Chapter 121: Greeza
Hah— hah—
I'm saved.
Daigo was panting heavily, feeling like his lungs were about to explode. The Jeep had finally stopped. It was a good thing they hadn't filled up the tank earlier.
"See, Daigo? It was effective, wasn't it? Your potential has been stimulated. Were you ever able to run that fast before?" Kenji asked with a smile.
Daigo rolled his eyes. He definitely did not want this method of stimulating his potential. If something had gone wrong, he wasn't even sure if his insurance would cover it. His legs felt completely numb, as if they were filled with lead. He had lost count of how many steps he had run.
That was just monstrous. What kind of twisted mind did that Alien Guts have to come up with such a malicious training method?
"Daigo, here's a towel. Go on, wipe off your sweat," Rena said, walking over and handing him a towel and a sports drink.
"Thank you, Rena," Daigo said, scratching his head. It had indeed been an exhilarating workout, and he was drenched in sweat.
"Daigo, is she your girlfriend?" Kenji asked with interest, slowly stroking his chin.
"Uh..."
Daigo and Rena both blushed instantly. After a quick glance at each other, they hurriedly looked away.
A smirk formed on Kenji's lips. Please, call me Ken 'The Matchmaker' Ji.
"Daigo, I never knew you were in such great shape," Shinjo said with a thumbs-up. This was his heartfelt opinion. Is that the stamina of a normal person?
Daigo was a little surprised himself. He also felt that his physical constitution wasn't normal. It was probably related to that "genetic factor of light." The food Kenji had shared was also very nutritious, so his physical fitness was constantly improving. He could now even use abilities like Ultra Psychokinesis in his human form.
"Mr. Kenji, how do you know so much about all those monsters?" Rena asked curiously.
"You can think of it as me having a superpower that allows me to see fragments of the future," Kenji replied after some consideration. Before, it was because he had seen the corresponding anime, but now, he could actually see glimpses of the future. He didn't use it often, though. If you could see everything, life would be no fun.
Shinjo and Rena were astonished, but they quickly accepted it. After all, if creatures like monsters existed, it was perfectly normal for superpowers to exist as well.
"You two chat. Shinjo and I are going on patrol." Rena checked the time. It was their turn for routine patrol today, searching for any supernatural phenomena.
"Kenji, about that invitation to the Land of Light that the original Ultraman asked Hikari to extend to me... should I go now?" Daigo asked. He was certainly curious about a country with so many Ultramen. The problem was, he hadn't even met the original Ultraman yet.
"Let's wait until you meet the original in the future. For an Ultraman, time is never a problem," Kenji said. An Ultraman who was several thousand years old was just a small child in human years. Although, if Father of Ultra and the old sixth Ultra brother knew about your horn-breaking癖, they probably wouldn't want you in the Land of Light.
Hahaha...
A bizarre laugh suddenly rang out, echoing between heaven and earth, making one's very soul tremble.
"Holy crap, Greeza!"
Kenji looked up and immediately cursed. The figure in space, twisting and contorting from time to time, was none other than the ridiculously overpowered and disgusting Greeza, who first appeared in Ultraman X. Unlike If in its white sphere form, this form of Greeza could not be resolved peacefully. Its very essence was nothingness, making most attacks completely ineffective against it.
Kenji wasn't at all surprised it had appeared in this universe. This Greeza had likely been born after the four-dimensional monster Bullton was destroyed. Daigo was really having an eventful life now.
"Is this a monster I'm supposed to fight?" Daigo's scalp tingled. Beam attacks didn't work, and physical attacks were useless too. First If, now Greeza. He could now also see into space. Black lightning flashed, and the asteroids that Greeza collided with were simply erased from existence.
"Daigo, in a bit, you'll turn into Tiga and let Greeza swallow you. Look for the Space Needle inside its body," Kenji instructed. "We'll buy you time."
"Huh?" Daigo was stunned. If I get swallowed by that thing, can I even survive?
"Trust me."
The weapon known as the Space Needle had just delivered itself to their doorstep. Whether he could grasp this opportunity was up to him.
[Star Forger]: @Sun God Apollo, come over here for a sec.
While Daigo looked for the Space Needle, Apollo would create a sun in space. Kenji himself would be responsible for reordering the surrounding stars. A sudden extra sun would have too great an impact on the planets.
[Sun God]: Understood.
Schwatch!
Daigo found a secluded spot with no surveillance cameras, took out his Sparklence, and transformed into Tiga, immediately switching to Sky Type and flying rapidly into space.
"Captain, it's Tiga!"
At TPC headquarters, Yazumi watched the screen. No monster had appeared, so why had Tiga transformed?
"Yazumi, pull up the satellite feed. There must be something in space," Captain Iruma said calmly.
Clack, clack, clack—
Yazumi's fingers danced across the keyboard. Soon, an image from space appeared on the screen. The bizarrely shaped Greeza was there. Just looking at it made one feel uncomfortable.
"Mass is zero... no energy readings at all... How can such a creature exist? Its essence is basically 'nothing'. It shouldn't even exist," Yazumi analyzed, cold sweat dripping from his forehead.
"Tiga... can't possibly win."
This was the conclusion Yazumi had reached. How could such an illogical monster appear? Neither physical attacks nor beam attacks could harm Greeza.
"Yazumi, calm down!" Captain Iruma snapped. She also understood that against this kind of overpowered, mechanics-defying monster, Tiga's chances of winning were slim. But they could only believe in Tiga.
"Tiga was eaten?!" Yazumi exclaimed in shock. Ultraman Tiga had actually been swallowed by that monster. Had Tiga really lost?
After swallowing Tiga, Greeza transformed into a spiked ball. However, they had a feeling Tiga had done it on purpose.
"Wait, what is that robot?"
The Sun God Apollo appeared in space. His majestic, divine aura was like looking directly at the sun.
"It probably isn't an enemy." Even though it was an unknown being they had never seen before, one look at it told you it was on the side of good.
"A strange creature." Apollo frowned, then mobilized the power of the sun. A giant sun appeared, directly trapping Greeza within it. Since Greeza had now turned into a ball, it would take some time before it could revert to its humanoid form.
"What a pain," Kenji sighed. "I came here to train Daigo, and this kind of trouble pops up."
Rich starlight energy radiated from Kenji's body, calming the agitated stars. The sudden appearance of a new sun had a significant impact on the solar system, and he was busy reordering their orbits.
[Star Forger]: @Crash-Test Pilot Daigo, are you okay in there?
[Dian Mei Ruan]: Greeza... sounds like IX, the Aeon of Nihility.
[Crash-Test Pilot]: I'm fine, but my energy is draining fast. It's completely empty inside Greeza. Where am I supposed to find a Space Needle?
[Lifts-Bemstar-With-One-Hand]: Tiga, here's an energy flask. You can use it to replenish your light energy when you're running low.
Hikari had sent Tiga a small gadget. A little boost in a special situation could be quite effective.
[Crash-Test Pilot]: This is a huge help! Thank you so much!
Daigo no longer let himself be distracted and focused on finding the so-called Space Needle.
