Chapter 653 - 0653 Oracle (Seeking Subscription)

Chapter 653: Chapter 0653 Oracle (Seeking Subscription)

Conceptual Death, Misfortune…equivalent to the Spirit World, they are comparatively safer as ritual subjects.

Of course, if there are powerful divine spirits that preside in such realms, they might still exert influence this way.

Amidst the chanting, Sean’s gaze gradually became blurry.

He began to see scene after scene.

It was a city overrun by madness where crowds slew and devoured each other savagely like beasts.

It was outside a farmstead where prisoners tied to sacrificial posts were forcibly stripped of their eyeballs.

It was a telegraph message he had seen in a private space that affected him deeply, the words ‘Konordel City’ appearing as if they were smeared in blood.

“Are these events…occurrences of the past, the present, or the future… Does each scene represent an appropriate ritual for the [Emperor of Disaster] to ascend? Isn’t it too numerous?”

In this moment, even Sean, who was ensnared in misfortune, was terrified by the result.

“Wait a minute… The results of the revelation could be erroneous or confusing… It might not be true. Perhaps, these three clues ultimately point to the same event…”

Sean interpreted it according to his knowledge of the arcane.

Rubbing his chin with his left thumb, he exhaled silently. “I originally planned to undertake this task after the promotion, but it seems… I have to take a trip to Konordel City.”

After making the decision, Sean started to pack up his divination tools, simultaneously bundling his adorable collection of gold and silver.

At that moment, he had an eerie premonition.

At some unknown point, a beam of pure moonlight had penetrated the curtain and enveloped the room.

In this bright moonlight, the room’s walls suddenly gave way to the revealing of countless corrosion marks. The curtains were perforated and blood seeped through them profusely.

Furniture such as the desk, sofa, bed, and chairs… appeared to have acquired life of their own, undulating restlessly. Some cracked open, revealing countless teeth or eyes from within.

More critically, the whole room was ‘sealed’ in a mystical sense.

“Is this… an infiltration and invasion by the power of the Spirit World?”

Sean’s expression hardened.

All divinations were made by connecting with the Dream Spirit World.

Power in that realm was particularly unstable and prone to exploitation by divine spirits!

“Lady Moon?! You still won’t let me go?”

Sean smiled wryly, instinctively linking his predicament to his previous decision to hunt down Polon, which must have caught the attention of this existence.

In the course of his divination, even if he was cautious, the divine spirit still managed to latch on to a trace and imposed its malevolence!

In reality, he had no idea that his predicament had nothing to do with him but was simply an inexplicable disaster caused by someone else, which led to Lady Moon paying more attention to him.

Otherwise, no divine spirit would pay any heed to a fifth-level professional, even if he had hunted down the leader of the Black Death Society!

“Law… Open the door!”

Sean moved beside the door and placed his right hand on the handle.

A crown appeared above him.

It was an amazing item he had obtained within the [Emperor of Disaster’s] ruins — ‘The Crown of Disaster’.

It could effectively enhance his various abilities and impose misfortune upon his enemies.

But Sean tried hard to twist the handle, only to find the door still wouldn’t budge.

This indicated that his strength, even with the boost from the ‘Crown of Disaster’, could still not break the area’s seal!

Moreover, an eerie chill feeling had crept from the handle, spreading along his skin from his palm to his elbow, arm, and chest.

“Damn it…”

Sean looked at the back of his hand and saw tiny bumps protruding from the skin, coming together to form the shape of a half-moon!

It was the symbol of Lady Moon!

A voice had suddenly materialized in his head.

“Hey… Why not surrender to Lady Moon?”

“You are a child of misfortune! And Misfortune does not belong to the light; it leans toward the domain of death!”

“Submit to her, and you will have everything!”

“Break those old rules, totally give in to your desires… you will have a completely new life…”

“No!”

Sean, terrified, suppressed the second personality inside him.

At the same time, his mind was racing to think of a way to escape.

“It’s indeed the corruption of a god…I can’t hold on for long…no…why am I still able to hold on so far?”

“It seems that just as the records say, Lady Moon rarely incarnates in the Federation. Just delivering her power is her limit… Is she afraid of the Lady of Radiance?”

“But… I can’t even leave this place now, let alone ask the church for help.”

“Only a god… can confront another god!”

He gave a bitter smile, his expression gradually firming. “Su Lu…you must not lie to me. But… there is no other way.”

At this moment, praying to the divine god may not be heard or responded to because the ‘attention level’ is not sufficient!

The same is true for other evil gods, but they are even worse choices than the divine gods.

Sean realized that his choices had now narrowed down to the mysterious existence known as the ‘Spirit Lord’.

After all, it was Su Lu, a terrestrial agent who was comparable to the Pope of the Church, who promised personally! This implies that mysterious existence had been watching him, and he would definitely get a response if he prayed!

Sean looked forward and saw ‘another’ himself in the mirror opposite.

The other him appeared cold and indifferent, with moon glyphs on his face, and was greedily staring at him.

“I can’t wait any longer, I must act now.”

Spasmodically praying with an eerily broken voice, Sean beseeched,

“O Voyager of the infinite world, Shelterer of the inner spirit, Lord of the Spirit World… I pray to you, help me escape this predicament!”

At this instant, a burst of colorful light exploded before his eyes.

It appeared as though he saw a towering figure with an indistinguishable facial outline, with a myriad of colors radiating from behind him.

Boom!

Sean suddenly felt the sealed space opening, the chill inside his body quickly dissipating, and the voice of the second personality was suppressed to the maximum.

Thud!

He crashed against the door, it burst open immediately, and he escaped.

Upon leaving the room contaminated by the Spirit World, Sean didn’t dare to pause and activated teleportation in a flash.

His silhouette faded away swiftly and, when he reappeared, he found himself outside the city, within a dark maple grove.

“Phew… That’s a relief.”

Sean patted his chest, feeling as if he had made a narrow escape.

But the very next moment, he fell into despair again: “So…it seems that the Spirit Lord has indeed set sights on me?”

After musing for a while, he decided to pray ritualistically again in gratitude for the rescue from the Spirit Lord.

The next moment, a burst of light erupted before his eyes, forming a line of words in Ancient Hebrew:

“Follow the will in your heart, go to the land bountiful with adversity and ascend!”

“This…this is the Oracle?!”

His eyes widened in shock.
