gong Daoyang's determined attitude, Director Zhang could only follow him into the dormitory building.

But as soon as they entered, the atmosphere felt distinctly wrong.

Groups of students were clutching their stomachs and rushing to the toilet. Some students were right by the inner bathroom door, bent over and vomiting violently. Du Heng's expression changed, and he glanced at Gong Daoyang.

Gong Daoyang's face had also changed. He met Du Heng's eyes. "Quickly, go see what's going on with them!"

Du Heng immediately headed towards the toilet entrance. As he passed dormitory doors, he saw some students inside, clutching their stomachs and groaning on their beds.

Meanwhile, Gong Daoyang shot a cold glance at Director Zhang. Terrified by the scene, Director Zhang was breaking out in a cold sweat.

Catching Gong Daoyang's eye, Director Zhang stammered, "I... I don't know what's going on! No one informed me!"

Gong Daoyang ignored him and said to Liu Gong, "Go upstairs immediately and check if the other floors are like this too."

"Yes, Director!" Liu Gong responded and quickly turned to run upstairs.

After a brief panic, Director Zhang began to shout loudly, calling for the first-floor dorm supervisor.

The dorm supervisor emerged from a room wearing only a pair of large shorts, evidently having been napping.

By this time, Du Heng had reached the students vomiting by the toilet entrance. He performed a brief examination and then glanced into the toilet; it was also packed with students, all looking terribly unwell.

He then turned and entered a nearby dormitory, examining the students who were lying on their beds, clutching their stomachs and groaning.

"Students, when did this start for you?" Du Heng asked.

"It started not long after we came back from lunch."

"What did you eat in the cafeteria?"

"Steak, Tomato and Scrambled Eggs, and boiled broccoli."

A thought struck Du Heng, and he quickly asked, "Did the food taste strange in any way?"
